Le shopping Unité 6 Leçon 17 Nom Work in a group of four. Imagine that you are the editors and art designers of a popular catalog. You must create a two-page feature article on the top 10 bargains of the season. Your layout should show the top 10 items and inform customers about the items and where they can be found. Materials: a poster board, colored pens, rulers, scissors, glue, magazines and newspapers, access to a bilingual dictionary and the Internet Copyright © McDougal Littell. All rights reserved. Preparation: • Assign roles to group members: researcher, writer, layout designer, and editor. All decisions should be made by the group. Each member should have two other members check his/her work. • The researcher gathers information about the top 10 bargains from the Internet, fashion magazines, and the style section of newspapers. Then the researcher compiles information. The group votes on what to keep and what to discard. • The writer writes the article. The group votes on changes and then the writer revises the document. • The designer sketches a layout and the group gives input. • The editor examines all aspects of the magazine spread and proposes changes. The group votes and decides to make the changes or not. • Lay out your work on the poster board, then attach all text and illustrations. • Decide which members will present what topics. Each of you should discuss some aspect of the article to ensure equal participation by all group members. • Present your magazine spread to the class. Bleu Classe Date B L E U Unité 6 Leçon 17 Nom Learning Scenarios Working in pairs, role-play a scenario in which you and a friend are packing for a trip to Guadeloupe. Find out what the weather will be like during your stay. Once you know what the weather will be like, write down each article of clothing that you plan to take with you on a slip of paper. Use the lists in the leçon to select your clothes. Then your partner should ask Est-ce que tu mets dans ta valise? You should respond negatively or affirmatively in complete sentences. Present your scenario to the class. The teacher can bring in a suitcase for you to use as a prop. Scénario 2 Au magasin Work with a partner and role-play a scenario that takes place in a department store in France. You are shopping for clothes to take on a ski trip to Grenoble (find out where it is on the map). Your partner will play the role of the sales clerk and assist you. Discuss the sizes of clothing, their appeal to you, etc. Present your scenario to the class. From magazines and clothing catalogs, cut out a variety of pictures of clothing. Share your pictures and place them on the desk in front of the group. As the teacher calls for a specific article of clothing, des bottes noires, une chemise bleue, the first team to show the article wins the point. Activité 3 La mode Fashions change so quickly, it may be difficult to keep up. Use the Internet and search the sites of various French stores, department stores, and catalogs. At their sites, find words for articles of clothing that are not listed in the leçon. Find words, for example, for turtleneck sweaters, sleeveless tops, tank tops, Capri pants, boxer shorts, mittens, etc. Activité 4 Moi, je porte . . . Work with a partner and describe what you are wearing. Take turns, each person naming one item of clothing until one of you is unable to continue. Activité 5 Ah! C’est plus que ça. Copyright © McDougal Littell. All rights reserved. Work in groups of three or four. You will need ten index cards per group. On the index cards, write the names of various articles of clothing and determine their prices in euros. Then join up with another team. The caller on your team will pick a card and read the name of the clothing. A player on the other team will try to guess the price of the article. The caller can only respond C’est plus que ça (make sure you pronounce the –s at the end of plus) if the article costs more or C’est moins que ça if it costs less. The player has a total of thirty seconds to guess the correct price and win the point. The game continues until all cards have been played. The team with the most points wins. p. 134 Unité 6, Leçon 17 Block Scheduling Copymasters Discovering French, Nouveau! Bleu Classe Date B L E U Activité 6 Tapez sur la carte! Block Scheduling Copymasters Work in groups of three or four. On a set of index cards, draw or paste clippings of items of clothing. Then, spread out the cards on a table in front of you. Listen carefully to the teacher’s question, then slap the card that correctly answers that question. If you are the first to slap the card in your group, you win that card. At the end of the game, the student with the most cards wins. Activité 7 Unité 6 Leçon 17 Nom J’ai perdu ma valise! Copyright © McDougal Littell. All rights reserved. Work with a partner. Both of your suitcases have been lost. The airline authorities have asked you to list the contents of your suitcase in order to more easily identify it. Draw the items in your suitcase and ask your partner to tell you the name of each item in French, then switch roles. p. 135 Discovering French, Nouveau!
