Face à une concurrence très relevée, les PEUGEOT 208 WRX ont réalisé
un formidable week-end à Estering. Vainqueur de trois manches
qualificatives sur quatre, Davy Jeanney s’est imposé en demi-finale puis
en finale, devenant ainsi le premier pilote français à gagner une épreuve
du Championnat du Monde FIA de Rallycross. Timmy Hansen complète
ce succès avec une superbe troisième place !
Pour les Suédois, le solstice d’été est un moment très spécial dans l’année, célébré par la fameuse fête du
Midsummer. Ce jour le plus long de l’année vient récompenser des mois d’attente, passés à l’ombre d’un
soleil discret. Fort des enseignements tirés lors de la séance d’essais menée en Suède trois semaines plus
tôt, l’équipe s’est montrée très performante tout au long du week-end.
Au volant d’une PEUGEOT 208 WRX répondant parfaitement à ses attentes, Davy Jeanney a réalisé un
début de week-end parfait puisqu’il est devenu le seul pilote cette saison à remporter trois manches
qualificatives d’affilée! Seule une touchette dans la quatrième manche lui a valu de manquer le score

ideal. Cette mésaventure ne l’a nullement empêché de terminer 1 à l’issue des manches qualificatives,
lui offrant ainsi la pole lors de la première demi-finale. Il y a d’ailleurs retrouvé son équipier Timmy
Hansen, qualifié lui aussi malgré des problèmes techniques qui ont nécessité un changement de moteur
dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche.
Les deux pilotes Peugeot ont parfaitement su exploiter les 550 chevaux de leur 208 WRX pour se qualifier
en finale. Une prouesse pour Timmy qui partait cinquième alors que seuls les trois premiers sont retenus.
Davy occupait la pole de la finale et Timmy s’élançait à nouveau cinquième. Auteurs d’excellents départs
et bénéficiant d’une très bonne stratégie de course, les deux pilotes Peugeot ont pris le pouvoir lors de
cette finale très disputée. Davy a dominé la course de bout en bout maîtrisant le tenant du titre Petter
Solberg pour finalement signer la première victoire d’un pilote Français en Championnat du Monde FIA
de Rallycross. Timmy a réussi à remonter jusqu’à une superbe troisième place venant récompenser un
week-end jusque-là très frustrant.
C’est la première fois cette saison qu‘une équipe parvient à placer deux voitures sur le podium. Cette très
convaincante démonstration permet au Team Peugeot Hansen de se repositionner au classement
« teams », en réduisant à seulement onze points l’écart sur le leader (Ford OMSE). A deux semaines de
l’épreuve de Holjes, disputée près de la base opérationnelle du Team Peugeot Hansen, cette tendance
est d’autant plus encourageante que l’été ne fait que commencer. Parole de Suédois !

« Dès le début du week-end, Davy a été très bon et très constant. On peut le voir dans son pilotage : il frôle les
rails avec aisance ce qui montre qu’il est en confiance. Je suis très heureux qu’il ait remporté ce succès car il le
mérite sincèrement. Pour ce qui est de Timmy, il a rencontré des problèmes techniques hier et a
malheureusement dû composer ce matin avec une piste humide. Malgré cela, il a réussi à se qualifier pour la
finale. Monter sur le podium dans un tel contexte est aussi très impressionnant. Nous pouvons constater que
nous sommes très rapides et cela nous permet de revenir au contact au championnat « Teams ». C’est une
étape importante. »

« Cette victoire est vraiment fantastique car c’est la première fois que je gagne depuis cinq ans que je cours
au niveau international. Pour ma première saison complète en Championnat du Monde, m’imposer dès la
cinquième épreuve est un vrai bonheur. On travaille, on fait des sacrifices et ça paie ! Remporter les trois
premières manches nous a assuré une bonne qualification pour la phase finale. En demi-finale, j’ai pris moins
de risque que durant les manches mais j’ai tout de même gagné. En finale, en revanche, j’ai donné un peu
plus et j’ai terminé en beauté. C’est parfait. J’ai encore beaucoup appris ce week-end. »

