Face à une concurrence plus virulente que jamais, à Istanbul (Turquie),
les pilotes des PEUGEOT 208 WRX ont dû sortir le grand jeu en phase
finale de la onzième manche du Championnat du Monde FIA de
Rallycross. Grâce à la victoire de Timmy Hansen et à la 5e place de Davy
Jeanney, le Team Peugeot Hansen est plus que jamais en lice pour le
titre de Champion du Monde „Teams“ à deux épreuves de la fin.
Quelle pression ! Les PEUGEOT 208 WRX ont dû faire face à une concurrence boostée lors de cette étape
asiatique. Certes, Timmy Hansen a bien remporté la première manche qualificative du week-end sur ce
tracé qui utilise plusieurs virages de l’ancien circuit de Formule 1, mais la pression exercée par les Audi et
les Ford était clairement très intense.
Malgré cette menace, Timmy Hansen est parvenu à pointer à la deuxième place à l’issue des phases
qualificatives. Auteur de manches plus compliquées, Davy Jeanney s’est lui aussi qualifié pour la phase
finale.
A l’issue d’une demi finale absolument démentielle, les deux pilotes du team Peugeot Hansen
décrochaient une nouvelle fois leur ticket pour la finale en s’adjugeant les deux premières places de la
deuxième demi-finale. Une prouesse compte-tenu du déroulement endiablé de ces six tours !
En finale, Timmy Hansen restait sur cet élan et menait de bout en bout la course malgré une énorme
pression de Bakkerud, notamment lors du dernier tour. Davy Jeanney complétait cette victoire avec une
cinquième place, synonyme de précieux points au championnat. Ce tir groupé permet au Team Peugeot
Hansen de renforcer son avance au championnat Teams avec 79 points d‘écart, alors que deux courses
restent à disputer, en Italie, mi-octobre, et en Argentine, fin Novembre.
Avec ce troisième succès de l’année, Timmy Hansen réduit encore l’écart qui le sépare du Champion du
Monde en titre, Petter Solberg, au championnat pilotes. Il compte désormais 19 points de retard.
Dans le championnat RX Lites, le pilote du Peugeot Red Bull Hansen Junior Team, Kevin Hansen
conserve la tête avec 11 points d’avance sur son plus proche concurrent. Il reste une manche qui se
déroulera en Italie les 16 et 17 octobre prochains.

« Quelle journée encore aujourd’hui. Je suis ravi du retour effectué par Davy après ses mésaventures d‘hier
et de ce matin. Nous avons pu voir qu’il a progressé tout au long de la journée au volant de sa 208. Et de
voir finalement les deux PEUGEOT sortirent première et deuxième de la demi-finale était juste un sentiment
merveilleux. Timmy a connu quelques soucis techniques mais a réussi à gérer. La finale fut particulièrement
intense. Timmy a tout donné pour récupérer quelques centièmes par ci par là afin de creuser l’écart entre lui
et Bakkerud, écart qui était à chaque tour très serré. Une adrénaline incroyable. Timmy remporte la finale
et Davy termine 5ème. Encore un bon travail d’équipes et de précieux points engrangés ici en Turquie pour
le titre de Champion du Monde Teams ».

« J’ai vécu probablement les 12 tours les plus fantastiques de ma jeune carrière, avec une intensité
rarissime. En demi-finale je perdais de la puissance car mon échappement était bloqué. J’ai donc dû utiliser
tous les autres atouts de la 208 pour pouvoir tenir le rythme et adapter mon pilotage immédiatement. Après
quelques imbroglios lors de la demi-finale, je sors en tête et tout d’un coup je vois Davy dans mon
rétroviseur. Nous terminons premier et deuxième. Quel beau résultat déjà ! Bis repitita dans la finale avec
toujours ce souci de puissance. J’ai tout donné pour conserver un écart suffisant avec Bakkerud. Et…victoire !
Avec Davy cinquième nous continuons d’engranger des points au Championnat Teams et c’est exactement
ce que nous souhaitions. »

