Pathologist who will screen your child for any speech or language delays.

An opportunity for parents and caregivers to connect through a facilitated meeting.
Art Club: Modeling and Sculpting
For children 3-6 years of age and their parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Children will have the opportunity to explore and create through open-ended activities using various
doughs and clays. Parents and children should be ready to get messy!
Infant Massage—3 week series
For parents/guardians and/or caregivers with children from birth to pre-crawling
A Certified Infant Massage Instructor/Parent Educator will share techniques to help you understand
and respond to your baby’s cues, relax and soothe your baby’s discomforts, improve your baby’s
sleep and much more……… Massage oil and instructional handouts provided.

Introduction to Solids and Making Your Own Babyfood
For parents with infants from 4-8 months at time of workshop
Join an Early Years Educator and come learn how to successfully introduce solids. We will also
discuss how to make your own babyfood, a timeline for introducing new foods, and ways to make
feeding your baby fun and easy.
Daddy Playgroup / Groupe de jeu pour papa
An opportunity for fathers and other male caregivers (uncles, grandfathers,
big brothers, etc…) to connect within an early learning environment.
Une occasion pour papa, oncle, grand-papa, etc. d’interagir avec d’autres

Babywearing and You - With a representative from Milkface!
Come and join a representative from Milkface and learn about the many benefits of
babywearing. You will have the opportunity to try out different carriers and discuss
babywearing questions.

Pour les enfants de 3 à 6 ans accompagné par un adulte
Venez cuisiner avec votre enfant dans un milieu agréable tout en travaillant leurs compétences de
mathématiques, sciences, nutrition, art et lecture. Le but des petits chefs est d'encourager une
attitude positive envers une bonne alimentation saine. Par l'introduction de techniques culinaires de
base, les enfants s’amuseront à préparer divers recettes!
Positive Discipline
What is the difference between discipline and punishment? Do all children have
tantrums? Join an Early Years Educator for a workshop on the ins and outs of
behaviour, and strategies for handling challenging situations.

An Early Years Educator will be available during playgroup to answer questions one on one, and
provide information and resources on a variety of topics relating to early childhood.

Healthy Child Development Screening Session
A public health nurse will be available to complete a developmental screening
session with you and your child. If you have any questions or concerns, supports will be provided.
Questions can be answered in both English and French.
Dental Health Screening and Information Session
Come and meet a Dental Hygienist during our playgroup. Information and
resources are available to learn more about dental health in children 0-6 years old. Questions can be
answered in both English and French.
Power of Dads
Build strong fathering skills and discover strategies to help your children reach their full potential. For
expectant fathers as well as dads with children newborn to 6 years.
Workshop will be facilitated by Dave Elder, Public Health Nurse and Dad!

As of June 1st 2014, all First Words Screening clinics will no longer be on a drop-in, first come, first
serve basis. In order to attend a screening clinic, families will now need to register on-line. The on-line
registration calendar will be on the First Words web-site. firstwords.ca

Let’s Get Moving!
For children 3-6 years old and their parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Just as kids need to develop their reading and writing literacy, they also need to develop their physical
literacy. Join us outside for some fun and active games to get the kids moving! We will play old
favourites such as hopscotch and red light green light.