« Quel week-end ! Une nouvelle fois, il nous a fallu remonter après un samedi
difficile. Honnêtement, je n’étais pas certain de me qualifier pour les demi-finales. J’ai
couru après les chronos de Davy pendant deux jours. Nous n’avons quasiment pas
changé la voiture de tout le week-end et Davy a été très rapide et constant. J’ai
réalisé qu’il fallait que je sois encore plus rapide. Entre la demi-finale et la finale, j’ai
trouvé ce qui me manquait et ça a fonctionné en finale. Ça a été très serré sur la ligne
d’arrivée mais cela m’a permis de monter sur le podium. C’est une sensation
formidable ! »

Victory and two cars on the podium for Team Peugeot Hansen in
Germany!
The team's two PEUGEOT 208 WRXs shook off stiff opposition at
Estering, Germany, to win three of the weekend's four heats thanks to
Davy Jeanney. The Frenchman went on to win his semi-final, then the
final to become the first driver from his country to win a round of the FIA
World Rallycross Championship. Timmy Hansen rounded off the team's
strong weekend by collecting third place!
For Swedes, the summer solstice is a very special occasion. The longest day of the year proved to be a
landmark moment for the team which stepped out of the shadow and applied the lessons of the test it
carried out three weeks previously in Sweden. Thanks to this groundwork, it was competitive from start to
finish in Germany.
Davy Jeanney found his PEUGEOT 208 WRX perfectly suited to the Estering's characteristics, and that
helped him to emerge as the first driver this year to win three straight heats. Only a small 'off' in the last
heat prevented him from achieving the ideal score. Despite this slight setback, he ended this phase of the
weekend at the top of the order which meant he was able to start his semi-final from pole position. In the
same race was team-mate Timmy Hansen who also made it through to the semis in spite of the need for
an overnight engine change.
The two Peugeot drivers made maximum use of the 550hp delivered by their respective 208 WRXs to
qualify for the final, even though Timmy started from fifth place (only the top three go through). They
both got away to excellent starts and benefited from judicious strategies to qualify for the fiercely
contested final which Davy dominated from flag to flag to beat the 2014 champion Petter Solberg. In
doing so, Jeanney became the first Frenchman to win a round of the FIA World Rallycross
Championship. Timmy recovered from his earlier frustrations to clinch third spot!
It is the first time this season that a team has succeeded in getting both its cars onto the podium and the
weekend's result has provided a big boost to Team Peugeot Hansen's title chances. It is now only 11
points short of the leader Ford OMSE. With two weeks to go until the next clash in Holjes, close to Team
Peugeot Hansen's base, the weekend's succes was the ideal way to kick off the summer - especially for a
Swedish outfit!
"Davy was strong and consistent from the very start of the weekend. You could see it in his driving. He had
the confidence to get very close to the guardrails and I'm delighted he took the weekend's win. He fully
deserved it. As for Timmy, he suffered from technical problems on Saturday and had to adapt to damp
conditions this morning. Even so, he managed to qualify for the final. It was very impressive to see him clinch
a podium finish in circumstances like that. It is clear that we were very fast and that has put us back in the
championship chase. That's obviously very important."

"This is a fantastic win because it's my first season at international level in five years. It's amazing to have
won the fifth event of what is my first full season in the world championship. I'm so happy. All the
sacrifices and all the hard work we have done is starting to pay. Winning the first three heats ensured a
good starting position for the final phase. I took fewer risks during my semi-final than I did in the heats and
I still won. I then pushed really hard in the final, though, to round off the weekend in style. It was the
perfect ending. I also learnt a great deal this weekend."

"What a weekend! Once again, we had to fight back after a tough Saturday and I honestly didn't think I
would qualify for the semi-finals. I spent the weekend trying to match Davy's times. We didn't touch the car
at all and Davy was quick and consistent throughout. I realised that I needed to be even faster and I found
what was lacking between the semi-final and the final. Things then clicked into place for the final. It was very
close over the line but I made it onto the podium. That was a sensational feeling."