« J’ai mal démarré le week-end surtout avec le crash en manche qualificative 3 qui
avait pas mal endommagé la voiture. Je remercie le team pour le travail effectué ce
qui m’a permis de faire une manche 4 dans un bon rythme, et surtout d’être qualifié
pour la demi-finale. Nous étions dans la même demi avec Timmy. J’ai réussi à éviter
les différents accrochages et je me suis ainsi retrouvé juste derrière lui, en deuxième
position. Une première belle récompense pour les efforts fournis par les mécanos. En
finale, la stratégie de suivre Audi dans le tour joker était la bonne, car rapide.
Malheureusement un autre concurrent s’est mis en travers devant nous et j’ai ainsi perdu toutes chances de
performer plus que la cinquième place. Malgré tout nous conservons notre avance pour le titre „Teams“ et
c’est le principal. »

Victory number five for the PEUGEOT 208 WRX
Faced with a fiercer level of opposition than ever before in Istanbul
(Turkey), the PEUGEOT 208 WRX drivers needed to pull out all the stops
in the semi-final and final of the 11th round of the 2015 FIA World
Rallycross Championship – and thanks to Timmy Hansen’s victory and
fifth place for team-mate Davy Jeanney, Team Peugeot Hansen has
taken a step closer towards clinching the teams’ crown with two rounds
remaining to run.
The brace of PEUGEOT 208 WRX Supercars found themselves up against a stronger field than ever
during the only Asian stop on the FIA World Rallycross Championship calendar. Timmy Hansen might
have won the weekend’s opening heat race around a track that borrowed several corners from the former
Formula 1 circuit, but the pressure applied by the Audis and Fords was relentless.
Notwithstanding this threat, Hansen succeeded in securing second place in the intermediate rankings,
whilst despite enduring a more complicated time of things in the heats in the squad’s sister car, Davy
Jeanney similarly qualified for the next stage.
Following an action-packed second semi-final, the Team Peugeot Hansen duo once again both
progressed on to the all-important final by claiming the top two positions – no mean achievement in
light of the breathless nature of the fraught six-lap contest!
In the final, Hansen maintained his momentum to lead from lights-to-flag, artfully fending off unrelenting
pressure from Andreas Bakkerud – particularly over the last lap. Jeanney complemented his team-mate’s
triumph with fifth place to tally a strong haul of championship points, enabling Team Peugeot Hansen to
extend its advantage at the top of the Teams’ standings to 79 points with two rounds remaining, in Italy
in a fortnight’s time and Argentina at the end of November.
With his third victory of the season, Timmy Hansen has further reduced the gap separating him from
reigning world champion Petter Solberg in the drivers’ classification. The young Swede is now only 19
points in arrears.
In the RX Lites Championship, Peugeot Red Bull Hansen Junior Team driver Kevin Hansen is still in
charge, 11 points clear of his closest pursuer with only a single round left to run in Italy on October 1617.
“Another brilliant day for the team! I’m thrilled with Davy’s fightback after his problems both yesterday and
this morning. It was encouraging to watch the progress he made throughout the day behind the wheel of his
208, and to see the two PEUGEOTs finish first and second in the semi-final was absolutely fantastic. Timmy
encountered a number of technical issues but succeeded in overcoming them. The final was particularly
intense. Timmy gave it his all to eke out a couple of hundredths here and a couple of hundredths there to
stretch the gap between himself and Bakkerud, which was always extremely close. It was an incredible
adrenaline rush to witness him winning the final and Davy finishing fifth. The team performed flawlessly as
ever, and the outcome is that we have taken a vital points haul here in Turkey towards the Teams’ World
Championship.”

