Les Peugeot 208 WRX à l’assaut de la Belgique
C’est à Mettet, face à une concurrence encore renforcée, que le Team
Peugeot-Hansen fera rugir les moteurs de ses puissantes PEUGEOT 208
WRX, les 16 et 17 mai prochains. L’objectif est clair : profiter de la
troisième manche du Championnat du Monde FIA de Rallycross pour
poursuivre la jolie série de podiums entamée en début de saison.
Deux semaines après la course d’Hockenheim, qui a conquis un nouveau public, celui du DTM, le
Championnat du Monde FIA de Rallycross poursuit sa tournée 2015 avec une étape belge, à
seulement une trentaine de kilomètres de la frontière française. Après s’être ouverte pour la
première fois au Rallycross la saison dernière, la piste de Mettet réservera à nouveau aux
concurrents du World RX et à ses nombreux fans des sensations fortes avec une piste rallongée
comportant une section terre plus importante (39 % au lieu de 35).
L’année passée, le Team Peugeot-Hansen avait signé son premier podium en Championnat du
Monde FIA de Rallycross devant 20 000 spectateurs, avec une prometteuse deuxième place pour
Timmy Hansen au volant de la PEUGEOT 208 WRX.
C’est avec l’ardente détermination de récidiver que les deux pilotes de l’équipe se rendront sur le
circuit Jules Tachery. Forts du potentiel qu’ils ont affiché à l’occasion des deux premières manches
de la saison, Timmy Hansen #21 et Davy Jeanney #17 entendent bien manier avec brio les 550
chevaux de leur monture. Ils devront pour cela affronter une concurrence encore plus étoffée que
d’habitude puisque trente-neuf voitures seront présentes en catégorie Supercar ! Avec Hyundai,
Renault, Saab, Skoda et Volvo, pas moins de cinq marques supplémentaires seront représentées à
Mettet par rapport à Hockenheim. Voilà qui promet des empoignades encore plus disputées !
La course sera diffusée à la télévision dans plus de 120 pays à travers le monde. Les demi-finales et
la finale seront retransmises en direct en France sur L’Equipe 21 ainsi qu’en Suède sur TV10 et en
Belgique sur la RTBF.

« Nous avons terminé deuxième de cette épreuve l’an passé. Elle nous convient donc plutôt bien. La
piste a été un peu remaniée car il y avait une partie un petit peu trop éprouvante pour les mécaniques
avec, notamment, un jump. Je pense qu’ils ont amélioré la piste pour cette année. Nous tâcherons de
nous appuyer sur les bons réglages de l’année dernière pour essayer de monter à nouveau sur le
podium et défendre ainsi la position de Peugeot au championnat Teams. Nous sommes actuellement
troisièmes mais les écarts sont très serrés : moins de dix points entre les trois premières équipes. Le
niveau est très relevé cette saison».

The Peugeot 208 WRX ready for action in Belgium
The next competitive outing for Team Peugeot Hansen and its powerful
PEUGEOT 208 WRXs will be at Mettet, Belgium, on May 16-17. Its
objective at Round 3 of the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship will
be to continue on the run of podium successes it has enjoyed since the
beginning of the season.
Just two weeks after appearing in front of a brand new audience at the recent DTM clash at
Hockenheim, Germany, the FIA World Rallycross Championship moves on to Round 3 in Belgium,
only a short hop over the border from Peugeot’s home country. The facility at Mettet was visited by
the world of rallycross for the first time in 2014 and, this time, fans will benefit from a longer track
with a proportion of dirt that has been extended from 35% to 39%.
Last year’s race saw Team Peugeot-Hansen notch up its first World RX podium finish in front of a
crowd of 20,000 spectators who watched Timmy Hansen secure a promising second place in the
PEUGEOT 208 WRX.
This weekend, the team’s two drivers are eager to repeat that performance at the Circuit Jules
Tachery. Based on the potential they have shown at the first two rounds of the 2015 championship,
Timmy Hansen (#21) and Davy Jeanney (#17) have every intention of making full use of their 550horsepower steeds to fight at the very front of the field. At the same time, they are perfectly aware
that they face even stiffer opposition than usual since the Supercar class has attracted an entry of no
fewer than 39 cars! With Hyundai, Renault, Saab, Skoda and Volvo all in action at the Belgian venue,
there are five additional car brands represented and some first class battling is in store for everyone!
The race will be broadcast on TV in more than 120 countries worldwide, including live coverage of
the semi-finals and final in France on L’Equipe 21, in Sweden on TV10, in Belgium on RTBF, etc.

“We came second at Mettet in 2014, so it’s a track that suits the car. The layout has been revised
slightly this time round because there was a section – including a jump – that was a little too hard
on the mechanicals. I think the changes are an improvement. We will use last year’s good set-up as
a base in order to try to finish on the podium and defend Peugeot’s position in the provisional
Teams’ standings. We’re third at the moment but it’s very close: the top three teams are covered by
less than 10 points. The level is extremely high this season…”
