ueda un año para el Zafarrancho Mundial y la próxima
Asamblea de Capitanes Nacionales. En esa oportunidad se
analizará lo acontecido a la Hermandad de la Costa durante estos últimos
4 años, se propondrán nuevas tareas
y navegaciones, se designará las
coordenadas para el encuentro de la
Asamblea siguiente en el año 2014 y
a un nuevo Secoin.
Los Capitanes podrán auscultar a sus
filibusteros de temas que debieran
incluirse en la mesa de trabajo de la
Asamblea, que sean los más importantes y no demasiados, para permitir
una reunión en un tiempo prudente.
Por otra parte, no hay duda que esta
reunión física de hermanos, cara a
cara, sonrisa a sonrisa, abrazo a abrazo, le hace muy bien a nuestra institución, todos los países participantes
del Directorio deben concurrir, es
una meta que debemos obtener.

nouveau Secoin.
Que les Capitaines consultent donc
leurs équipages afin d'identifier les
thèmes à discuter autour de la Table.
Ces propositions, si possible peu
nombreuses, devraient se limiter aux
sujets vraiment importants afin que
l'Assemblée puisse les traiter en un
temps raisonnable.
Et puis, il ne fait aucun doute que
cette réunion physique de Frères,
face à face, sourire à sourire, abrazo
à abrazo, fait un bien énorme à notre
institution: tous les pays du Directory devraient du reste y participer.
Voilà un but que nous devons atteindre.

aseguramos de un número de calzos
y una mejor organización para la
Hermandad sede de Australia.

nly one year left before the
next World Zaf and the next
assembly of the National
Captains. It will be an opportunity to
examine what went on in our Brotherhood during the past 4 years, to
propose new tasks and new navigation,to select coordinates for a new
assembly in 2014 and to designate a
new Secoin.
Captains should therefore consult
their crew in order to identify the
themes to be discussed around the
table. These propositions, possibly
numerous, should be limited to subjects really important so that the
assembly can deal with them in a
reasonable time.
There is no doubt that this physical
reunion of Brothers face to face,
smile to smile, abrazo à abrazo, does
enormous good to our institution. All
the countries listed in the directory
should participate. Here is a goal we
should try to achieve.
Therefore, starting now all National
Captains should inform the organizers of the probable numbers of
Brothers who will be part of their
delegation. The Australian Brotherhood will then be able to optimize
and ensure the necessary number of
bunks.

LATEST NEWS
The World Zaf interactive website will be in operation from
early April. This will expand on
the plan tabled in TP 51.We understand there is much interest in
the event and we have been negotiating a reduction in the room
rates to make the event more
affordable. The rates will be on
the website. We will be using the
same hotels and rooms and using
the best pirate techniques to secure a better deal.
The New Zealand Brothers are
working on a five day tour of the
north island of New Zealand
prior to the World Zaf. This tour
will include the yacht haven of
The Bay of Islands and a Zaf at
Whangarei.
Following the event in Sydney
there will be the option of a short
tour to Surfers Paradise and the
Great Barrier Reef at Cairns.
This a fantastic resort town
famed for big game fishing,
tropical reefs and scuba diving
and snorkling to see the beautiful
coral and tropical fish.
When organising your visit note
that Cairns is an international
airport with flights to Europe via
Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
Also across the Pacific via New
Zealand.

Nous croyons savoir qu'il y a un
très grand intérêt pour cet événement. Nous sommes donc en
négociation en vue d'obtenir une
réduction des prix d'hôtels, afin
de rendre le Zaf encore plus attractif. Les nouveaux prix seront
publiés sur notre site. Nous vous
offrirons les mêmes hôtels et les
mêmes chambres, mais en mettant en œuvre tout notre savoirfaire de flibustiers nous obtiendrons les meilleurs prix!
Les Frères de Nouvelle Zélande
préparent en ce moment un tour
de 5 jours de l'île du nord, qui
aura lieu avant le Zaf de Sydney.
Le tour inclura le mouillage de
Bay of Islands et un Zaf à Whangarei.
Après le Zaf de Sydney, nous
vous offrirons en option à bref
tour à Surfers Paradise et à la
grande Barrière, à Cairns. C'est
une magnifique station, fameuse

