Come and meet a Dental Hygienist during our playgroup. Information and resources
are available to learn more about dental health in children 0-6 years old.

Kids on the Move!
For children from 3 to 6 years of age and their parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Just as kids need to develop their reading and writing literacy, they also need to develop their physical
literacy. Join us for some fun and active games to get the kids moving!
Visit with a Dietitian (During Don Reid Playgroup)
A registered Community Dietitian will be available during playgroup to answer questions and provide
Information on healthy eating habits.
From Scribbling to Writing: Supporting Pre-Writing Skills in Young Children
For parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Scribbling and drawing are not only fun for your children, but they're the result of a number of cognitive
and motor milestones coming together. By understanding what scribbling and drawing reveal, you can
help your child along the path towards writing.

Salsa Babies – Latin Beat for Tiny Feet!® - DEMO SESSION
Salsa Babies® is a dance class that helps new moms get back in shape with the best little partners of all –
their babies! With little ones snuggled into baby carriers, moms learn popular Latin dances while babies
shake maraca rattles and bounce along to the Salsa beat! Classes are appropriate for babies approximately 6-8 weeks of age and up, as long as moms are comfortable supporting the baby in a carrier for the
duration of the class. All levels of fitness and dance experience are welcome.
Baby carriers are required. During Baby Playgroup, no registration required.
Hanging Out With Dad Playgroup / Groupe de jeu Je m’amuse avec papa
An opportunity for fathers and other male caregivers (uncles, grandfathers, big brothers, etc…)
to connect within an early learning environment. / Une occasion pour papa, oncle, grand-papa, etc.

During Baby Playgroup. Join us to have your breastfeeding questions answered by a Board
Certified Lactation Consultant in a relaxed, community environment. Benefit from mother-to-mother
support, encouragement, and valuable information on breastfeeding.
No registration required.

and make your own musical instruments to take home and enjoy.
Every Child Ready to Read Workshop Series: Playing
Offered by the Early Literacy Specialists. For parents and/guardians of children 0-4
Children learn through play and they learn from everything they do. As a parent/guardian, you are your child’s first
teacher. This workshop will give you a better understanding of the importance of play and explore how to turn every
experience into a learning opportunity for your child. You will leave with lots of ideas and resources to provide your
child with a rich play environment in your own home. Get ready to play!

Being Wired: Good or Bad?
For parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Access to technology and the use of tablets, computers or smart phone is now present in our lives 24/7. This
workshop will explore the impacts of screen time on children’s physical, cognitive and emotional development as
well as adult-child relationships. Learn how to maximize the benefits of using technology in your house while
minimizing the negative effects.
Visit with a Dietitian
A registered Community Dietitian will be available during playgroup to answer questions and provide
Information on healthy eating habits.
Growing Up with Many Languages
Offered by First Words. For parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Common questions affecting bilingual families will be addressed in this workshop. Come learn how to
introduce a new language, tips on how to encourage your child’s communication, speech and language milestones
and First Words services. Cet atelier est offert an anglais seulement.
Story time with the Librarian (During Baby and Me Playgroup)
Join a librarian from the Ottawa Public Library as she facilitates circle time with songs, stories and rhymes!
Family Math
For children 4 to 6 years old and their parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Join us for this 3 session workshop series where parents and their children participate in games
and activities that reinforce skills and develop math concepts. Must register for all sessions.

blanket for your baby to lie on.

For parents/families wanting more information about licensed home child care.
Join us to discuss the benefits of licensed home child care and how agencies can
support, monitor and facilitate care for your child/ren.
