Le Team Peugeot Hansen creuse l‘écart à Barcelone
Devant une foule espagnole conquise par le Rallycross, les PEUGEOT 208 WRX
ont permis pour la dixième fois à l‘un de leur pilote de grimper sur le podium.
Dominateur des manches qualificatives, le Team Peugeot Hansen en profite
pour augmenter son avance au Championnat du Monde FIA de Rallycross par
équipes avec 77 points d’avance sur son plus proche concurrent.
Après une série de quatre victoires, dont trois consécutives, le Team Peugeot Hansen abordait la course
de Barcelone avec de grosses ambitions. Une telle réussite ouvre l’appétit ! Surtout avec des lionnes
voraces comme les PEUGEOT 208 WRX et des pilotes affamés comme Timmy Hansen et Davy Jeanney.
Le week-end a d’ailleurs commencé sur la lancée des épreuves précédentes. Timmy Hansen a une
nouvelle fois dominé la première journée, pour la cinquième fois de la saison.
La troisième manche fut moins fluide, mais le jeune Suédois a immédiatement réaffirmé sa supériorité en
remportant la quatrième manche avec un chrono atomique de 3’14’’366 ! C’est donc tout naturellement
que le pilote de la PEUGEOT 208 WRX n°21 pointait en tête à l’issue de la phase qualificative. Son
équipier Davy Jeanney n’était guère loin au classement puisqu’il figurait en quatrième position. De quoi
effectuer une jolie moisson de points au championnat par équipes !
En demi-finale, les deux pilotes des PEUGEOT 208 WRX obtenaient leur ticket pour la finale. Un tir
groupé qu’aucune autre équipe n’était en mesure d’imiter. Devant des tribunes bondées, Timmy Hansen
et Davy Jeanney n’ont malheureusement pas été en mesure de traduire leur élan par une victoire face à
une concurrence redoutable. Parti en pole, Timmy Hansen s’est fait surprendre au départ par un Petter
Solberg surgissant de la deuxième ligne. Auteur d’une petite faute par la suite, il termine à la troisième
place, juste devant son équipier.
Les gros points marqués permettent au Team Peugeot Hansen de renforcer son avance au Championnat
du Monde par équipes. Le commando franco-suédois possède désormais 77 points d’avance le Team
Ford Olsberg MSE alors que trois épreuves restent à disputer.
Au championnat pilotes, Timmy Hansen conforte sa deuxième place en reprenant deux point à Petter
Solberg.Davy Jeanney regagne une position et pointe désormais au quatrième rang. Dans le
championnat RX Lites, Kevin Hansen a lui aussi effectué une bonne opération à Barcelone. Le jeune
pilote du Peugeot Red Bull Hansen Junior Team a encore augmenté son avance au championnat.
A tous les niveaux, donc, la manche turque qui se déroulera les 3 et 4 octobre prochains à Istanbul sur
le site du circuit de Formule 1, s’annonce très intense.

« Pour une première course ici, à Barcelone, les organisateurs ont très bien travaillé. Les installations du
circuit de F1 sont superbes et nous serons ravis de revenir. Sur le plan sportif, nous avons été de nouveau
très rapides. La preuve nous avons qualifié nos deux voitures en finale. Nous n’avons toutefois pas réussi à
complètement concrétiser dans toutes les phases du week-end mais c’est la vie. Parfois le premier virage se
montre très piégeux et quand tout ne s’y présente pas au mieux, il vous faut essayer de rattraper le temps
perdu. La finale n’a pas été aussi brillante que nous pouvions l’espérer. Néanmoins, nous marquons de
précieux points qui nous offrent une avance confortable au championnat par équipe ».

« Nous avons commencé le week-end très fort. Malgré une pénalité, j’ai réussi à partir en pole position en
demi-finale ! J’ai alors essayé de préserver mes pneus. Partant à nouveau de la pole position en finale,
j’étais très confiant. Quand le feu est passé au vert, j’ai été surpris de voir Petter Solberg surgir ainsi à la
corde du premier virage. Etant donné que la piste avait été arrosée juste avant, j’ai alors commis une petite
erreur : j’ai touché la pile de pneus. J’ai tout de même réussi à rester deuxième. Il y avait alors un petit écart
sur Petter. J’ai essayé de le combler mais j’ai fait deux ou trois erreurs qui n’ont fait que l’augmenter. J’ai
tout essayé sur les derniers tours mais ce n’a pas été suffisant. Ce podium me permet de reprendre deux
points à Petter Solberg. »

« Je gagne des points au championnat pilotes et j’en apporte à l’équipe au
classement Teams. C’est important en vue de la fin de saison. Du coup, je reprends
une place au championnat au détriment d’Andreas Bakkerud. C’est le bon point du
week-end. Je pense qu’il m’a manqué un petit quelque chose en demi-finale. Peutêtre un peu de confiance à un moment. J’ai perdu un peu de temps. Je me suis tout
de même qualifié en finale où j’ai la sensation d’avoir mieux roulé ».