“They were probably the most exciting and enjoyable 12 laps of my career to-date, with a rare level of
intensity. In the semi-final, I was struggling for power due to a blocked exhaust, which meant I had to
immediately adapt my driving style and draw upon all the other qualities of the 208 to stay ahead. It was a
chaotic race, but I emerged in the lead and was delighted to see Davy in my rear-view mirror. To finish first
and second there was already a superb result! It was a similar story for me in the final, with the same lack
of power as earlier. I pushed as hard as I could to retain a sufficient margin over Bakkerud – and that paid
off with victory! With Davy in fifth, we scored more valuable points towards the Teams’ Championship –
which is exactly what we had been aiming for.”

“My weekend began badly, with a crash in the third heat that significantly
damaged the car. I must thank the team for all their hard work, which enabled me
to tackle the fourth heat with a fighting chance and consequently to qualify for the
semi-finals. We were in the same semi-final as Timmy, and after successfully
avoiding the race’s various dramas and collisions, I found myself just behind him in
second position. That was the first reward for all of the mechanics’ stellar efforts. In
the final, our strategy to follow the Audis onto the joker lap proved to be the right
one, since they were quick. Unfortunately, another car got in my way, which cost me all hope of finishing any
higher than fifth. That said, we have maintained our advantage in the Teams’ standings, which is the most
important thing.”

Les PEUGEOT 208 WRX affamées à l‘approche d‘Istanbul
Après avoir sévi à l’ouest cet été avec la victoire de Davy Jeanney au
Canada, les lionnes mettent le cap à l’est pour la manche la plus
orientale du Championnat du Monde FIA de Rallycross. Pour ce onzième
rendez-vous de la saison, les pilotes des PEUGEOT 208 WRX sortiront de
nouveau les griffes pour remplir leur premier objectif : ramener le titre de
champion du monde par équipes.
Passerelle entre deux continents, Istanbul va permettre aux concurrents du Championnat du Monde FIA
de Rallycross de poser les roues en Asie. C’est en effet sur l’ancien circuit de Formule 1, situé à l’est du
Bosphore sur la partie orientale de la métropole turque, que va se disputer la onzième étape de la saison,
qui pourrait se montrer déterminante pour le titre par équipes.
Tracée sur les derniers virages du circuit ayant accueilli les GP de Turquie de F1 entre 2005 et 2011, la
piste offre un profil très typé « asphalte » alors que sa section terre, très glissante, requiert plutôt un style
typique de la conduite sur glace.
Voilà qui convient parfaitement à l’ancien pistard Timmy Hansen ! Deuxième l’an passé, le jeune Suédois
attend avec impatience de rouler sur cette piste au volant de la PEUGEOT 208 WRX n°21 avec laquelle il
s’est déjà imposé en Norvège et en France. Il aura à coeur de dompter une nouvelle fois son ambitieuse
féline pour la mener à la victoire afin d’engranger de précieux points en vue du championnat par équipes.
Un tel scénario lui permettrait aussi de réduire encore l’écart qui le sépare de la tête du championnat
pilotes, dont il occupe actuellement le deuxième rang. Fort de ses succès acquis en Allemagne et au
Canada, Davy Jeanney sera lui aussi très déterminé. Remonté à la quatrième place au championnat
pilotes, le Français, n°17, découvrira ce tracé. 16 points le séparent du tiercé gagnant. C’est bien connu
en Rallycross tout peut arriver.
Face à une concurrence très relevée, les deux pilotes des PEUGEOT 208 WRX viseront donc un onzième
podium cette saison et une cinquième victoire. Une nouvelle bonne performance s’avèrerait donc cruciale
pour renforcer encore la position de leader du Team Peugeot Hansen au championnat par équipes, à
seulement deux étapes de la fin de saison.
En marge de la course des Supercars, Kevin Hansen participera à la sixième et avant-dernière manche du
Championnat RX Lites. Le pilote du Peugeot Red Bull Hansen Junior Team tentera de conserver la tête du
championnat et de creuser l’écart sur ses adversaires.
« L’année dernière, nous étions très rapides sur cette piste. Nous avions conquis la deuxième place en finale.
La piste est assez piégeuse. Elle utilise les derniers virages du circuit de Formule 1. Les sections de terre sont
assez glissantes et cela complique la recherche d’un bon set-up. Nous avions trouvé les bons réglages et
nous verrons s’ils sont adaptés à la voiture de cette année. Si tel est le cas, je pense que Timmy et Davy
seront très rapides. Quoiqu’il en soit, nous ferons le maximum pour augmenter notre avance au
championnat teams, notre objectif principal. »
La course sera retransmise à la télévision dans plus de 120 pays à travers le monde. Les demi-finales
et finales seront diffusées en direct en France sur L’Equipe 21, ainsi qu’en Suède sur TV10.

