Message du Président de l’UEG
L'année 2014 est presque terminée et elle fut une nouvelle fois bien
remplie avec les derniers mois qui furent particulièrement intenses et
importants…
Les manifestations, réunions, déplacements se sont enchainés à un
rythme effréné mais le partage et l’échange sur le thème qui nous
réunit – la gymnastique – sont si plaisants, intéressants et
enrichissants que je n’ai pas vu le temps passer...
Lors du Congrès de la FIG qui s’est tenu fin octobre à Tachkent/UZB,
son Président, le Prof. Bruno Grandi, a évoqué les deux prochaines
années qui nous séparent des Jeux Olympiques à Rio et qui seront
ses dernières à la tête de cette organisation et a ainsi déclenché les premiers
questionnements liés à sa succession.
L’admission de dix nouvelles fédérations dont celles de la Bosnie Herzégovine (BIH) et du
Kosovo (KOS) va permettre l’expansion de l’Union Européenne de Gymnastique (UEG)
puisqu’ il appartiendra à son assemblée générale l’an prochain à Bratislava (SVK) de
valider l’admission de ces nouvelles fédérations.
Avec 50 fédérations affiliées sur 142 au total, l’UEG dont la représentativité est assurée,
est l’union continentale la plus importante de la FIG, devant l’Asie avec 38 membres, les
Amériques 28, l’Afrique 24 et l’Océanie 2.
Autre temps fort de ces dernières semaines : le séminaire de l’UEG organisé à Londres fin
novembre où nous avons pu traiter, discuter et débattre sur « la gymnastique de demain et
d’après-demain » avec les membres du CP et du CE UEG et mené par des intervenants
extérieurs. Ce furent deux journées fructueuses qui nous ont permis de poser les bases
des changements souhaités pour l’avenir de notre sport.
Mais comment se sont passées les manifestations de l'UEG ?
La gymnastique de loisir, tout comme le TeamGym, sont des disciplines en plein essor car
elles représentent une véritable alternative au sport de compétition et à la gymnastique de
très haut niveau et répondent ainsi aux évolutions de la société actuelle.
L’EUROGYM et le lancement de l’événement test GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE à
Helsingborg en Suède, le GOLDEN AGE GYM FESTIVAL à Toulouse en France et le
Championnat d'Europe TeamGym à Reykjavik/ISL nous ont ravis tant au niveau de
l’organisation impeccable des manifestations qu’au niveau de l’engouement suscité par
ces disciplines !
Pour terminer, je tiens à remercier chaleureusement non seulement tous les organisateurs
de nos manifestations, mais également tous les membres des Autorités de l'UEG ainsi que
tous nos partenaires et la FIG pour leur soutien sans faille.
Je vous souhaite à toutes et à tous de Joyeuses Fêtes de fin d'année et une bonne et
heureuse année 2015 qui sera sans nul doute… européenne ! Mais nous y reviendrons…

Message de la Chef Médias de l’UEG
Si l’on dresse le bilan de ces six derniers mois, peu de jours se sont
passés sans que l’on ne parle de gymnastique...
Entre événements européens et mondiaux, la totalité des disciplines a
été représentée. Les 13èmes ChM d’AER, 24èmes ChM d’ACRO, 9ème
EUROGYM avec test event du GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE,
2èmes JOJ, 33èmes ChM GR, 4ème GOLDEN AGE GYM FESTIVAL,
45èmes ChM ART, 10èmes ChE TG et 30èmes ChM TRA sans oublier les
stages d’entraînement et cours pour entraîneurs UEG se sont
enchaînés avec de jolies performances et de très bons résultats de la
part de nos gymnastes européens.
Ce fut également le temps de rendez-vous officiels pour les instances de la gymnastique :
le Congrès de la Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique fin octobre et le Séminaire de
l’Union Européenne de Gymnastique fin novembre où il était plus que jamais question de
l’avenir de notre sport.
L’UEG a donc pour sa part organisé ses événements grand-public et son Championnat
TeamGym, une discipline qui lui est propre.
Ainsi le 9ème EUROGYM ou le festival de la jeunesse européenne s’est déroulé en juillet
dernier à Helsingborg/SWE : quelques 4600 jeunes étaient présents et 22 nations
représentées pour ce rendez-vous bisannuel… A noter dans le cadre de cette édition, le
lancement du concours Gym For Youth Challenge, événement test qui a réuni 25 groupes
de 13 pays avec 650 inscrits.
Quelques semaines après ce premier succès était organisé en France, le Golden Age
Gym Festival ou le rendez-vous gymnique de la génération des 50 ans et plus.
Environ 1600 seniors venus de 17 pays européens se sont retrouvés lors d’une semaine
sportive à Toulouse pour participer à des workshops, présenter leurs prestations de
groupes et profiter des excursions et découvrir ainsi la région. Cette 4ème édition fut une
véritable réussite et ces 2 rendez-vous de Gymnastique pour Tous sont définitivement en
phase avec la société d’aujourd’hui d’où leur impressionnant potentiel d’évolution.
Enfin, le calendrier des manifestations de l’UEG s’est terminé par les Championnats
d’Europe TeamGym qui étaient organisés à Reykjavik en Islande. Rappelons que cette
discipline gymnique est une spécificité européenne et donc de l’UEG mais son
engouement fut tel que sa popularité n’est plus à démontrer et que l’on prédit de beaux
jours à ce sport dans l’ère du temps !
Cette seconde partie de l’année 2014 se termine intensément mais passionnément et je
vous souhaite le meilleur pour l’année 2015 qui se profile et qui représentera un tournant
dans l’histoire de la gymnastique européenne avec l’organisation des 1ers Jeux
Européens et « leur petite révolution gymnique » à Bakou en Azerbaïdjan qui s’articuleront
autour des Championnats d’Europe d’Artistique, de Rythmique, d’Acrobatique et d’Aérobic
et qui se terminera avec le Congrès non électif de mi-mandat de l’UEG fin novembre en
préparation de l’année olympique qui suivra !

Stages d’entraînement et cours pour entraîneurs UEG
2014
Comme chaque année, l’UEG a organisé durant l’été 2014 et
prépare d’ores et déjà pour l’été 2015 ses stages d’entraînement
pour les différentes disciplines, rendez-vous qui sont nécessaires
au développement de la gymnastique européenne et qui sont
devenus au fil des ans des événements incontournables dans le
calendrier des manifestations UEG.
L’objectif est de créer pendant quelques jours et dans un contexte
favorable une réelle et bonne collaboration entre experts,
entraineurs, gymnastes et de favoriser et valoriser l’échange
d’expérience entre les différents intervenants et participants.

45èmes championnats du monde de gymnastique artistique et 80ème Congrès de la
FIG
La gymnastique européenne à l’honneur et l’UEG en première ligne.
 Au sein d’un calendrier de déplacements et réunions chargé, notons 2 rendez-vous cruciaux
auxquels s’est rendu le Président de l’Union Européenne de Gymnastique ; en effet, du 3 au 12
octobre 2014, l’élite de la gymnastique artistique mondiale était réunie à Nanning/CHN pour les
45èmes championnats du monde. L’événement était ouvert à l’ensemble des fédérations affiliées à
la Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) et constituait déjà une étape importante sur la
route des JO de 2016, à Rio de Janeiro (BRA).
A mi-chemin de cette échéance olympique, ce mondial de Nanning a dessiné la nouvelle
hiérarchie de la gymnastique artistique et de ses athlètes en lice pour les médailles en 2016. Parmi
les 79 fédérations inscrites à Nanning, représentant quelque 680 gymnastes, 38, soit près de la
moitié, sont affiliées à l’Union Européenne de Gymnastique (UEG). Son Président, Georges
Guelzec (FRA) a tenu à s’associer à cette forte représentation et était présent en Chine aux côtés
de ses membres et de leurs athlètes. Ancien gymnaste de l’élite mondiale lui-même, il a suivi les
compétitions avec un regard d’expert.
Il a également saisi cette opportunité pour croiser ses collègues membres de l’Exécutif FIG,
notamment son Président, le Prof. Bruno Grandi (ITA). Il leur a donné en primeur les dernières
informations sur les préparatifs de 1ers Jeux Européens. A cette occasion, la gymnastique
s’apprête à vivre une petite révolution puisque, pour la première fois dans un rendez-vous de ce
niveau, les finales des différentes disciplines se présenteront au public en alternance.
Sur ce thème des réformes en gymnastique, le Président Guelzec a déjà et à plusieurs occasions
exprimé sa conception et sa vision pour une refonte et un développement durable de son sport :
« La gymnastique a un besoin urgent de revisiter ses formats de compétitions pour renforcer son
attractivité. Les réactions du public, des médias, des télévisions nous le confirment. Le temps d’un
changement fondamental, en profondeur est venu ! »
Cette réflexion stratégique fut d’ailleurs au centre du séminaire qui s’est déroulé les 28 et 29
novembre dernier à Londres.
Pour l’Europe et ses gymnastes, ce championnat du monde fut contrasté. Certes, l’UEG se félicite
de ses seize médailles, dont quatre d’or, obtenues par ses représentants, mais peut regretter les
quelques centièmes de points qui ont parfois manqué aux équipes pour monter sur le podium,
hormis la magnifique médaille de bronze de l’équipe féminine russe. Il est vrai que dans cette
compétition par équipes, chinois, japonais et américains ont été impériaux et n’ont laissé que peu
d’espace à leurs adversaires.
Aussi, Georges Guelzec s’est-il félicité notamment des deuxièmes places au concours général du
britannique Max Whitlock et de la roumaine Larisa Iordache, ainsi que de la finale entièrement
européenne du cheval d'arçons, enlevée par Krisztian Berki (HUN) devant Filip Ude (CRO) et Cyril
Tommasone (FRA). Trois autres titres mondiaux masculins complètent ce tableau prestigieux,
ceux de Denis Abliazin (RUS) au sol, d’Oleg Verniaiev (UKR) aux barres parallèles et d’Epke
Zonderland (NED) à la barre fixe.

