IWK FESTIVAL IN THE PARK The IWK Festival in the Park will be held at the Bicentennial Park on Sunday, May 30th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Rain location will be the Credit Union Arena. Some of the activities: Music by Bruce Jones & Michael Myers, Monique & Andy Doucette and Keelin Wedge, 50/50 draw, raffle tickets, quilt tickets, BBQ, Cavendish Farms Fry Cart, Tim Horton’s coffee, popcorn, candy apples, face painting, balloons, games and more. Also this year, we have an inflatable train named Chuggy Choo-Choo! Horse Pull start time is 1:30 p.m. behind the Bicentennial Park. TIGNISH SENIORS’ HOME Notice of a Special Meeting of the General Membership to vote on a proposed expansion of the Tignish Seniors’ Home Care Co-operative Ltd. RELAY FOR LIFE - VARIETY SHOW The Annual Relay for Life Variety Show featuring “Henry & Josephine” will be held on Sunday, May 30th at 7:00 p.m. at the Westisle Theatre. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Cost is $10.00 per adult and $5.00 for student. ASSEMBLÉE ANNUELLE DE L’ACPPO La 4e assemblée annuelle de l’Association de Complexe patrimonial de Prince-Ouest (ACPPO) surtout en français (avec traduction simultanée pour tous) à la Légion de Tignish à 19h00 le mardi 15 juin, avec une conférence en anglais “A Talk from the Heart” de Tiffany Sark, directrice culturelle à Lennox Island. ANNUAL MEETING OF THE WEST PRINCE HERITAGE COMPLEX ASSOCIATION (WPHCA) The 4th annual meeting of the WPHCA will be held at the Tignish Royal Canadian Legion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15th (mainly in French but with simultaneous translation for all) featuring “A Talk from the Heart” in english by Tiffany Sark, Cultural Director at Lennox Island. The program also comprises amendments of By-laws, a first couple Honorary Membership, scrumptious refreshments and a 50/50. All are cordially welcomed! ACCESS P.E.I. Access PEI will open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 4:00 p.m. for the summer months starting May 31st. SUMMER READING PROGRAM The Tignish Home and School Association is once again offering our Summer Reading Program during the months of July and August to all students registered at Tignish Elementary. This Program is available to all students for a summer fee of $15.00. Students can work on any number of areas such as reading, math, writing, etc. The student tutor will work with your child based on his/her needs. It is a great opportunity to keep up their skills during the summer months. Each week is a one-hour one-on-one session. Please contact Nicole Morrissey at 882-2007 to sign-up. FELIX GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB The first tournament of the year will be held on Sunday, June 13th with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the Tignish Health Centre. Show your support by signing up a team or as a single. There will be prizes, 50/50 and a BBQ. An afternoon of fun to be had while helping out a worthy cause. Our early season rates are in effect until June 4th. Memberships and golf packages are available for purchase for juniors, seniors, adults, students and couples. The GBS Program for children from 6 to 15 years will be offered again this year and will run from July 7th to August 25th. This 8-week program (1 hour each week) is to teach the basic skills, rules and etiquette of golf, while at the same time making it fun for them. JUNIOR CADDIES NEEDED - MARITIME NHLers FOR KIDS GOLF TOURNAMENT Tignish Minor Hockey Association is creating a list of names of hockey players (both male and female) ages 12 to 15 for a chance to caddy in the Maritime NHLers for Kids Charity Golf Tournament being held July 29th at Green Gables Golf Course. HockeyPEI is looking for a list of 5 to 6 players from each association that would be interested. If we have more than that number who are interested, a draw will be held to determine who gets to go. Pledge sheets can be picked-up at the Tignish Health Centre, Tignish Elementary, St. Louis Elementary, École Pierre-Chiasson, Shirley’s Café and M.J.’s Bakery. There will also be a yard sale, Bargain Basement will be open, face painting, bake sale, etc. being held in the parking lot of the Health Centre. TIGNISH IRISH MOSS FESTIVAL This year is the 30th Anniversary of the Tignish Irish Moss Festival. Plans are well underway and there are lots of new events to add to the schedule.