Team Peugeot Hansen widens the gap in Barcelona
In front of a crowd won over to the cause of world class rallycross, a PEUGEOT
208 WRX driver finished on the podium for the tenth time in Barcelona today.
After dominating the qualifying heats, Team Peugeot Hansen succeeded in
extending its lead in the provisional 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship
to go 77 points clear of its closest threat.
After a spell that has seen it collect four victories, including a sequence of three wins in a row, Team
Peugeot Hansen arrived in Barcelona, Spain, hungry for more success with two famished drivers in the
persons of Timmy Hansen and Davy Jeanney behind the wheel of its PEUGEOT 208 WRXs. The early
part of the weekend followed a similar pattern to that of the championship’s recent rounds as Timmy
Hansen dominated the opening day’s action for the fifth time this season.
Things went a little less well for him in the third heat, but the Swedish youngster bounced back in Heat 4
to claim first place with a lightning time of 3m14.366s which made sure that the driver of the N°21
PEUGEOT 208 WRX topped the order going into the semi-finals. Team-mate Davy Jeanney followed in
fourth place to secure a valuable points harvest for the Teams’ championship!
Both PEUGEOT 208 WRX drivers progressed from the semi-final phase to earn a ticket for the final.
Unfortunately, in front of packed grandstands, Timmy Hansen and Davy Jeanney both failed to convert
their momentum into victory against stiff opposition. Pole-starter Timmy Hansen was caught by surprise
at the start by Petter Solberg as the latter leapt from row two. The Swede then made a small mistake and
eventually crossed the line in third place, just in front of his team-mate.
The weekend’s big points pickings have strengthened Team Peugeot Hansen’s lead in the world
championship’s Teams’ standings. The Franco-Swedish outfit is now 77 points clear of Team Ford
Olsberg MSE with three rounds remaining.
In the Drivers’ standings, Timmy Hansen consolidated his second place by pocketing two more points
than Petter Solberg, while Davy Jeanney has moved up to fourth spot.
It was a successful weekend in Barcelona for Kevin Hansen in the RX Lites contest, too, since the Peugeot
Red Bull Hansen Junior Team youngster has increased his lead in the class’s standings, with only one
round to come.
The next WRX encounter at the Formula 1 circuit near Istanbul, Turkey, on October 3-4 consequently
promises to be particularly thrilling.

“The organisers of the championship’s first visit to Barcelona clearly worked very hard. The facilities at
the F1 track were superb and we would love to come back here. Once again, we were very competitive,
the proof being the fact that we got both our cars into the final. Unfortunately, we failed to benefit from
our speed during every phase of the meeting, but that’s life. Sometimes the first corner can be very tricky
and, when things don’t go perfectly for you, you have to try to make up for lost ground. The final didn’t
go as well as we might have hoped but we still leave Spain with a big points haul which has given us a
healthy lead in the Teams’ standings.”

“The weekend started really well for us and I managed to earn a pole-position start for my semi-final
despite taking a penalty. I decided to try to take care of my tyres and I felt confident for the final which I
also started from pole position. When the light went green, I was surprised to see Petter Solberg pass on
the inside of Turn 1. Given that the track had been sprayed with water just before the start, I made a
small mistake and made contact with the tyre wall. I managed to hold on to second, though, and I wasn’t
far behind Petter. I did what I could to close the gap but I ended up making two or three small mistakes
which actually made it bigger. I tried everything in the last laps but it wasn’t enough. Finishing on the
podium still allowed me to score two more points than Petter.”

“I scored more championship points for myself as well as for the team which is
important as we get close to the end of the season. I’ve even moved up a place in
the Drivers’ standings by passing Andreas Bakkerud, which is the big positive of
the weekend. I perhaps lacked a little confidence at one point in my semi-final
and that cost me some time. I still succeeded in qualifying for the final during
which I think my driving was better.”