Chez les demoiselles, les honneurs vont avant tout à Aliya Mustafina (RUS), présente dans trois
finales, (bronze au sol et à la poutre et sixième rang aux barres asymétriques). Grosse déception
en revanche pour la malheureuse suissesse Giulia Steingruber, championne d’Europe, qui est
passée hélas à côté de sa finale au saut (5ème rang).
Nanning fut aussi pour l’UEG et les délégations européennes présentes en Chine, une occasion
de retrouvailles autour d’un cocktail de bienvenue. Le Président Guelzec a voulu rassembler et
s’adresser à ses membres pour leur rappeler que l’Europe est une des composantes essentielles
de la Communauté gymnique internationale. Présent parmi les invités, le Président de la FIG, le
Prof. Bruno Grandi, a rappelé quant à lui la place essentielle que tient l’UEG au sein de la
Fédération internationale et s’est félicité de son dynamisme.
Invité d’honneur à ce même cocktail, le Président de Longines, M. Walter von Känel, a rappelé
avec pertinence le rôle joué par l’horloger suisse dans le développement de la gymnastique depuis
ses premiers chronométrages en 1912 déjà, lors de la Fête fédérale de gymnastique suisse ! Et
d’ajouter : « Longines est fière de sa contribution à la gymnastique internationale, notamment à
travers les derniers développements du système de contrôle vidéo IRCOS, véritable outil pour une
plus grande justice sportive dans le sport. » a-t-il souligné.
 Du 26 au 30 octobre 2014, la Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) organisait son
80ème Congrès dans la capitale ouzbek Tachkent, sous la présidence du Prof. Bruno Grandi (ITA).
A mi-chemin de l’échéance électorale de 2016, celui-ci a livré un premier éclairage sur les
mutations en cours au sein de l’instance mondiale de la gymnastique.

C’est dans cet esprit de réformes et d’innovations que l’UEG entendait faire valoir ses projets et
visions pour que ce sport, pilier du mouvement olympique, franchisse un nouveau pas dans la
modernité. Son Président, Georges Guelzec, représente à lui seul 48 des 137 fédérations affiliées
à la FIG. Aussi, son propos à la tribune de l’Assemblée générale FIG était-t-il attendu avec
beaucoup d’attention par les quelques 300 délégués qui avaient fait le déplacement à Tachkent.
Parmi les sujets que le Président Guelzec a développés, on retiendra la participation de la
gymnastique européenne aux premiers Jeux européens, qui se dérouleront du 12 au 28 juin 2015,
à Bakou (AZE). A cette occasion, les disciplines de compétitions suivantes de l’UEG : artistique,
rythmique, trampoline, aérobic et acrobatique, seront présentées au public et en alternance ! Selon
ses propres termes : « La gymnastique doit rompre avec ses habitudes et présenter un visage
relooké, attractif, séduisant, pour un public exigeant et des médias, télévision en tête, à la
recherche de nouvelles émotions, de nouvelles dramaturgies. A Baku, nous allons revisiter nos
formats de compétitions et franchir un nouveau pas vers la modernité !»
Profitant de cette assemblée statutaire, le Président de l’UEG a annoncé l’organisation un mois
plus tard d’un deuxième séminaire après celui entièrement dédié à la Communication de mars
2014. Ce dernier souligne la volonté de l’Union et de ses membres de mieux cerner les attentes du
marché du sport, en imaginant des solutions originales, en pleine phase avec la gymnastique
d’aujourd’hui et de demain.
Dès l’ouverture des débats, les 70 fédérations affiliées présentes se sont projetées vers cet
horizon, en apprenant que les deux années les séparant des JO de Rio de Janeiro, seront les
dernières de la présidence Grandi. C’est en effet le Président de la FIG lui-même qui a délivré
cette information dans son message de bienvenue aux participants, les invitant du même coup à
préparer cette échéance.
Dans ce même contexte de 2016, le Congrès FIG s’est clairement exprimé pour la candidature de
Tokyo (JPN) contre celle d’Orlando (USA), pour l’organisation de la prochaine assemblée générale
élective.
Autre temps fort de ce Congrès, l’admission de nouvelles fédérations, portant le total à 142, dont
50 européennes. A ce titre, citons l’admission au sein de la FIG de la Bosnie Herzégovine (BIH) et
du Kosovo (KOS), lequel vient de faire l’objet d’une reconnaissance provisoire du Comité
International Olympique. Cette expansion a ravi la Directrice administrative de l’UEG, Madame
Kirsi Erofejeff Engman (FIN) : «Comme le prévoient les dispositions statutaires, il appartiendra à
l’assemblée générale de l’UEG l’an prochain à Bratislava (SVK) de valider l’admission de ces
nouvelles fédérations, lesquelles sont d’ores et déjà en possession de tous les documents
administratifs nécessaires.» a-t-elle commenté.
Avec 50 fédérations affiliées, l’UEG reste l’union continentale la plus importante de la FIG, devant
l’Asie avec 38 membres, les Amériques 28, l’Afrique 24 et l’Océanie 2.

Séminaire de l’Union Européenne de Gymnastique - Londres/GBR
Les 28 et 29 novembre 2014, l’Exécutif de l’Union Européenne de Gymnastique (UEG) s’est réuni
à Londres (GBR), à l’invitation de son Président Georges Guelzec (FRA), dans le cadre d’un
séminaire extraordinaire, dédié au développement de ce sport olympique majeur.
C’est grâce à l’initiative spontanée de British Gymnastics et de sa Directrice Exécutive, Jane Allen,
que l’UEG a saisi l’opportunité d’organiser ce séminaire à Londres.
Les membres présents ont été sollicités pour mener une réflexion sur l’avenir de la gymnastique
afin de répondre aux nouvelles attentes des athlètes, du public et des médias.
Le président Georges Guelzec et ses collègues de l’Exécutif furent guidés par les conseils avisés
et recommandations de deux éminents invités, d’une part M. Kit McConnell (NZL), Directeur des
Sports du Comité International Olympique à Lausanne et M. Ingolfur Hannesson (ISL),
Responsable des Droits Sportifs de l’Eurovision à Genève, d’autre part.
A noter également la présence et les commentaires avisés et impressions de Barbara Slater,
ancienne gymnaste et Directrice de BBC Sport ainsi que la présentation de Messieurs Mark Jörg
et Paul Bristow sur les Championnats des sports européens prévus en 2018.
Ce séminaire extraordinaire était animé par Paul J. Roberts (GBR), journaliste, photographe,
homme de terrain et grand connaisseur du marché sportif international.
Au terme de la première journée du séminaire, les membres de son Exécutif et son Président
Georges Guelzec (FRA) ont pleinement pris la mesure des défis que ce sport olympique majeur
devra relever à court, moyen et long terme, pour perpétuer son développement.
Conscients de participer à un rendez-vous déterminant qui marquera les annales de l’UEG, ils ont
participé avec leur point de vue de spécialistes et techniciens de la gymnastique à des discussions
animées et à un vif débat avec un dialogue et une confrontation avec les intervenants extérieurs
présents pour l’occasion.
La matinée avait démarré avec le discours de bienvenue de Georges Guelzec et l’introduction de
Paul J. Roberts (GBR), modérateur de ce séminaire qui a donné un certain nombre de pistes de
réflexion qui ont servi de base de travail aux participants pour les deux jours suivants.
Puis ce fut le tour de M. Kit McConnell (NZL) - CIO - qui a rappelé la position très enviée de la
gymnastique, laquelle figure au premier rang des disciplines du programme olympique, en
compagnie de l’athlétisme et de la natation.
« La gymnastique est partenaire des Jeux Olympiques depuis le départ et grâce à ses évolutions
et aux changements opérés au niveau du sport et de ses disciplines, elle fait donc aujourd’hui,
après les Jeux de Londres, partie des 3 activités les plus importantes avec l’athlétisme et la
natation. Vous ne devez pas vous arrêter là et profiter de cette position forte. La société change, le
sport en général également et nous devons réfléchir à la manière d’accueillir et de gérer ces
changements dans l’avenir. Nous avons le même processus au niveau du CIO – il nous faut nous
adapter et il est important de reconnaître où nous en sommes et où nous allons » a déclaré
l’orateur à un auditoire très attentif, et de terminer en précisant que « le sport doit être intègre pour

