Biographie
Benoît FROMANGER est le chef principal de l'Orchestre symphonique de Bucarest.
Reconnu internationalement comme chef d'orchestre du plus haut niveau, le souhait de Benoit FROMANGER
est d'apporter et de partager à chaque concert son approche personnelle de la musique, son respect pour les
musiciens et le public, son énergie, sa générosité ainsi que sa passion. Ses engagements récents l’ont amené a
diriger notamment l'Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal, les Virtuoses de Kuhmo (Finlande), le Koblenz
Philharmonic Orchestra, le Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra, le Amazonas Philharmonic Manaus, l’Orchestre de
la Radio Suisse Italienne…

Lauréat du Conservatoire de Paris, Benoît FROMANGER a commencé sa carrière musicale en tant que flûtiste
super soliste de l'Orchestre de l’Opéra National de Paris. Dix ans plus tard, il s'installe à Munich où il rejoint en
tant que super soliste le «Symphonie Orchester des Bayerishen Rundfunks” tout en étant invité par le Berliner
Philharmoniker et l’Orchestre de Chambre d’Europe.
Après avoir joué sous la baguette de chefs tels que Leonard Bernstein, Lorin Maazel, Carlos Kleiber, Bernard
Haitink, Ricardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Carlo Maria Giulini, Daniel Barenboim ..., Benoît FROMANGER décide de
mettre à profit ces expériences musicales et sociales, et d’interrompre sa brillante carrière de soliste et musicien
d’orchestre afin de se consacrer exclusivement à la direction d'orchestre qu’il étudie avec Valery Gergiev et Rolf
Reuter à la Hochschule de Berlin.
Benoit FROMANGER entretient des relations étroites avec de nombreux artistes solistes comme Juliette Hurel,
Corina Belcea, Idil Biret, François Leleu, Wenzel Fuchs, Hans-Jorg Rickenbacher, Mariko Harada, Bertrand
Chamayou, Ozier Aydin, Naoko Shimizu, Erik Schumann, Bernard Soustrot, David Guerrier, Richard Galliano,
Gérard Depardieu...
Benoît FROMANGER a une affinité particulière pour la musique de son pays natal, la France. Il a récemment
enregistré les Cantates du compositeur français Thierry Machuel ainsi que l’ouvre orchestrale de la compositrice
Mel Bonis (1858-1937) et continue la collaboration artistique avec la maison de disque "Le Chant de Linos".

Biography
Benoit FROMANGER is the Principal Chief Conductor of the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra. Recognized
internationally as a conductor of the highest level, Benoit FROMANGER’s aim to bring and share, for every
concert, his personal approach to music, his human respect for the musicians and the audience, his energy,
generosity as well as his passion.
Recent engagements have included performances in famous festivals where he notably conducts, the Koblenz
Philharmonic, the Montréal Métropolitan Orchestra, the Kuhmo Virtuosi (Finland), the Georgian Philharmonic
Orchestra, the Amazonas Philharmonic Manaus, the Radio-TV Swiss Italiana orchestra… Upcoming highlights

Prize-winner of the Paris conservatory, Benoit FROMANGER began his musical career as Principal flutist of the
Paris National Opera orchestra. Ten years later he moved to Munich where he join as Principal soloist the “Symphonie Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks” invited in the meanwhile by the Berliner Philharmoniker and the
Chamber Orchestra of Europe. After playing under the baton of conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Lorin
Maazel, Carlos Kleiber, Valéry Gergiev, Bernard Haitink, Zubin Mehta, Carlo Maria Giulini, Ricardo Muti, Daniel
Barenboim…, Benoit FROMANGER has decided to make benefit from these musicals and socials experiences ,
to quite his brillant soloist and orchestra musician’s career, to studie conducting with Valery Gergiev in St
Petersburg and prof. Rolf Reuter with whom he graduates at the Berlin Hochschule.
Benoit FROMANGER enjoys close relationships with many soloist artists and performed with Juliette Hurel,
Corina Belcea, Idil Biret, Katia et Marielle Labèque, Mariko Harada, François Leleu, Wenzel Fuchs, Hans-Jorg

Benoit FROMANGER has a particular affinity with the music of his native France, he recently recorded the

works, and continue a recording collaboration with the CD label “le Chant de Linos”.