The PEUGEOT 208 WRXs targeting Turkish delight in Istanbul
Having already ruled the roost in the west during the summer with Davy
Jeanney’s Canadian triumph, Team Peugeot Hansen is now heading to
Istanbul, Turkey, for the easternmost contest on the 2015 FIA World
Rallycross Championship calendar. In preparation for the 11th round of
this year’s campaign, the two PEUGEOT 208 WRX drivers have been
sharpening their claws as they set their sights on accomplishing their
primary objective, which is to secure the Teams’ world crown.
As a gateway between two continents, Istanbul will see the FIA World Rallycross Championship

contenders set foot inside Asia. The 11 round of the season will be held around part of the city’s
erstwhile Formula 1 venue, situated on the eastern side of the Bosphorus strait that divides the Turkish
metropolis – and it could settle the Teams’ title.
Using the final corners of the circuit that hosted the Turkish Grand Prix between 2005 and 2011, the track
blends a very typical ‘asphalt’ section with an extremely slippery run across the gravel, demanding the
kind of skill that is more usually reserved for driving on ice.
This type of challenge suits former circuit racer Timmy Hansen down to the ground! Having finished
runner-up there last year, the young Swede is eager to return to Istanbul behind the wheel of his N°21
PEUGEOT 208 WRX, which he steered to back-to-back victories in Norway and France. He is ready to
tame the lion once more to secure a third success of the season and, with it, more vital points towards
both the Teams’ and Drivers’ championships. Sitting second in the latter, he is determined to further
reduce the gap that separates him from the top of the table. Meanwhile, buoyed by his triumphs in
Germany and Canada that have elevated him to fourth spot in the drivers’ classification – just 16 points
short of the top three – team-mate Davy Jeanney is heading to Istanbul in similarly bullish mood, despite
his lack of experience of the Turkish venue.

Taking on a distinctly high calibre of opposition, the two PEUGEOT 208 WRX drivers are targeting an 11
rostrum finish this season and a fifth victory, well aware that another strong performance will be vital to
consolidate Team Peugeot Hansen’s championship lead, with only two rounds of the season left to run.
In addition to the headlining Supercar class, Kevin Hansen will contest the sixth and penultimate round of
the RX Lites Championship. The Peugeot Red Bull Hansen Junior Team driver will be bidding to retain his
advantage at the top of the Drivers’ standings and extend his margin over his closest chasers.
“Last year, we were very fast in Istanbul and finished second in the final. It is the kind of circuit that will
very quickly catch out the unwary. It uses the final corners of the Formula 1 track, whilst the gravel
section is fairly slippery, which makes establishing a good set-up a tricky task. That said, we found a solid
baseline in 2014 and we will see if that works on this year’s car. If it does, I am confident that both
Timmy and Davy will be firmly in contention. Whatever happens, be assured that we will give it our all to
increase our lead in the Teams’ championship, which is our chief objective.”
The action from Istanbul will be broadcast on TV in more than 120 countries across the world. The
semi-finals and final will be televised live in France on L’Equipe 21 and in Sweden on TV10.