être valable et la gymnastique doit conserver ses valeurs qui l’ont rendue forte car c’est ce qui
attire les gens. »
Pour sa part, M. Ingolfur Hannesson (ISL) - EUROVISION - a insisté sur la nécessité impérative de
revisiter les formats des compétitions pour faire de la gymnastique un produit télévisuel.
« La gymnastique européenne est stable depuis quelques années en terme d’audience mais il y a
des signaux d’alerte et nous devons trouver ensemble des solutions et compromis entre votre
sport et les attentes de la télévision pour que celle-ci ne décline pas » a-t-il lancé à l’auditoire.
L’après-midi fut consacrée aux discussions de groupes.
Les réflexions et conclusions apportées par les participants et synthétisées par Paul J. Roberts se
sont avérées orientées dans la même direction, celle du changement, de l’innovation et donc du
futur !
Le séminaire s’est achevé samedi 29 novembre sur la ferme volonté exprimée par les membres de
son Exécutif, d’opérer les choix motivés par les nouvelles attentes du marché sportif à court et
moyen terme. Un échéancier a d’ailleurs été planifié et le travail se poursuit pour pouvoir présenter
des éléments précis et propositions concrètes lors du Congrès UEG de Bratislava/SVK en
novembre 2015.
Paul J. Roberts (GBR) a félicité l’UEG et son Président Georges Guelzec (FRA) de cette initiative
et de la participation active des membres de l’Exécutif présents. « Ce fut un réel plaisir de passer
ces deux journées en compagnie des autorités de l’UEG et d’être au service d’une telle
organisation résolument tournée vers l’avenir ; de mener les discussions et d’animer les débats
autour du futur de la gymnastique avec des participants si impliqués. Ces deux jours furent
extrêmement intéressants, importants, voire déterminants et je peux affirmer que nous avons été
efficaces.» a-t-il déclaré dans sa conclusion.
Pour sa part, le Président de l’UEG s’est félicité du succès de ce séminaire et a exprimé le vœu
que les discussions de Londres se concrétisent et produisent leurs effets positifs aussi rapidement
que possible. Il a également remercié la Fédération hôte, British Gymnastics et sa Directrice Jane
Allen de leur participation active et de leur soutien.
« Un tel rendez-vous, sous cette forme et dans ce genre de conditions n’avait pas eu lieu depuis
2007 et j’avoue que mes attentes étaient grandes quant à ce qui allait ressortir des discussions
des deux derniers jours. Je suis plus que satisfait de l’implication des membres du CP et du CE et
du travail qu’a fourni l’équipe/la famille de l’UEG. L’important est d’avoir conscience que nous
sommes à un tournant dans l’histoire de notre sport et que son avenir est entre nos mains. Un
certain nombre d’idées et de mesures sont à retenir ; le travail continue mais les choses sont
désormais amorcées… »
Dans cet esprit de réformes, en juin prochain, l’UEG expérimentera une nouvelle formule de
présentation de ses disciplines en compétitions, basée sur l’alternance, à l’occasion des 1ers Jeux
européens, à Bakou (AZE). Chacun s’est réjoui de l’initiative, laquelle représente un premier pas
vers d’autres réformes dont la gymnastique s’inspirera pour dessiner son nouveau visage dans les
années à venir.

GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE - évènement test
Cette épreuve test était organisée en juillet dernier à Helsingborg en Suède dans le cadre de la
9ème édition de l’EUROGYM.
Avant même le démarrage le 13 juillet 2014 de l’évènement gymnique le plus « FUN » de l’été
2014, ce fut le lancement de la première édition du « Europe Gym for Youth Challenge » qui a
marqué les esprits.
Comme l’expliquait Maria Ståhl, membre du CT gymnastique pour tous de l’UEG et de la
Fédération suédoise de gymnastique : « Musique, joie, divertissement et innovation sont les mots
clés de cette première, cet événement test, qui est une nouvelle occasion pour les jeunes en
Europe de se réunir, s'amuser et s’inspirer mutuellement pour développer la chorégraphie et
améliorer leurs performances. »
Mais qu'est-ce que l'EUROPE GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE?
La première édition de ce concours, Europe Gym for Youth Challenge (EGFYC), était un
événement test qui avait lieu le 12 juillet 2014 dans l’Helsingborg Arena, en Suède.
Les équipes participantes étaient évaluées à partir de différents aspects/critères et ont également
reçu des retours de la part de chorégraphes expérimentés. Les équipes pouvaient s'inscrire
uniquement au Challenge, ou rester pour l'ensemble du 9 ème festival EUROGYM 2014.
L'âge minimum requis est fixé à 12 ans. Cependant, il est permis pour 10% des participants de
chaque équipe d’avoir entre 10 ou 11 ans, équipe qui doit être composée de 6 gymnastes au
minimum.
La performance dure 3 minutes maximum, y compris l'entrée et la sortie. Dans le cas de l'utilisation
d’engins, la préparation est considérée comme faisant partie de la représentation.
La musique joue un rôle important et est prise en considération pour l'évaluation.
Chaque groupe concoure une fois et est ensuite évalué.
Deux scènes de 14 x 14 m sont chacune mises à la disposition des équipes. L'une d'elles est
équipée de tapis à dérouler. Pour optimiser la rapidité du concours, les deux zones sont utilisées
en même temps.
A Helsingborg, 25 groupes de 13 pays pour un total de 650 participants étaient inscrits à ce Test
Event dont le programme était le suivant :

Les groupes avaient la possibilité d’utiliser du matériel

• 3 tapis de réception de 2 x 3 x 0,30 m

Le fournisseur officiel de matériel de gymnastique pour le 9 ème EUROGYM 2014 était LEG.

Chaque performance était évaluée selon les critères suivants:
• valeur du show
• innovation, originalité et variété
• technique, qualité et maîtrise (sécurité)
• impression générale
Tous les critères ont la même valeur.
L'évaluation a été réalisée par un groupe d'experts ayant une vaste expérience.
Chaque groupe a eu la possibilité d'obtenir des retours sur sa performance.
La note était utilisée pour déterminer le podium de cet événement test. Toutes les équipes ont reçu
une récompense, or, argent ou bronze.
Les groupes se sont donc enchaînés pendant 1h30, passant d’un rythme à un autre, d’une
musique à une autre, avec ou sans accessoires avec des exercices d’une durée max de 3
minutes…
Cet événement était surtout le moyen pour les jeunes européens de profiter d’une occasion
supplémentaire de se rencontrer, de s'amuser et de s’affronter dans la bonne humeur sur des
chorégraphies préparées pour l’occasion et ainsi améliorer leurs performances gymniques. En
prenant une part active au développement du Gym for Youth Challenge, les participants ont
contribué à en faire un événement officiel dans le futur.

EUROGYM
2 ans après Coimbra/POR et 2 ans avant Ceske Budejovice/CZE, l’EUROGYM a
Helsingborg/SWE a accueilli plus de 4500 participants de 22 pays européens, encadrés par 400
volontaires environ… Un véritable record de participation qui prouve bien l’engouement de cette
manifestation.
Le public concerné s’est d’ailleurs largement manifesté et exprimé via les réseaux sociaux avec
Facebook, Twitter et Instagram pour les photos. Véritables plateformes d’échange et de partage,
les jeunes s’en sont donnés à cœur joie pour raconter, faire part de leurs expériences et émotions
pendant cette semaine dédiée à la gymnastique de loisirs.
L’ambiance dans laquelle s’est déroulé cet événement fut incroyable.
Il fallait constater la joie et le plaisir de tous ces jeunes de prendre part à un tel rassemblement et
la fierté qu’ils avaient à présenter leurs performances et à les partager avec leurs amis européens.
Rendez-vous est donc pris dans 2 ans en République Tchèque pour le 10ème anniversaire de cette
manifestation qui s’inscrit totalement dans l’ère du temps.

Le 9ème Festival EUROGYM 2014, à Helsingborg a comptabilisé plus de 4500 participants de 22
pays (GER, BEL, DEN, ESP, EST, FIN, FRA, GBR, GRE, ISL, ITA, LUX, MLT, NOR, NED, POR,
CZE, RUS, SLO, SUI, TUR, SWE).
L'ambiance du festival était géniale ! Les participants ont été accueillis avec une merveilleuse
cérémonie d'ouverture dans une Helsingborg Arena totalement remplie où tout le monde a pu
assister à un grand spectacle de Gymnastique pour Tous.
Chaque journée du festival a commencé avec une réunion des chefs de délégation où le CT-GpT
de l’UEG en coopération avec le COL, résumait le jour précédent et fournissait des informations
pour la journée à venir. Dans la matinée, les jeunes gymnastes ont pu participer à 43 ateliers
différents dans 11 endroits à travers toute la ville, en trampoline, spectacle de danse, gymnastique
aérobic, majorettes ou de nouvelles tendances telles que CrossFit ou Parkour.
Après les exercices du matin, venait le moment du show! Pendant toute l'après-midi, à quatre
endroits prévus aux emplacements les plus fréquentés de la ville, les participants ont pu montrer
ce qu'ils avaient appris chez eux. Pendant le festival, nous avons pu assister à environ 400
représentations, chacune étant le résultat d'un travail acharné des jeunes de différents coins
d'Europe. Beaucoup d'émotions de la part de ces gymnastes de l’EUROGYM et de leurs
performances!
Dans la soirée, chaque participant pouvait essayer de nouvelles activités, se détendre ou
rencontrer des amis dans la GymZone. C’était un espace en plein cœur de l’EUROGYM 2014,
près de la Helsingborg Arena, où les gymnastes pouvaient se retrouver et essayer un grand
nombre d'activités faites pour les jeunes par les jeunes.
Comme dans tous les festivals, il y a également eu un gala à Helsingborg où les meilleurs ont pu
se présenter. Le Gala était composé de deux présentations de 01h30 chacune. Dix-huit groupes
ont créé un spectacle sur le thème "Mouvement dans le ciel". A noter que deux d'entre eux ont été
choisis par le CT-GpT pendant les performances en Ville de l’EUROGYM 2014. Le spectacle du
soir fut sublime, magique et de très haute qualité. Beaucoup de gens ont dit que c’était
"Merveilleux"!
La cérémonie de clôture a eu lieu le dernier jour de l’EUROGYM 2014. Cette fois, le thème était
"Star de cinéma". Tout le monde a donc vraiment pu devenir une star parce que, pendant la
cérémonie de clôture, chaque participant a pu proposer et montrer les principaux éléments des
activités découvertes et pratiquées lors des différents ateliers pendant la semaine. Ils étaient
finalement 3600 à participer et vouloir ressentir l'atmosphère de la cérémonie de clôture en se
produisant devant le public.
Le Festival EUROGYM 2014 à Helsingborg fut un grand succès. Merci au COL et à la Fédération
suédoise de gymnastique pour sa coopération et la préparation de cet événement.
Le CT sait désormais que 5000 participants n’est pas une limite. Nous avons beaucoup plus de
gymnastes qui veulent venir. L'événement est de toute évidence en croissance et le CT-GpT de
l’UEG est prêt pour une prochaine édition encore plus importante. C’est pourquoi nous nous
tournons maintenant vers l'avenir et démarrons la préparation de la 10ème édition de l’EUROGYM à
Ceske Budejovice. Le prochain EUROGYM sera une édition anniversaire et aussi un moment
historique, puisque ce sera la première fois que l’évènement se déroule dans cette partie de
l'Europe. C’est l’occasion de se rapprocher de FN avec une grande tradition gymnique, mais sans
une forte présence de la Gymnastique pour Tous. C’est pourquoi toutes les FN sont les
bienvenues en République Tchèque en 2016.
Venez ressentir l'esprit de la gymnastique, celui de n’importe quel type de la gymnastique!