ANGOLA
I am addressing you this message
to let you know about an
interesting nautical activity that
will happen between 20 and
31.March, along the Angolan
coast. Almost all the members of
the Luanda table will participate.
On 20.March.2009 six sailing
monohulls plus three catamaran
will leave Luanda pointing South
to Lobito, 220 nautical miles
away, to participate in one more
edition of the traditional LuandaLobito regatta. Arrival to Lobito
is foreseen to take place on
Monday morning.
During the following week, an
exploration of the coast will take
place South of Lobito, and it is
expected to go down up to Santa
Maria Bay, 100 miles South of
Lobito, and spend 2 days there.
This will be for sure a nice trip
and a good opportunity for the
Members of the Luanda Table to
spend a nice time together, and
the best time for the annual
Zafarrancho.
On Sunday, 29.March, the regatta
from Lobito to Luanda will start,
for another 220 miles, this time
pointing North.
During this same week a big
fishing competition will take
place, with more teams 60 teams
competing, which means a lot of
activity related to the sea will
happen in Lobito.
AUSTRALIA
Over the summer months we
have had three exciting zafs, in
particular the December Zaf
where the Brothers and cautivas
arrived by boat to attended a full
afternoon on one of Sydney's
islands.
We devoured Australian meats
(beef, sheep, kangaroo and
crocodile ) and Australian salmon
barbecued with salt spray for
added flavor while we broached a
cask on the long table.
February was a planning Zaf for
the years events This
includes cooking for a charity at
an open air "movies under the
stars" in one of our harbour side
parks.
In June two of our Brothers and
captives will be crossing the
Tasman Ocean to join our New
Zealand Brothers at a mid-winter
Zaf on the north island.
In November Barba Blanca (Rod
Gault) and Cathy will be visiting
Houston in USA prior to the 50th
anniversary celebration. They are
also looking forward to visiting
Chesapeake Bay.

tables de Belgique, le Frère

la boutique, le Frère
"l’Etalonneur" s’occupant de
l’annuaire et votre serviteur.
Après avoir parcouru le rapport
de la réunion précédente, le GF
de Bruxelles nous confirme que
l’organisation du GBN est
bouclée et nous décrit les
festivités. Lorsque vous lirez cet
article ceux qui seront venus
pourront raconter combien il était
nécessaire de ne pas le manquer !
Le GF de la table de Zeebrugge
nous donne les informations du
BBN (branle-bas naviguant) du
w-e du 30 mai au 1er juin 09.
RDV au port de Zeebrugge.
Les autres points à l’ordre du jour
tel que le Zaf 2010, l’annuaire, la
situation financière, la boutique
ainsi que le web site sont traités.

Durante las vacaciones de verano
tuvimos la visita del hermano de

Düsseldorf Reinhard Beck,
acompañado de un amigo Peter
Tess que se ha ganado el título de
bichicuma por haber asistido a
muc h o s z a fa r r an c h os. E l
hermano y su amigo recorrieron
varias naos del Sur de Chile,
donde se ganaron el cariño de
todos los hermanos que los
conocieron. En la Nao Santiago,
la fundadora de la hermandad,
los acogió con un zafarrancho en
su guarida en su último día en
este país.

Por esa razón indica el deseo de
sus socios de formar parte de esta
Hermandad y trabajar con el
propósito de evidenciar los lazos
sinceros y cordiales que nos unen
en n ue st ro s se nt i mi ent os
comunes de amor por la mar. Se
le indicaron las Ordenanzas y
Protocolos que deben cumplir los
aspirantes a hermanos y
formación de naos y que
tendríamos gran placer por unir
nuestros esfuerzos con marinos
de tanta experiencia y lugar de
mucha historia náutica. Una nao
padrina debería tomar el cargo
para que los guíe en esta primera
etapa.

Thierry Magon de la Ville
Huchet, qui vient de se suicider
à New-York, avait été Frère de la
Côte en Isle de France avant
de créer, à New-York, un cabinet
d'expert en investissements,
"Access International Advisors".
D e s c e n d a n t d 'u n e l i g n é e
d'armateurs malouins et de
nobles bretons, Thierry était un
régatier passionné sur Star. Une
fois par mois, il se rendait à
Miami pour participer aux
compétitions face à l'élite
mondiale de la spécialité. Il
possédait un superbe château à
Plouer-sur-Rance au centre d'un
vaste domaine: jardins à la
française, pièce d'eau, carrière
pour les chevaux, cultures. Il
avait groupé dans une galerie
photos dédicacées des plus
célèbres régatiers et barreurs de
coupe de l'America, trophées.. Il
venait chaque été à Plouer et
remportait, en Star, les régates de
Saint-Malo et Dinard. Comme je
m'inquiétais auprès de lui des
répercussions sur son cabinet de
la crise des subprimes, il m'avait
affirmé que les investissements
de ses clients étaient bien
placés.
Je l'avais incité à rallier la flotte
des Frères de New-York et lui en
avais donné les coordonnées.
Ce régatier a tiré finalement le
mauvais bord et l'a payé de sa
vie. Quelle tristesse !

n°120 au rôle national nous a
quittés hier soir 13 janvier 2009
pour aller naviguer sur des mers
toujours sereines.
Membre fondateur de notre
Table, il était resté 10 ans notre
Grand Frère. Nous garderons de
lui le souvenir d’un homme
droit, dynamique et courageux
qui nous aimait tous et qui a
participé à nos rencontres
jusqu’au dernier moment.

