ROAST BEEF DINNER - PALMER ROAD KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS The Palmer Road Knights of Columbus invite you to a Roast Beef Dinner on Sunday, June 6th beginning at 12:00 noon. Dinner consists of roast beef with all the trimmings, dessert and tea/coffee. Cost: adults $8.00 and children $4.00. Proceeds go to the up-keep of the Hall. ANNUAL MEETING OF THE WEST PRINCE HERITAGE COMPLEX ASSOCIATION (WPHCA) The 4th annual meeting of the WPHCA will be held at the Tignish Royal Canadian Legion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15th (mainly in French but with simultaneous translation for all) featuring “A Talk from the Heart” in english by Tiffany Sark, Cultural Director at Lennox Island. The program also comprises amendments of By-laws, a first couple Honorary Membership, scrumptious refreshments and a 50/50. All are cordially welcomed! SUMMER READING PROGRAM The Tignish Home and School Association is once again offering our Summer Reading Program during the months of July and August to all students registered at Tignish Elementary. This Program is available to all students for a summer fee of $15.00. Students can work on any number of areas such as reading, math, writing, etc. The student tutor will work with your child based on his/her needs. It is a great opportunity to keep up their skills during the summer months. Each week is a one-hour one-on-one session. Please contact Nicole Morrissey at 882-2007 to sign-up. 400th YEAR MI’KMAQ COMMEMORATION The West Prince Heritage Complex Association Inc. in collaboration with the Lennox Island and Abeqweit Mi’kmaq First Nations is hosting the 400th anniversary of the June 24th, 1610 christening of Grand Chief Membertou; Highlights: Keynote speaker Chief Darlene Bernard, unveiling of a trilingual plaque, raising of Mi’kmaq flag and appropriate anthems, smudging ceremony, etc. Place: on the Chiasson Road in Tignish on Thursday, June 24th at 2:00 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend and to take their cameras and parasols. COMMÉMORATION MI’KMAQ 400 ANS L’Association du Complexe patrimonial de Prince-Ouest inc. en collaboration avec les Premières nations Mi’kmaq de l’Île Lennox et Abeqweit sera l’hôte du 400e anniversaire du baptême le 24 juin 1610 du Grand Chef Membertou. FELIX GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB The first tournament of the year will be held on Sunday, June 13th with a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. Please note change of time due to the Blessing of the Boats in the afternoon. This is a fundraiser for the Tignish Health Centre. Sign-up a team or as a single. There will be prizes, 50/50 and a BBQ. An afternoon of fun to be had while helping out a worthy cause. Twilight Rates will begin on June 5th. Memberships and golf packages are available for purchase for juniors, seniors, adults, students and couples. The GBS Program for children from 6 to 15 years will be offered again this year and will run from July 7th to August 25th. This 8-week program (1 hour each week) is to teach the basic skills, rules and etiquette of golf, while at the same time making it fun for them. You can pre-register your child at anytime by calling 882-2328. Any organization, business or family group thinking of having a tournament should also call to book your date. TIGNISH HEALTH CENTRE Walk-A-Thon: The Annual Tignish Health Centre Walk-A-Thon will be held on Thursday, July 1st. There will be lots of prizes to give away and LOBSTERS! Pledge sheets can be picked-up at the Tignish Health Centre, Tignish Elementary, St. Louis Elementary, École Pierre-Chiasson, Shirley’s Café and M.J.’s Bakery. There will also be a yard sale, Bargain Basement will be open, face painting, bake sale, etc. being held in the parking lot of the Health Centre. ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS The St. Louis Community Centre will be hosting Acoustic Jams every Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Door prize, light snack, coffee and tea. Admission $3.00. Bring your instruments and friends and have fun! Reserve June 18th, 19th and 20th for our St. Louis Bluegrass & Oldtime Music Campout held on our grounds.