GOLDEN AGE GYM FESTIVAL - Toulouse/FRA
C’est finalement une jeune manifestation qui célèbre tous les 2 ans la gymnastique pour les
seniors.
Venus de 17 pays d’Europe, quelques 1600 gymnastes ont participé à la 4ème édition du Golden
Age Gym Festival qui a démarré à Toulouse le dimanche 28 septembre en France.
Les fédérations nationales représentées étaient les suivantes : BEL, CZE, DEN, EST, FIN, FRA,
GBR, GER, ITA, LAT, LTU, NOR, POR, RUS, SLO, SVK, SUI.
Tous les deux ans depuis 2008, l’Union Européenne de Gymnastique a décidé de consacrer une
semaine gymnique aux 50 ans et plus.
Après Maspalomas/ESP en 2008, Portimao/POR en 2010, Montecatini/ITA en 2012, c’est la
France et la ville de Toulouse qui accueillaient cet événement devenu au fil des ans un événement
désormais attendu avec impatience par les groupes participants. Ceux-ci se préparent alors à vivre
une expérience unique dans ambiance sportive et détendue. Ils s’entraînent et démarrent leurs
répétitions parfois dès la fin de l’édition précédente afin d’être fin prêt pour ce rendez-vous.
Plus qu’un séjour consacré au sport et dédié à la gymnastique, c’est la découverte d’une ville,
d’une région, d’un pays et de ses traditions à la fois culturelles, culinaires, touristiques… que
viennent chercher les participants. C’est aussi l’échange avec leurs homologues européens, les
rencontres, le lien social si important. Tout est fait tout au long de la semaine pour que les seniors
soient le plus souvent réunis lors des présentations et shows bien évidemment mais également à
l’occasion des repas, soirées à thèmes, excursions. Cette année, le Village, ouvert à tous, situé en
centre-ville sur les quai de la Garonne, se voulait le véritable point stratégique de la manifestation
et se fut un succès !

Les habitants et professionnels de Toulouse se sont avérés enthousiastes face à l’afflux de
gymnastes seniors dans leur ville pendant une semaine et se sont largement prêtés au jeu en
assistant aux présentations effectuées aux quatre coins de la ville et en encourageant au
maximum les festivaliers dans leurs activités !
La presse locale s’est faite l’écho de cet événement au cœur de l’actualité dont le thème revêt une
importance toute particulière, à savoir « le rôle de l’activité physique et donc de la gymnastique
dans la prévention santé ».

Rapport du Comité Technique - Gymnastique pour Tous
Plus de 100 groupes de 17 pays (BEL, CZE, DEN, EST, FIN, FRA, GER, GBR, ITA, LAT, LTU,
NOR, POR, RUS, SLO, SVK et SUI) ont participé au 4ème Golden Age Gym Festival 2014 à
Toulouse. Pour ce festival gymnique destiné aux personnes âgées de 50 ans et +, la France a
accueilli 1514 participants.
Pour la 5ème édition à Portorose en 2016, encore plus de participants sont attendus!
L’atmosphère du festival était très sympathique cette année. Les participants ont été accueillis par
une cérémonie d'ouverture des plus agréables où tout le monde a pu ressentir l'esprit du SudOuest de la France, de la région Midi-Pyrénées, ce qui a véritablement enchanté les gymnastes.
Le festival a commencé avec quelques jours de pluie, mais cela n'a pas empêché les participants
de commencer leur journée dès 8h00 heures du matin avec un atelier de réveil musculaire sur la
place principale - Place du Capitole. C’était vraiment génial de voir les participants bouger et se
dépenser de si bon matin, alors que de nombreux habitants partaient travailler et pouvaient donc
découvrir comment les seniors de différents pays pouvaient pratiquer la gymnastique.
Puis jusqu'à midi, les participants ont eu l'occasion de profiter des 26 ateliers dans 2 lieux
différents – Île Ramiers et Toulouse Beach. Parmi la diversité des ateliers, tout le monde a pu
trouver quelque chose qui lui convenait en termes d’activités gymniques comme la gym avec
matériel, fit ball, Gym Medeau, Step, Big Dance, Aqua Gym et même atelier de relaxation.
Après de telles matinées actives, les participants ont pu déjeuner dans de nombreux restaurants
du centre de Toulouse ou profiter des repas servis par le COL dans le village central du Festival à
Toulouse Beach. C’était un endroit où la bonne musique, la très bonne cuisine française et, bien
sûr, l’excellente ambiance très conviviale, ont permis aux gens de s’ouvrir aux autres et d’engager
de nombreuses discussions. Les participants ont donc pu s’y régénérer, échanger leurs
expériences et se préparer pour l'après-midi avant les performances prévues en ville.
Les performances en ville sont très importantes pour chaque groupe et pour les gymnastes. C’est
le moment où ils peuvent montrer ce qu'ils préparent depuis plusieurs mois dans leur pays. Par
conséquent, dès 17h00 heures, un grand nombre de Toulousains avait la possibilité de découvrir
de superbes ensembles venus de toute l'Europe. L'emplacement des scènes pour cette activité
dans des zones bien positionnées dans la ville, impliquait que le public ne pouvait passer à côté !
Beaucoup de gens qui revenaient du travail se sont arrêtés et ont regardé un moment les
gymnastes et le spectacle. Toulouse Beach, Quai de la Daurade et la Place du Capitole étaient
des lieux parfaits pour montrer à un maximum de gens en quoi consiste la gymnastique et comme
c’est agréable de la pratiquer pour les personnes de 50 ans et +.
Après toutes les prestations de la journée, les participants pouvaient se réunir à nouveau à
Toulouse Beach pour repas et soirées dansantes organisés chaque soir.
Beaucoup de gens se sont dépensés jusque tard dans la nuit sur la piste de danse, et ne se sont
nullement découragés pour se lever le lendemain et poursuivre leurs exercices gymniques dans le
cadre du GAGF sur la place du Capitole dans le centre de Toulouse.
Le Golden Age Festival de l'UEG à Toulouse a été bien évalué par les participants qui ont profité
de l’atmosphère conviviale et chaleureuse du sud de la France. Les participants sont rentrés chez
eux heureux! Le Comité technique Gymnastique pour Tous de l’UEG, avec une nouvelle
expérience à son actif et davantage d’idées « dans ses bagages », a déjà commencé à préparer la
prochaine édition, qui aura lieu à Portorose en Slovénie en 2016.

Championnats d’Europe de TeamGym - Reykjavik/ISL
Les 10èmes Championnats d’Europe de TeamGym ont eu lieu à Reykjavik/ISL du 15 au 18 octobre
dernier.
Le concours TeamGym est l'une des plus récentes manifestations de l'UEG qui se déroule tous les
deux ans et dont la première édition officielle a eu lieu en 1996 en Finlande.
TeamGym est une compétition par équipe dans trois disciplines différentes: le sol, le tumbling et le
mini trampoline et divisée en trois sections : équipes féminines, masculines et mixtes.
Ces trois disciplines nécessitent une bonne coordination de l'équipe, une excellente technique et
des éléments acrobatiques spectaculaires. Les compétitions de TeamGym sont reconnues pour le
très bon esprit et l'atmosphère qui y règnent. L'événement est attrayant pour les spectateurs et les
médias ainsi que pour les sponsors car il est à la fois divertissant et excitant à regarder.
Un groupe est composé de 8 à 12 gymnastes. Dans chaque discipline tous les gymnastes sont
jugés. Les groupes mixtes doivent être composés à raison de 50% de gymnastes masculins et
50% de gymnastes féminines. Tous les gymnastes participants doivent concourir au sol.
Enfin, concernant l’âge des gymnastes, le minimum requis en catégorie seniors est de 16 ans
minimum et pour les juniors de 13 ans minimum et de 17 ans maximum.
A noter que cette édition fut un véritable succès tant au niveau de son organisation parfaitement
assurée et maîtrisée par la Fédération Islandaise de Gymnastique et le comité d’organisation local,
aidés par quelques 450 volontaires dont l’efficacité fut remarquable, qu’au niveau de l’impact
qu’elle a suscitée auprès du public présent sur place mais aussi devant sa télé et plus encore
devant son écran même au-delà des frontières du pays !
Les chiffres d’audience sont à couper le souffle notamment pour les deux soirées des finales
juniors et seniors et les annonceurs ont été plus que satisfaits de leur visibilité dans le cadre de
ces diffusions sur la TV nationale islandaise.
L’événement a réalisé 34,7% de part de marché le samedi, ce qui constitue un très bon score pour
un samedi après-midi (puisque 10% est considéré comme un bon résultat pour cet horaire en TV).
En ce qui concerne les billets vendus, environ 4150 personnes étaient présentes dans la salle de
compétition le samedi ; autant dire que le hall était plein !
Cette audience massive a rejailli sur l’ambiance qui régnait pendant la manifestation ; en effet, le
public était très enthousiaste et réactif aux prestations des gymnastes. Les encouragements
étaient quasi constants et ce pour toutes les équipes quel que soit la nationalité des fans présents
dans la salle ! Alors ce soutien permanent du public mêlé à la musique actuelle sur laquelle les
gymnastes ont évolué tout au long de la compétition et le côté « FUN » de cette discipline qui ne
ressemble à aucune autre ont fait de cet événement un cocktail explosif dans l’ère du temps qui
promet un potentiel de développement énorme dans les années à venir.

