Join a certified personal trainer as she shares tips and exercises to help get you back into shape while at the same
time interacting with your little one in a fun environment!
Kindergarten Information Session—Nepean Sportsplex 1701 Woodroffe Avenue Halls A & B
Will your child be beginning Kindergarten in September 2016? Are you trying to decide which school board will best
suit your child and family? Come out for an evening of information before kindergarten registration begins. There will
be representation from the 4 school boards as well as the private schools in Ottawa and you will have the opportunity
to ask questions. You will also get information about the various resources available to you and your family in your
community.

Little Book Worms: The Snowy Day—2 times to choose from
For children 3 to 6 years of age and their parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
A perfect opportunity for you and your child to enjoy the magic of books! Join us in your pajamas for an afternoon or
evening of fun as we read this wonderful story of a little boy who enjoys the experiences of a snowy day! Children will
have the opportunity to participate in activities related to the book.
Breastfeeding Information Session
Pregnant? Make sure you know how to get breastfeeding off to a smooth start! Be ready BEFORE your baby arrives
by attending a prenatal breastfeeding session taught by a Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Each new mother will
receive a valuable information package and priceless confidence all FREE of charge. To register for this session or to

Every Child Ready to Read Workshop Series: Writing
Offered by the Early Literacy Specialists of Ottawa. For parents and/guardians of children 0-4
Writing is an important communication skill that children can start developing from birth. Before a child can write, they
need to build many physical, cognitive and communication skills. This work-shop will help you
understand the various stages of writing and drawing and give you helpful hints and tips to
encourage and support fine motor development in children. Be ready to discover and play!

Building Resiliency in Young Children—2 part workshop
For parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
What does resilience mean? In this 2 part workshop we will focus on the role parents play in increasing
resilience in their child as well as explore practical tools to help their children develop strategies to be more
resilient over time.
Story time with the Librarian
Join a librarian from the Ottawa Public Library as she facilitates a special circle time with songs, stories and
rhymes!

Toilet Learning Workshop
For parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Be pro-active in your approach to toilet learning. Better understand the signs of readiness to ensure a smooth
transition from diapering. This workshop compiles current research with a respectful approach to this important
milestone.
Sensory Exploration!
For children 3 to 6 years of age and their parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Children (and adults) learn best and retain the most information when they engage their senses. By giving
children the opportunity to investigate materials, you’re helping them develop and refine their cognitive, social
and emotional, physical, creative and linguistic skills. Join us as we explore through our senses!
Music with Baby! (During Industrial Baby Playgroup)
Introduce your baby to the joy of music! We will explore with different instruments while singing songs, finger plays,
bounces, games and rhymes that you can also use at home. No registration required.

Story Walk
For children 2-6 years old and their parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Join us for an outdoor adventure and discover a new way to read books with your
child! Pages of a storybook will be placed along a path where families can enjoy the
outdoors while reading a story. Children will also have the opportunity to participate in a
take home activity while warming up to a nice cup of hot chocolate!
Please dress appropriately for the weather.

There will be two sessions to choose from: Parenting your 2 year old and/or Parenting your 3 year old.
Parenting can be wonderful and rewarding, but it can also be difficult and challenging. Join us as we
discuss the benefits of positive discipline for both you and your child. Learn age appropriate positive
discipline strategies to help your child understand what is important.
Understanding Children’s Sleep Habits - Information Session
An Early Years Educator will be available to provide information and tips on healthy sleep habits,
and to discuss challenges you may be having. Handouts and book recommendations will be provided.