La reprise pour les PEUGEOT 208 WRX à Estering
Après un mois de pause, le Team Peugeot Hansen est de retour en action
pour la cinquième manche du Championnat du Monde FIA de Rallycross.
Timmy Hansen et Davy Jeanney se rendront à Estering (Allemagne), les
20 et 21 juin, avec détermination.
Après avoir fait découvrir le rallycross aux 70 000 spectateurs venus en masse à Hockenheim à
l’occasion du lancement de la saison de DTM au mois de mai, les concurrents du Championnat du
Monde mettent à nouveau le cap sur l’Allemagne à l’occasion de la cinquième manche de la saison.
Cette fois, c’est dans un bastion du Rallycross que les pilotes des PEUGEOT 208 WRX évolueront.
Situé à 35 km de Hambourg, Estering est en effet un des hauts lieux de ce sport et attire toujours un
public passionné.
Mettant à profit les quatre semaines qui ont suivi la course de Lydden Hill, le Team Peugeot Hansen
a procédé à des essais en Suède sur le circuit de Holjes. L’équipe a passé en revue toute une gamme
de réglages qui devraient permettre à Timmy Hansen et Davy Jeanney d’exploiter au mieux les 208
WRX à Estering afin, espère t on, de marquer les gros points qui sont nécessaires dans la course aux
titres.
La course sera diffusée à la télévision dans plus de 120 pays à travers le monde. Les demi-finales et
finales seront retransmises en direct en France sur L’Equipe 21, ainsi qu’en Suède sur TV10 et en
Allemagne sur Motorvision.
« Estering est une des pistes traditionnelles du Rallycross. C’est un endroit spécial que nous
connaissons bien. Je dirais que son tracé est à l’opposé de ce que nous avons connu à Lydden Hill lors
de la dernière épreuve. Ici, il n’y a pas droit à l’erreur : des rails longent la piste et le premier virage est
très piégeux. Il y a souvent des contacts. Je suis toutefois confiant. Les essais que nous avons menés
récemment nous ont permis d’améliorer encore la voiture et nous espérons être en mesure d’en tirer un
bon parti à Estering ».

WorldRX action resumes for the PEUGEOT 208 WRX at Estering
Following a month off, Team Peugeot-Hansen will be back in action in
the fifth round of the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship as Timmy
Hansen and Davy Jeanney head to Estering, Germany, on June 20-21, in
a determined mood.
After introducing rallycross to a full house of 70,000 spectators at Hockenheim as a support event for the
DTM fixture there last month, the World RX protagonists will return to Germany for the fifth showdown of
the 2015 campaign. This time, it is a traditional rallycross venue that will welcome the two PEUGEOT 208
WRX drivers. Located 35km southwest of Hamburg, Estering is indeed one of the discipline’s true
strongholds, and never fails to attract an enthusiastic crowd.
Taking full advantage of the four-week interval since the visit to Lydden Hill, Team Peugeot-Hansen went
testing at Holjes in Sweden. The squad spent time evaluating a range of set-up options so as to be able to
exploit the full potential of the 208 WRXs both at Estering and in subsequent outings. Timmy Hansen and
Davy Jeanney will aim to capitalise upon this hard work by tallying a large points haul in Germany, as
Team Peugeot-Hansen seeks to reclaim the top spot in the Teams’ standings that it occupied back at the
beginning of the season.
The Estering round will be televised in more than 120 countries throughout the world. The semi-finals and
final will be broadcast live in France on L’Equipe 21, in Sweden on TV10 and in Germany on Motorvision.
“Estering is one of the classic rallycross venues, and a special place that we know well. Its layout is pretty
much the opposite to what we encountered last time out at Lydden Hill. There is absolutely no margin for
error here, with barriers all around the circuit and a treacherous first corner. Contact is commonplace. That
said, I feel very confident. The testing that we conducted recently enabled us to improve the car further, and
we hope to convert that into some strong results at Estering.”