Présentation, introduction et chiffres
Les 10èmes Championnats d’Europe de TeamGym se sont déroulés du 15 au 18 octobre 2014 à
Reykjavík en Islande. La salle multisports Laugardalshöll était un très bon lieu avec tous les
aménagements requis pour un tel événement de TeamGym.
Au total 14 fédérations - 2 de plus que lors des précédents Championnats d’Europe - et un total de
42 équipes (25 équipes senior et 17 équipes junior) ont participé à cet événement.
Les Fédérations qui ont pris part à la compétition en catégorie senior étaient AUT-CZE-DEN-ESTFIN-FRA-GBR-GER-ISL-ITA-NED-NOR-RUS-SWE.
Les Fédérations qui ont pris part à la compétition en catégorie junior étaient CZE-DEN-FIN-GBRGER-ISL-ITA-NOR-SWE.
Les nouveaux entrants dans la liste des Fédérations participantes comparé à 2012 étaient
l’Estonie, l’Italie et la Russie en compétition senior et l’Allemagne et l’Italie en compétition junior. Il
aurait pu y avoir davantage d'équipes section juniors et un effort supplémentaire est donc
nécessaire pour le prochain événement.
L'édition 2014 fut un grand succès à bien des égards.
Le niveau de performance dans toutes les sections fut exceptionnel avec un progrès substantiel
depuis les Championnats d’Europe d’il y a deux ans à Aarhus.
La liste définitive de toutes les fédérations médaillées se trouve sur le site Internet de l'UEG. Il est
cependant important de mentionner que le Danemark, en participant aux six sections, a remporté
cinq des six finales. La Suède a remporté la médaille d'or de la finale féminine senior. Ces
championnats furent vraiment incroyables pour le Danemark.
Les aspects techniques et nouveautés
Un certain nombre de nouveautés importantes ont été introduites pour les Championnats 2014.
La première chose concernait le nouveau Code de pointage y compris les nouvelles exigences
de la composition au sol et un meilleur équilibre entre les notes d'exécution et de difficulté en
tumbling et mini-trampoline. Le nombre de concurrents de chaque équipe a également été réduit
de 12 gymnastes + 2 réserves à 12 au total.
Le nouvel ensemble de règles et de jugement a très bien fonctionné et aucun recours contre les
notes attribuées n’a été à enregistrer.
Pour la première fois tous les gymnastes devaient avoir un numéro de compétiteur sur leur
vêtement. Numérotation qui a aidé les médias et le public à identifier les gymnastes et à
rechercher des détails sur les athlètes. Les performances de chaque gymnaste au tumbling et
mini-trampoline ont été enregistrées.
Après quatre jours de compétition, the European TeamGym All Star Team a été identifiée :
l'équipe constituée des six meilleures gymnastes féminines et des six meilleurs gymnastes
masculins. Le nombre de passages réussis en tumbling et mini-trampoline, ainsi que les valeurs
de difficulté de ces passages, ont été utilisés pour identifier les gymnastes. Le All Stars Team a été
annoncée lors du banquet.
Aussi les deux meilleurs tumblers (une femme et un homme), les deux meilleures performances au
mini trampoline, et les deux meilleures performances au sol ont été nommées. Ce type de prix est
quelque chose que les amateurs de sport du monde entier reconnaissent au sein des principaux
sports d'équipe comme le foot et le basketball.

La couverture de l’événement
Dans un pays comme l'Islande, où le TeamGym est considéré comme un «sport national», il y a
tout le temps eu un grand nombre de spectateurs qui regardent les compétitions. Environ 4.500
billets ont été vendus pour la finale.
TeamGym est aujourd'hui l'un des sports qui obtient une couverture régulière sur la télévision
nationale islandaise (RUV). RUV a diffusé la totalité de l'événement en direct des qualifications
aux finales. Une retransmission en direct Pay Per View était également disponible via le site
Internet permettant de suivre les compétitions aussi pour les gymnastes qui n’étaient pas présents
à Reykjavik.
Un séminaire intitulé "TeamGym et médias" a été organisé comme un événement parallèle par des
représentants de RUV.
Organisation
Cette compétition s’est déroulée dans des conditions exemplaires avec un comité d'organisation
local (COL) très professionnel qui, en étroite collaboration avec le Comité technique de l'UEG, a
rendu possible la préparation et le parfait déroulement de cet événement. Les conditions pour les
participants furent excellentes, en particulier avec les salles de compétition et d’entraînement et
avec la proximité des hôtels accessibles à distance de marche. Le COL a également apporté des
améliorations majeures dans le domaine de la communication en rapprochant les athlètes du
public. Cela comprenait une grande présentation d'ensemble de l'événement. La salle de
compétition était équipée de grands écrans pour annoncer en permanence les résultats et montrer
des rediffusions. Ces écrans étaient également utilisés pour présenter les photos prises par la
communauté TeamGym et marquées avec le hashtag #TeamGym2014.
Et l’événement 2016?
Les organisateurs du prochain Championnat d’Europe de TeamGym dans 2 ans accueilleront très
probablement un nombre accru de FN. Le sport se développe continuellement et n’est plus une
discipline réservée aux pays Nordiques.
Le lieu choisi pour les Championnats d'Europe 2016 devrait être décidé lors de la prochaine
réunion du CE en Janvier 2015. Jusqu'à présent, trois FN ont manifesté leur intérêt pour organiser
l'événement.

Message of the UEG President
The year 2014 is nearly finished and it was once again very busy, in
particular these last months that were quite intense and important…
Manifestations, meetings, travels were organised one after the other,
but the fact to share and exchange us on “our” topic - gymnastics - is
so pleasant, interesting and rewarding that I did not even see the time
pass…
During the FIG Congress which was held end of October in
Tashkent/UZB, its President Prof. Bruno Grandi has mentioned the
two next years which separate us from the Rio Olympic Games and
which will be his two last years at the head of this organisation; this
communication resulted in the first questionings bound to his succession.
The admission of ten new Federations including Bosnia Herzegovina (BIH) and Kosovo
(KOS) will permit the expansion of the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG). The UEG
General Assembly will have to validate the admission of these new Federations next year
in Bratislava (SVK).
With 50 affiliated Federations out of 142, the UEG is the most important continental union
of the FIG, followed by Asia with 38 members, America with 28, Africa with 24 and
Oceania with 2.
Other highlight of these last weeks: the UEG seminar organised in London end of
November, where we were able to treat, discuss and debate on “tomorrows and the day
after tomorrow’s gymnastics” with the members of the PB and EC/UEG; this seminar was
facilitated by external experts. These were two fruitful days and they have permitted us to
set down the base of the changes wished for the future of our sport.
How did the events of the UEG go?
Recreational gymnastics as well as TeamGym are fast-growing disciplines as they
represent a true alternative to competition sport and high-level gymnastics; like this, they
meet the evolutions of today’s society.
EUROGYM and the launch of the test event GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE in
Helsingborg/Sweden, the GOLDEN AGE GYM FESTIVAL in Toulouse/France and the
European TeamGym Championships in Reykjavik/Iceland have delighted us. The
organisation of these manifestations were perfect and the enthusiasm for these disciplines
is enormous!
Finally, I would like to express my warm gratitude not only to all the organisers of our
events, but also to all members of the UEG Authorities as well as to our partners and the
FIG for their never-failing support.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2015 that will for sure be…
European! We will be back...

Message of the UEG Head of Media
If we evaluate the past six months, we note that not many days have
passed without talking about gymnastics…
Between European and World events, all disciplines were
represented. The 13th WCh AER, 24th WCh ACRO, 9th EUROGYM
with the test event of the GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE, 2nd YOG,
33rd WCh RG, 4th GOLDEN AGE GYM FESTIVAL, 45th WCh ART,
10th ECh TG and the 30th WCh TRA have taken place. One after the
other with some nice performances and really good results from our
European gymnasts, not forgetting our UEG training camps and
coaches’ courses.
It was also time for the official meetings of the authorities of
gymnastics: the Congress of the FIG end of October and the UEG seminar end of
November where it was more than ever question about the future of our sport.
On its part, the UEG organised its Gymnastics for All events and the European
Championships in TeamGym, which is a specific UEG discipline.
The 9th EUROGYM, a European Youth Festival was held last July in Helsingborg/SWE.
Around 4’600 young boys and girls representing 22 nations were present for this biennial
event…
During this edition, the test event of the Gym For Youth Challenge was launched with a
participation of 25 groups of 13 countries, representing a total of 650 gymnasts.
A few weeks after this first success was organised the Golden Age Gym Festival in
France, a gymnastics meeting for the 50+ generation.
Some 1’600 seniors have come from 17 European countries. They have met during a
whole week in Toulouse to participate in workshops, present their group performances,
enjoy the excursions and discover this region. This 4th edition was a real success and
these two Gymnastics for All rendezvous are totally on the same wavelength as the
society of today; therefore they have an impressive potential of evolution.
Finally, the event calendar of the UEG has come to its end with the European
Championships of TeamGym, which were held in Reykjavik/Iceland. Remember that
TeamGym is a specific European and UEG discipline; its popularity is no longer needed to
be proved and we predict a bright future to this sport!
This second part of the year finishes intensely but passionately and I wish you all the best
for 2015. This new year will represent a turn in the history of European gymnastics with the
organisation of the 1st European Games and “their small gymnastics revolution” in Baku,
Azerbaijan. 2015 will also see the European Championships of Artistics, of Rhythmic, of
Acrobatic, and of Aerobic and will finish with the non-elective Congress of the UEG, end of
November. All these events will contribute to the preparation of the 2016 Olympic year!