Biografie
Benoît Fromanger ist seit September 2011 musikalische Leiter des Symphonieorchesters von Bukarest.
International als Dirigent höchsten Niveau’s anerkannt, ist es der Wunsch von Benoît Fromanger in jedem
Konzert sein persönliches Konzept der Musik, seinen Respekt für die Musiker und das Publikum zu zeigen und

Preisträger des Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, beginnt Benoît Fromanger seine musikalische
Laufbahn als erster Soloflötist beim Orchestre de l’Opéra National de Paris und geht zehn Jahre später nach
München, wo er die gleiche Position beim Symphonieorchesters des Bayerischen Rundfunks bekleidet.
Nachdem er unter der Leitung von Dirigenten wie Leonard Bernstein, Lorin Maazel, Carlos Kleiber, Bernard
Haitink, Zubin Mehta, Carlo Maria Giulini, Daniel Barenboim...gespielt hat, beschliesst Benoît Fromanger, seine
musikalischen und sozialen Erfahrungen zu nutzen und seine brillante Karriere als Solist und Orchestermusiker
zu unterbrechen, um sich ausschließliche der Direktion zu widmen, die er mit Valery Gergiev in St. Petersburg
und Rolf Reuter an der Hochschule für Musik in Berlin studiert.

La précision de l’Orchestre Symphonique de Bucarest - Lundi 25 novembre 2013
« Grâce à l’association culturelle “Il Theatro Circulo”, la clôture de la saison 2013 a été confiée à l'Orchestre symphonique de Bucarest et
son chef principal le français Benoit Fromanger. Un musicien qui transmet gentillesse, chaleur et la convivialité à son orchestre et celui-ci
lui obéit aveuglément. Fromanger obtient un son dense et un phrasé clair dans différents groupes d'instruments, c'est peut-être l'un des
points forts de cette formation. Le programme a pris fin avec la célèbre Symphonie n° 9 « Du Nouveau Monde » en mi mineur, Op.95,
d’Antonin Dvorak, une œuvre pourtant souvent donnée mais dont l'Orchestre s’est sorti victorieux de toutes comparaisons.
La baguette du maestro Benoit Fromager, précis et passionné, a obtenu le meilleur de sa formation en un son homogène à la fois par la
texture, les couleurs et les nuances.
Dès le début, le son des violons dans l’« Adagio » était très expressif. Fromanger a peint le deuxième mouvement d’une teinte emprunte
de mélancolie viscérale, comme la nostalgie d'une patrie lointaine, en redessinant les mélodies précieuses et lentes de Dvorak. Le célèbre
solo de cor anglais était parfait et très évocateur.
Le troisième mouvement, « Scherzo » a éclaté avec la joie de la danse, captivante, énergique, les timbales marquant le tempo à danser.
La structure monumentale du mouvement final a été superbement exposée par Fromanger de mains de maître avec musicalité, volume
approprié, esprit précis.
La lecture de la Symphonie du Nouveau Monde a toujours ses risques, dont l'un est peut être de tendre vers une routine où les
interprétations abondent, ici le Bucarest Symphony a révélé toute sa richesse sonore et sa gamme émotionnelle et ce fut une caresse pour
les oreilles vierges.
Bref un grand chef français Fromanger et encore plus avec la symphonie du Nouveau Monde du maitre tchèque Antonin Dvorak! »

“Thanks to the cultural association "Il Theatro Circulo“, the closing of the 2013 season has been entrusted to the Bucharest Symphony
Orchestra and his Principal Conductor Benoit Fromanger.
A musician who transmits kindness, warmth and friendliness to his orchestra and which obedient to him blindly.
Fromanger gets a full sound and clear phrasing in all the different groups of instruments, it may be one of the strengths points of this
ensemble. The program ended with the famous Symphony n°9 "From the New World" in E minor, Op.95, by Antonin Dvorak, a work which
is often given but the Orchestra has emerged victorious from all comparisons.
The baton of maestro Benoit Fromanger, precise and passionate, got the better of his orchestra in a consistent sound, warm texture, colors
and dynamics.
From the beginning, the sound of violins in the adagio was very expressive. Fromanger painted the second movement a shade borrows
visceral melancholy, as nostalgia for a distant homeland, redesigning precious and slow melodies of Dvorak. The famous English-horn solo
was perfect and very evocative.
The third movement, "Scherzo" burst with joy dance, exciting, energetic, the significant timpani giving the dance tempo.
The monumental structure of the final movement was superbly exposed by Fromanger masterfully with musicality, appropriate volume,
precise mind.
Reading the New World Symphony still has its risks, which may be a move towards a routine where interpretations abound, here Benoit
Fromanger and the Bucharest Symphony revealed its full rich tone and emotional range and it was a caress for the ears.
In short, a great French conductor Fromanger and “more” with the Symphony of the New World Czech master Antonin Dvorak !”