Les PEUGEOT 208 WRX prêtes à rugir dans l’arène de Barcelone
Avec leur livrée bleue flanquée de combatifs taureaux, les PEUGEOT
208 WRX feront l’objet de tous les assauts sur la piste de Barcelone
lors de la dixième manche du très relevé Championnat du Monde FIA de
Rallycross. En tête du championnat Teams, le Team Peugeot Hansen
relèvera un nouveau défi et visera sa cinquième victoire et son
neuvième podium de l’année les 19 et 20 septembre prochains.
Après Hockenheim en début de saison, le Championnat du Monde FIA de Rallycross s’apprête à faire à
nouveau étape dans l’un des hauts lieux du grand cirque de la Formule 1 : Barcelone. Le tracé, en sens
inverse des aiguilles d’une montre, n’empruntera qu’une partie du circuit du Grand Prix : une section terre
sera associée à ses derniers virages pour former une boucle de 1 137 mètres. Il est à parier que les
spectateurs espagnols qui seront installés dans les gradins ne la quitteront pas des yeux et réserveront
aux concurrents une chaleureuse ola pour cette grande première.
Tous les pilotes découvriront donc le circuit où, Timmy Hansen, ancien pistard, devrait être à son
avantage. Vainqueur en Norvège et en France, il entend bien tirer essayer de conquérir une troisième
victoire consécutive au volant de sa PEUGEOT 208 WRX #21 et de se rapprocher ainsi de Petter Solberg
au championnat pilotes (37 points d’écart).
Malchanceux sur ses terres après ses victoires acquises en Allemagne et au Canada, son équipier Davy
Jeanney fera tout pour retrouver les avant-postes. Grâce à la mobilisation de toute l’équipe, sa PEUGOT
208 WRX #17 a pu être remise en état à temps pour l’épreuve espagnole après l’accident dont il a été
victime à Lohéac. Le pilote français aura à cœur de récompenser avec brio les efforts de ses mécaniciens.
En marge de la course des Supercars, Kevin Hansen disputera la sixième épreuve du championnat RX
Lites. Actuellement en tête du cette compétition réservée aux meilleurs espoirs de ce sport, le jeune pilote
du Peugeot Red Bull Hansen Junior Team tentera d’augmenter son avance.
« Il s’agit d’une nouvelle épreuve. Timmy ayant couru en monoplace, je connais un peu la partie asphalte. Je
pense qu’elle sera assez éprouvante pour les pneus. Je ne peux pas encore parler de la partie terre car je ne
l’ai pas encore vue ; mais le tracé a l’air très bien. Je suis plutôt optimiste : je pense que cette piste devrait
nous convenir. J’espère que nous pourrons faire une bonne course et conforter notre avance en tête du
championnat Teams. Nous connaissons une période faste depuis plusieurs courses avec nos PEUGEOT 208
WRX mais nous savons aussi que la frontière entre la victoire et l’insuccès est parfois très ténue ».
La course de Barcelone sera retransmise à la télévision dans plus de 120 pays à travers le monde. Les
demi-finales et finales seront diffusées en direct en France sur L’Equipe 21, ainsi qu’en Suède sur TV10.

The Lions’ 208 WRX ready to roar in Barcelona!
With their distinctive blue livery adorned by raging bulls, the two
PEUGEOT 208 WRXs are revving up in a bid to show a clean pair of
heels to their rivals in Barcelona next weekend during Round 10 of the
fiercely-disputed FIA World Rallycross Championship. Leading the way
in the Teams’ standings, Team Peugeot Hansen has a fifth victory and
ninth podium finish of the 2015 campaign solidly in its sights on
September 19-20.
After stopping off at Hockenheim back at the beginning of the season, the FIA World Rallycross
Championship is preparing to visit another of Formula 1’s most iconic venues in the shape of Barcelona’s
Circuit de Catalunya. The rallycross track – which will run in an anti-clockwise direction – will only
borrow the final few corners of the famous Grand Prix circuit, to which will be added a gravel section to
complete a 1.137km lap. It has been designed so that spectators sat in the grandstands won’t miss a
second of the action as they offer competitors a warm Spanish welcome at this eagerly-anticipated
première.
The track will represent a new challenge for all of the drivers. However, as a former circuit racer, Timmy
Hansen hopes to steal a march over his adversaries. After tallying back-to-back successes in the
championship’s two most recent outings in Norway and France, his firm objective is to claim a third
consecutive victory behind the wheel of his #21 PEUGEOT 208 WRX as he bids to reduce the 37-point
gap that currently separates him from championship leader Petter Solberg.
Out of luck on home turf following triumphs earlier in the season in Germany and Canada, team-mate
Davy Jeanney is determined to return to the sharp end of the field. Thanks to the outstanding efforts of
the entire team, his #17 PEUGEOT 208 WRX has been fully repaired and rebuilt in time for Barcelona
after his accident at Lohéac last weekend – and the Frenchman is eager to repay his mechanics’ hard
work in style.
Beyond the headlining Supercar class, Kevin Hansen will contest the sixth round of the RX Lites
championship. Arriving in Spain at the top of the standings in a category that is overflowing with talented
rallycross stars of tomorrow, the young Peugeot Red Bull Hansen Junior Team driver will be keen to
extend his advantage over his closest pursuers.
“This event will be new for everybody involved, although I do have some prior experience of the asphalt
section of the circuit from Timmy’s single-seater days and I expect it to be quite demanding on the tyres.
I can’t comment on the gravel section as I have yet to see it, but the overall track looks interesting and I
am optimistic that it should play to our strengths. I hope we can have a successful weekend and
consolidate our lead in the Teams’ classification. We’ve enjoyed a fantastic run recently with our
PEUGEOT 208 WRXs but we are also well aware that winning and losing in this sport are sometimes
separated by a very fine line.”
The action from Barcelona will be broadcast on TV in more than 120 countries all around the world.
The semi-finals and final will be televised live in France on L’Equipe 21 and in Sweden on TV10.