UEG Training Camps and coaches’ courses 2014
As every year, the UEG has organised last summer and already
prepares for next summer, Training Camps for different disciplines;
they are necessary for the development of European gymnastics
and have become, over the years, an essential part of the UEG
event calendar.
The objective is to create for some days and in a favourable
atmosphere a real and good cooperation between experts,
coaches and gymnasts and to favour the exchange of experience
between the different experts and participants.
You can find all information concerning the 2014 training camps and coaches courses in Men’s
Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) - Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG) - Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) TeamGym (TG) - Trampoline Gymnastics (TRA) - Aerobic Gymnastics (AER) and Acrobatic

45th World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and 80th FIG Congress
Focus on European gymnastics and UEG being in the first line.
 In the very busy agenda full of trips and meetings were two key appointments for the President
of the European Union of Gymnastics; from October 3rd to 12th, 2014, the world’s best artistic
gymnasts met for the 45th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Nanning. All 137
Federations affiliated to the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) could participate in this
event, an important step on the road to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (BRA).
Halfway through this Olympic deadline, the World Championships in Nanning were to define the
new hierarchy in artistic gymnastics and of its athletes who will go for the medals in 2016. Among
the 79 federations entered for Nanning, representing some 680 gymnasts, 38 – i.e. nearly half of
them – are affiliated to the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG). It was important to its President,
the French Georges Guelzec, to join this strong representation and he was therefore present in
China, alongside the members and the athletes. Former world-class gymnast himself, he followed
the competitions with the eyes of an expert.
He seized this opportunity to meet his colleagues, the members of the FIG Executive Committee,
and in particular the FIG President, Prof. Bruno Grandi (ITA). He gave them first-hand information
on the preparations of the 1st European Games. For this occasion, gymnastics will experience a
small revolution. As a matter of fact, for the very first time at an event of this level, the finals in the
different disciplines will be presented alternating to the spectators.
Referring to the topic of reforms in gymnastics, President Guelzec has already, and on several
occasions, expressed his concept and vision for an “overhaul” and a lasting development of this
sport: "Gymnastics has an urgent need to review its competition formats to strengthen its
attractiveness. The reactions of the public, the media and TV confirm this. The time for a
fundamental, radical change has come!" This strategic consideration was the central point of the
symposium organised on November 28th and 29th, 2014 in London.
For Europe and its gymnasts, these World Championships were contrasting. No doubt, the
European Union of Gymnastics (UEG) is pleased with the 16 medals - 4 of them gold ones - won
by its gymnasts, but can regret the few hundredth of points, which lacked sometimes to allow the
teams to step on the podium, except for the magnificent bronze medal of the Russian women’s
team. It is true that in the team competition, the Chinese, Japanese and Americans were sovereign
and didn’t leave many opportunities to their opponents.
Georges Guelzec, was particularly pleased with the second ranks of the Briton Max Whitlock and
of the Romanian Larisa Iordache in the all-around competition as well as with the “European” final
on pommel horse, won by Krisztian Berki (HUN), followed by Filip Ude (CRO) and Cyril
Tommasone (FRA). Three more world titles complete this prestigious list with Denis Abliazin (RUS)
on floor, Oleg Verniaiev (UKR) on parallel bars and Epke Zonderland (NED) on horizontal bar.
In the women’s competitions, Aliya Mustafina (RUS) gets all the honours with her participation in
three finals (bronze on floor and beam, sixth rank on uneven bars).
Big disappointment however for the unfortunate Swiss Giulia Steingruber, European Champion,
who missed her vault final (5th rank).

Nanning was for the UEG and the European delegations present in China also an occasion to get
together for a welcome cocktail. President Guelzec wanted to meet and address his members to
remind them that Europe is one of the essential components of the international gymnastics
community. Prof. Bruno Grandi, FIG President, who was among the guests, highlighted the
essential role of the UEG within the International Federation and congratulated himself for its
dynamism.
Guest of honour at this cocktail, the President of Longines, Mr Walter von Känel, reminded with
pertinence the role played by the Swiss watchmaker in the development of gymnastics which
started in 1912 when they first used their timekeeping system at the Swiss Federal Gymnastics
Festival! He added: « Longines is proud of its contribution to international gymnastics, in particular
by way of the last developments of the video control system IRCOS, a genuine tool for better
justice in sports. »
 From October 26th to 30th, 2014, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) chaired by
President Prof. Bruno Grandi (ITA) organised in the Uzbek capital Tashkent its 80th Congress. This
Congress, two years before the next elections to be held in 2016, shed a first light on the current
changes within the governing body of world’s gymnastics.
In this spirit of reforms and innovations, the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG) intended to
state its projects and visions so that this sport, cornerstone of the Olympic movement, takes the
next step towards modernity. Its President, the French Georges Guelzec, represents on his own 48

of the 137 member federations of the FIG. Consequently, his speech in front of the FIG General
Assembly was expected with a lot of attention by the some 300 delegates in Tashkent.
Among the topics President Guelzec addressed, we noted the participation of European
gymnastics at the first European Games to be held from June 12th to 28th, 2015 in Baku (AZE). At
this event, the following UEG competition disciplines will be presented alternatively to the public:
artistic, rhythmic, trampoline, aerobics and acrobatics. According to his own words: “Gymnastics
must break with its habits and present a remodeled face, attractive and appealing for a demanding
public and the media, in particular television, searching for new emotions, new dramaturgies. In
Baku, we are going to revisit our competition formats and take a new step towards modernity!”
Seizing the occasion of this statutory assembly, the UEG President has announced that the
European Union of Gymnastics will organise one month later a second seminar after the one which
was entirely dedicated to Communication in March 2014. He underlined the will of the UEG and its
members to better understand the expectations of the sports market, imagining original solutions,
full in line with tomorrow’s and the day after tomorrow’s gymnastics.
From the very beginning of the discussions, the 70 affiliated federations present in Tashkent
projected themselves towards this horizon when learning that the 2 years left until the Olympic
Games in Rio de Janeiro would also be the last ones of the Grandi presidency. The FIG President
himself has given this information during the welcome message addressed to the participants,
inviting them at the same time to prepare this deadline.
In the same context and referring to the organisation of the 2016 FIG Election Congress, the
General Assembly clearly expressed itself for the Tokyo (JPN) bid, against Orlando (USA).
Another highlight of this Congress was the admission of ten new federations, bringing the total of
member federations to 142, 50 of them representing Europe. In this respect let us mention the
admission by the FIG of Bosnia Herzegovina (BIH) and of the Kosovo (KOS) which was recently
provisionally recognised by the International Olympic Committee. This development delighted the
UEG Administrative Director, Mrs Kirsi Erofejeff-Engman (FIN): She said “As foreseen in our
Statutes, the next UEG General Assembly, which will be organised in 2015 in Bratislava (SVK), will
have to decide on the admission of these new federations, which are already in possession of all
necessary administrative documents”.

UEG Seminar - London/GBR
On November 28th and 29th, 2014, the Executive of the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG) met
in London (GBR), following an invitation of its President Georges Guelzec (FRA) for an
extraordinary seminar dedicated to the development of this major Olympic sport.
Thanks to a spontaneous initiative of British Gymnastics and its Executive Director, Jane Allen, the
UEG has seized the opportunity to organise this seminar in London.
The members present in London were solicited to imagine the competition structures and formats
the UEG should equip itself with on a short and medium term in order to meet the expectations of
its gymnasts, the public and media.
President Guelzec and his colleagues from the Executive were guided by the constructive advices
and recommendations of two eminent guests: Mr Kit McConnell (NZL), Sports Director with the
International Olympic Committee in Lausanne and Mr Ingolfur Hannesson (ISL), Head of sports
rights at the Eurovision in Geneva.
We underline the presence and comments of Barbara Slater, former gymnast and Director of BBC
Sport and the presentation of Mr Jörg Mark and Mr Paul Bristow on the 2018 European Sports
Championships.
This extraordinary seminar was moderated by Paul J. Roberts (GBR), journalist, photographer,
man of action and expert of the international sports market.
At the end of the first day of this seminar, the members of its Executive and President Georges
Guelzec (FRA) had fully evaluated the challenges this major Olympic sport will have to take up in
the short and medium term in order to perpetuate its development.
Aware of taking part in a determining meeting, which will mark the annals of the UEG, they
participated in animated discussions and debates, with a dialog and confrontation between
specialists, gymnastics technicians and independent contractors.
The morning started with the welcome speech of Georges Guelzec and the introduction of Paul J.
Roberts (GBR), moderator of this seminar. He gave some ideas of reflexion, which were used as
working base for the participants for the next two days.
Then the Sports Director of the International Olympic Committee Mr. Kit McConnell (NZL) took the
floor. He recalled the envied position of gymnastics, which is in the first group of the Olympic
programme, with athletics and swimming.
“Gymnastics is partner of the Olympic Games since the beginning and thanks to its evolutions and
the changes at the level of sport and disciplines, it is today, after the London Games, part of the 3
most important activities with athletics and swimming. You must not stop here and take advantage
of this powerful position. The society changes, the sport in general also and we need to think about
the way to welcome and handle these changes in the future. We have the same process at the
IOC – it is necessary to adapt ourselves and it is important to recognise where we are and where
we are going” he said to a very attentive audience. He finished by specifying that “the sport must
be honest to be valid and gymnastics must keep its values which made it strong because this is
what attracted the people in the first place”.

For his part, Mr. Ingolfur Hannesson (ISL), Head of Sports Rights at Eurovision, has insisted on the
imperative necessity to review the competition formats to make gymnastics a television product.
“Since a couple of years European gymnastics is stable speaking of audience but there are signals
of alert and we need to find together solutions and compromises between your sport and the
expectations of the TV so that it does not decline”.
The afternoon was dedicated to group discussions.
The reflexions and conclusions of the participants and summarised by Paul J. Roberts were all
oriented in the same direction - change, innovation and future!
The seminar ended on November 29th, 2014 in London with the strong wish expressed by the
members of its Executive to bring about the choices motivated by the new expectations of the
sports market in a short and medium term. A schedule was also planned and work continues in
order to present precise elements and concrete proposals at the UEG Congress in Bratislava/SVK
in November 2015.
Paul J. Roberts (GBR) congratulated the UEG and its President Georges Guelzec (FRA) to this
initiative and the active participation of the members of the Executive Committee present in
London. “It was a real pleasure to spend these two days with the Authorities of the UEG and to be
at the service of such an organisation which is turned towards the future, to lead the discussions
and to animate the debates around the future of gymnastics with such implicated participants.
These two days were extremely interesting, important, even determining and I can affirm that we
have been efficient” he said in his conclusion.
As for the UEG President, he expressed his congratulations to the success of this seminar; he
hopes that the discussions held in London will become reality and will have a positive effect as
soon as possible. He expressed his gratitude to the hosting federation, British Gymnastics, and the
Director, Jane Allen, for their active participation and support.
“Such a meeting, in this form and under such conditions has not taken place since 2007 and I must
admit that my expectations were high regarding the results of the discussions of these two days. I
am more than satisfied of the implication of the PB and EC members and of the work that the
team/family of the UEG has provided. It is important to be aware that we are at a turn in the history
of our sport and that the future is in our hands. A certain number of ideas and of measures are to
keep in mind”; the work goes on but is already initiated…”
In this spirit of reforms, the UEG will experiment during the 1st European Games in Baku (AZE) to
be held in June 2015 a new presentation form of its competition disciplines based on an alternating
presentation. Everybody was very pleased with this initiative, which represents a first step towards
other reforms gymnastics will take inspiration of to outline its new face in the years to come.

GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE & EUROGYM - Helsingborg/SWE
GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE - test event
This test event was organised last July in Helsingborg in Sweden during the 9th edition of
EUROGYM.
Before starting on July 13th the “coolest” gymnastics event of this summer 2014, the launch of the
first edition of the Europe Gym for Youth Challenge has marked the spirits.
As explained by Maria Ståhl, member of the UEG - TC Gymnastic for All and the Swedish
Gymnastic Federation: “Music, joy, entertainment and innovation are some keywords for this first
test event, which is also another opportunity for the youth in Europe to get together, to have fun
and inspire each other to develop choreography and to improve their performances.”
What is the EUROPE GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE?
The first edition of this competition, the Europe Gym for Youth Challenge (EGFYC), is a test event,
which took place on July 12th, 2014 in the Helsingborg Arena, Sweden.
The participating teams were evaluated from some different aspects and were also given feedback
on their performance by trained choreographers. Teams could only register for the challenge, or
stay for the entire 9th EUROGYM 2014 Festival.
The Minimum age is 12 years. However, it was allowed for 10% of the participants in each team to
be 10 or 11 years old. A team had to be composed of a minimum of 6 gymnasts.
The performance time had to be no longer than 3 minutes including entrance and exit. In case of
the use of apparatus, the preparation was seen as part of the performance.
Music played an important part and was considered for the evaluation.
Each group performed once and was then evaluated.
There were two performing areas, 14 x 14 m each. One of them was equipped with roller mats. In
the interest of a quick running, both areas were used at the same time.
25 groups from 13 countries, i.e. 650 participants were registered for this Test Event.
The schedule was as follows:

The official supplier for the 9th EUROGYM 2014 was LEG.
Evaluation
Each performance was evaluated according to the following criteria:

All criteria had equal value.
The evaluation was carried out by a panel of experts having a broad experience.
Each group had the opportunity to get feedbacks on their performance.
The score was used to establish the podium of this Test Event. All teams have received a reward,
gold, silver or bronze.
The groups competed during 1h30, going from one rhythm to another and from one music to
another, with or without equipment with exercises lasting no longer than 3 minutes.
But this event was really the way for the young Europeans to take advantage of the opportunity to
meet, have fun and to compete in a good mood on some prepared choreographies for this
occasion and in this way to improve their gymnastics performances. By taking an active part in the
Gym for Youth Challenge, the participants have contributed to make this a future official event.

EUROGYM
2 years after Coimbra/POR and 2 years before Ceske Budejovice/CZE, the EUROGYM in
Helsingborg/SWE has welcomed some 4600 participants coming from 22 European countries
assisted by approx. 400 volunteers… A true participation record, which shows the enthusiasm for
this event.
The public largely expressed itself, in particular via the social networks with Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram for the photos. Via these exchange platforms, the young participants enjoyed
themselves wholeheartedly and talked about their experiences and emotions during this week
dedicated to recreational gymnastics.
The atmosphere during this event was just incredible.
One must have seen the joy and pleasure of these young boys and girls to take part in this event
and the pride they had presenting their performances and to share them with their European
friends.
The next Eurogym will be held in 2 years in the Czech Republic to celebrate the 10th anniversary of
this event, which is completely in line with this era.

Report of the Technical Committee Gymnastics for All

The 9th EUROGYM Festival 2014 in Helsingborg was held with over 4500 participants from 22
countries (GER, BEL, DEN, ESP, EST, FIN, FRA, GBR, GRE, ISL, ITA, LUX, MLT, NOR, NED,
POR, CZE, RUS, SLO, SUI, TUR, SWE).
The atmosphere of the festival was great. Participants were welcomed with a wonderful opening
ceremony in a sold out Helsingborg Arena where everybody could see a great Gymnastics for All
show.
Every Festival day started with a meeting for the Heads of Delegation where the UEG TC GfA,
together with the LOC, summed up the previous day and provided information on the current day.
In the morning, the young gymnasts could participate in 43 different workshops in 11 locations
across the town, as trampoline, show dance, aerobic gymnastics, cheerleading or new trends like
CrossFit or Parkour.
After the morning exercise it was time to show! During the entire afternoon, at 4 stages set in the
most frequented places in the city, the participants could show what they had learnt at home.
During the festival we could see about 400 performances, each one being the result of the hard
work of young people from different corners of Europe. So many emotions from the performances
of the young EUROGYM gymnasts!
In the evening, every participant could try new activities, relax or meet with friends in the
GymZone. That was an area in the heart of EUROGYM 2014, near to Helsingborg Arena, where
the gymnast could meet and try a lot of activities made for youth by youth.
As in every festival, Helsingborg also had a Gala where the best could perform. The Gala had two
presentations of 1h30 each. Eighteen groups created a show under the theme “Movement in the
sky”. It is worth noting that two of them have been chosen by the TC-GfA during the City
performance of the EUROGYM 2014. The evening show was beautiful, magic and of a very high
quality. Many of the people just said “Marvellous”!
The Closing Ceremony of EUROGYM 2014 was organised on the last day. This time the theme
was “Movie Star”. Everyone could really become a star because during the closing ceremony every
participant could show the highlights of the activities discovered and practiced during the different
workshops. At the end there were 3600 who came out and wanted to feel the atmosphere of the
Closing Ceremony performing in front of the audience.
The UEG EUROGYM Festival 2014 in Helsingborg was a great success. Thanks to the LOC and
the Swedish Gymnastics Federation for the cooperation and preparation of the event.
The TC has learned now that 5000 participants is not a limit. We have many more gymnasts who
want to come. Definitely, the event is growing and UEG TC GfA is ready for a bigger edition. This
is the reason why we look now to the future, starting to prepare the 10th edition of EUROGYM in
Ceske Budejovice. The next edition will be a round anniversary and is also a historical moment, as
the event will be held for the first time in this part of Europe. This is a first step to be closer to
Federations with great gymnastics tradition, but without a strong Gymnastics for All. That is why all
Federations will be very welcome in the Czech Republic in 2016.
Please come and feel the spirit of gymnastics, the spirit of any kind of gymnastics!

GOLDEN AGE GYM FESTIVAL - Toulouse/FRA
It is finally a young manifestation, which celebrates every two years gymnastics for seniors.
Coming from 17 European countries, some 1’600 gymnasts have participated in the 4th edition of
the Golden Age Gym Festival in Toulouse/FRA, which started on September 28th.
The National Federations represented were the following: BEL, CZE, DEN, EST, FIN, FRA, GBR,
GER, ITA, LAT, LTU, NOR, POR, RUS, SLO, SVK, SUI.
Every two years since 2008, the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG) has decided to dedicate
one gymnastics week to the generation 50+.
After Maspalomas/ESP in 2008, Portimao/POR in 2010, Montecatini/ITA in 2012, Toulouse in
France hosted this event in 2014. This festival has become along the years an event eagerly
looked forward to by the participating groups. These are preparing to live a unique experience in a
sportive and relaxed atmosphere; they train and sometimes start their repetitions as soon as the
previous edition is finished in order to be ready for this rendezvous.
More than a stay dedicated to sport and to gymnastics, it is the discovery of a town, of a region, of
a country and of its cultural, culinary and touristic traditions which the participants are looking
forward to. It is also the exchange with their European counterparts, the meetings and relationships
that are so important. Everything is done along the week so that the seniors are mostly together
during the presentations, and of course during the meals, the theme evenings, the excursions. This
year, the Village, open to everybody, was situated in the city-centre on the quays of the Garonne. It
was the real strategic point of the festival and it has been a success!
The residents and professional of Toulouse were happy to see these senior gymnasts in their town
during one week. They have taken part in the game and went to see the presentations all around
the city and supported the participants in their activities!

Report of the Technical Committee Gymnastics for All
The 4th Golden Age Festival 2014 in Toulouse/FRA was held with over 100 groups from 17
countries (BEL, CZE, DEN, EST, FIN, FRA, GER, GBR, ITA, LAT, LIT, NOR, POR, RUS, SLO,
SVK and SUI). France welcomed 1514 participants to this UEG festival for gymnasts aged 50+.
For the 5th edition in Portoroz in 2016, even more participants are expected!
The atmosphere of the festival was very pleasant. The participants were welcomed with a very nice
opening ceremony where everybody felt the spirit of south-western France, Midi-Pyrenees region.
The Festival started with a bit of rain, but this didn’t stop the participants to begin the day, at 8:00
o’clock in the morning, with a muscular awakening workshop in the main square - Place de
Capitole. It was really great to see the participants exercising gymnastics in the morning when
many local people went to work and saw how people from different countries aged 50+ practiced
gymnastics.
Until lunchtime, the participants had the opportunity to take advantage of the 26 workshops
organised in two places - Ramiers Island and Toulouse Beach. Among the diversity of workshops
everyone could find some activities they were interested in as apparatus gym, fit ball, Gym
Medeau, Step, Big Dance, Aqua Gym and even a Relaxation workshop.
After such active mornings, the participants ate lunch in many good and beautiful restaurants in the
city centre of Toulouse or tasted the meals served by the LOC in the central village of the Festival Toulouse Beach. That was a place where good music, very good French food and, of course, a
very friendly atmosphere allowed people to meet other gymnasts and have many interesting
discussions. Like this, the participants could regenerate, exchange experiences and prepare for
the afternoon City Performance.
The City Performances are very important for every group and all gymnasts. This is the time where
they can show what they have practiced for many months in their countries. Therefore, from 17:00
o’clock on a lot of people from Toulouse could see many great exercises from all over Europe. The
location of the scenes for this activity in well-connected areas of the city meant that the public
could not go past the scene without stopping. Many people returning from work stopped and
looked for a moment at the gymnasts and shows. Toulouse Beach, Daurade Squeare and Capitole
Square were perfect to show many people what gymnastics is and how pleasant it is for persons
aged 50+ to practice it.
After all presentations of the day the participants could eat and meet again at Toulouse Beach,
where very good food was served and dancing parties were organised each evening. Some of the
participants enjoyed late hours of dancing and were not discouraged to get up early the next day of
the UEG Golden Age Festival and to continue with gymnastic exercises on the Capitol Square in
the centre of Toulouse.
The UEG Golden Age Festival in Toulouse was well evaluated by the participants, who enjoyed the
friendly and warm atmosphere of southern France and returned home very happy! The UEG
Technical Committee Gymnastics for All, disposing of an additional experience and ideas, already
starts preparing the next edition, which will be held in Portoroz, Slovenia, in 2016.

European TeamGym Championships - Reykjavik/ISL
The 10th European TeamGym Championships were held in Reykjavik/ISL from October 15th to 18th.
The TeamGym competitions are one of the recent UEG events. They are held every two years.
The first official edition was organised in 1996 in Finland.
TeamGym is a competition for teams presenting three different disciplines - floor, tumbling and
mini-tramp - in three different sections: women’s, men’s and mixed teams.
These three disciplines require a good coordination and technic as well as spectacular acrobatic
elements. TeamGym is famous for its very good atmosphere and spirit. The event is attractive for
the spectators and media as well as for the sponsors because it is diverting and exciting to look at.
A team is composed of 8 to 12 gymnasts. In each discipline, all gymnasts are judged. The mixed
teams must be composed of 50% men’s gymnasts and 50% women’s gymnasts. All participating
gymnasts have to compete on floor.
Finally, regarding the age of the gymnasts, the minimum age for seniors is 16 years and minimum
13 to maximum 17 years for the juniors.
This year’s edition was a real success. The organisation was perfectly assured by the Icelandic
Gymnastics Federation and the Local Organising committee, helped by some 450 volunteers
whose efficiency was remarkable. The impact on the spectators in the hall and in front of their TV
in the country and outside was enormous.
The audience numbers are amazing, especially for the two evenings with the junior and senior
finals. The advertisers were more than satisfied with their visibility during the telecast on the
national Icelandic TV.
The event has realised on Saturday 34.7% of market share, which is a really good rate for a
Saturday afternoon (as 10% is considered a good result for this time in TV).
Regarding the sold entry tickets we know that some 4’150 people were in the competition venue on
Saturday. This means that the hall was sold out!
This massive audience had an important impact on the atmosphere of event; the spectators were
really enthusiast and reactive when watching the gymnasts’ presentations. The encouragements
were nearly non-stop and this for all the teams, regardless the nationality or fans present in the
hall!
The permanent support from the public, the modern music the gymnasts chose for their routines as
well as the “fun” part of this discipline, which is completely different from all other events, all this
makes this an explosive event, which can certainly count on a great development in the next few
years.

Report of the Technical Committee TeamGym

Presentation, introduction and figures
The 10th European Championships in TeamGym were held on October 15th - 18th, 2014 in
Reykjavík, Iceland. The Laugardalshöll multi-sport arena was an excellent venue with all facilities
for such a TeamGym event.
In total 14 federations - 2 more than at the previous European Championships - and a total of 42
teams (25 senior teams and 17 junior teams) participated.
Federations taking part in the senior category were AUT-CZE-DEN-EST-FIN-FRA-GBR-GER-ISLITA-NED-NOR-RUS-SWE.
Federations taking part in the junior category were CZE-DEN-FIN-GBR-GER-ISL-ITA-NOR-SWE.
New entries in the list of participating federations compared to 2012 were Estonia, Italy and Russia
in the senior competition, and Germany and Italy in the junior competition. There could have been
more teams participating in the junior section and an extra effort is therefore required for the next
event.
The 2014 edition was in many ways a great success.
The level of performance in all sections was outstanding with a substantial progress since the
European Championships two years ago in Aarhus.
The final list of all medallist federations is found on the UEG website. It is however worth
mentioning that Denmark, participating in all six sections, won five out of six finals. Sweden won
the gold medal in the senior women’s final. These Championships were truly amazing for
Denmark.
Technical aspects and novelties
A number of significant novelties were introduced for the Championships 2014.
The first thing was the new Code of Points including new requirements of the composition on floor
and an improved balance between the execution and difficulty scores in tumbling and trampet. The
number of competitors in each team was also reduced from 12 gymnasts + 2 reserves to 12 in
total.
The new set of rules and judging worked out very well and no appeals against awarded scores
were registered.
For the first time all gymnasts were required to have a competitor’s number on their dress.
Numbering helped the media and the audience to identify gymnasts and look up details of the
athletes. Every gymnast’s performances on tumbling and trampet were recorded.
After the four competition days, the European TeamGym All Star Team was identified. The Team
consisted of the six best female and the six best male gymnasts. The numbers of successfully
performed tumbling and trampet rounds, plus the difficulty values of those rounds, were used to
identify the gymnasts. The All Stars Team was announced at the banquet.
Also the two best tumblers (one female and one male), the two best trampet performers, and the
two best floor performers were nominated. This type of awards is something that sports lovers
around the world recognize from major team sports like soccer and basketball.

Event’s coverage
In a country like Iceland where TeamGym is considered as a ‘national sport’ there were at all times
a large number of spectators watching the competitions. The about 4.500 tickets for the finals were
sold out.
TeamGym is today one of the sports that get regular coverage on the Icelandic National Television
(RUV). RUV broadcasted the whole event live from qualifications to finals. A Pay Per View live
streaming was also available via the website making it possible to follow the competitions also for
gymnasts not being present in Reykjavik.
A seminar titled “TeamGym and Media” was organized as a side event by representatives from
RUV.
Organisation
This competition took place in exemplary conditions with a very professional local organizing
committee (LOC), who in close cooperation with the UEG and Technical Committee made the
preparation and the perfect running of this event possible. The conditions for the participants were
excellent, in particular with the competition and training halls and close-by hotels accessible within
walking distance. The LOC had also made major improvements in the field of communication by
bringing the audience closer to the athletes. This included a great overall presentation of the event.
The competition hall was equipped with large screens to continuously announce the results and
show instant replays. These screens were in the meantime also used to present pictures taken by
the TeamGym community and tagged with #TeamGym2014.
What about the next event 2016?
The organizers of the next European Championships in two years will most probably welcome an
increased number of NF. The sport is continuously developing and is no longer a discipline
reserved to the Nordics countries.
The venue for the European Championships 2016 is expected to be decided at the next EC
meeting in January 2015. Until now, three NF have shown interest to organize the event.

Eurotramp is the equipment supplier for trampolines at the Rio 2016 Olympic
Games
During the FIG congress in Tashkent it was announced officially: the trampolines for
the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will be supplied by the German trampoline
manufacturer Eurotramp. Cooperating in a consortium called „SEG“ together with
Spieth Gymnastics and Gymnova, Eurotramp will provide the highest level equipment
for the best trampoline gymnasts worldwide and also for the training area of Olympic
diving.
The athletes will compete on the high-end competition trampoline „Ultimate 4x4“, the
newest competition model from Eurotramp. It was developed, tried and tested with
the help of many of the world’s best trampoline gymnasts.
Furthermore Eurotramp will take care of the complete trampoline competition
services executed by the Eurotramp service team. These services include
installation, maintenance and deinstallation of the training and competition areas by
the Eurotramp technicians.
Eurotramp will also provide the next major competitions worldwide with its
trampolines, including e.g. the World Cup 2015 Valladolid (Spain) and St. Petersburg
(Russia), World Championships 2015 Odense (Denmark), Gymnaestrada 2015
Helsinki (Finland), European Games 2015 Baku (Azerbaijan) and European
Championships 2016 Valladolid (Spain).