Il nous a quittés le 5 février 2009,
pour sa dernière et ultime
croisière, pour des eaux paisibles
et éternelles!
Nous lui rendons hommage, par
ces lignes, au nom de tous les
Frères suisses, lui qui fut membre
fondateur de la Table de Genève
(dite alors helvétique), en 1976.
Ses qualités professionnelles,
remarquables, ont permis à de
nombreux patients de retrouver
une seconde vie, avec l'usage de
leurs reins rendus à nouveau
efficaces. Hors ses qualités de
grand chirurgien, il possédait de
plus de hautes qualités humaines,
à côté de son passe-temps favori:
la voile. Le fait de porter
attention à la nature, le rendait
encore plus proche de l'être
humain., et à l'écoute de celui-ci.
Sa fidélité aux activités des
"Frères" l'a promu quelques
années Grand Frère de la Table,
et il a également participé au Zaf
du Cinquantième anniversaire de
la Confrérie au Chili, ce qui lui
permit de passer sans danger le
Cap Horn à bord d'une unité de la
marine chilienne.
Malheureusement atteint dans sa
santé, et ceci tout jeune déjà, ce

fut bien pire les dix dernières
années de sa vie, heureusement
soutenu fidèlement par Elisabeth,
et non moins par ses merveilleux
fils.
Pendant cette période difficile, il
a malgré tout manifesté sa
fidélité aux Frères par sa
présence à leurs réunions.
Le dernier hommage qui lui fut
rendu à St. Paul, et ensuite à la
Société nautique, était à la
hauteur de l'homme exceptionnel
qui est parti: remarquable.

éternelle navigation au lendemain
du grand boucan belge 2009.
Après avoir construit son
catamaran chez lui, il commença
son tour du monde. Mais
amoureux de la Virginie, il se
consacrera à l’œnologie et créera
des vignes et de bons vins. Ce
frère intègre et si passionné par
tout ce qu’il faisait a contribué à
la pérennité de notre confrérie.
Avant le GPS il avait conçu une
méthode facile pour faire le
point.

With much regret, I have to tell
you that our brother crossed the
bar in January after a short
illness, at the age of 61. There
was a thanksgiving service at
White Regis Church, and his
ashes will be interred at sea at a
later date.
Ron worked for the Ministry of
Defence as a photographer for
many years and also ran a unique
business, based from his home in
We ymouth,
which
choreographed dance steps and
s e n t t h e m t o nu me r ou s
subscribers.
Ron, together with his captive
Nicola, was heavily involved in
the Weymouth and Portland
National Sailing Academy, soon
to host the next Olympics,
putting Timbo, his Aquastar 46,
at the Academy’s disposal for
visiting VIPS. He will be missed
by all.

de la version anglaise du Grand
Dictionnaire de la Côte et a
confectionné le premier site
internet de notre Secrétariat
international. Notre sympathie
émue va à sa captive Liliane
Recht, l'une des fondatrices des
Louves de mer, dont on reparlera
sûrement un jour!
Last Journey of Brother Horst
Schlichting Table LuebeckTravemuende
One of the early Brothers of the
German Brueder-der-Kueste,
Horst Schlichting, passed away
at the age of 80.
With Horst Schlichting, the
Brotherhood lost an engaged and
highly motivated Brother and
friend. As journalist and
publisher he founded the
Yachting magazines “
SEGELN” and later the
“SEGLER ZEITUNG “ He was
highly accepted and respected in
the german sailing world as well
as international. It was him, who
developed the idea for the later
world biggest boat show, “boot
duesseldorf” to which he was
closely related until death. He
could take part and take more
honours at the 40th anniversary of
“ boot duesseldorf”, this year.
For his never ending engagement
for the Sailing- and Watersport,
the german government honoured
him with the high decoration of
"Bundesverdienstkreuz am
Bande".
It was at the “boot duesseldorf”
in 1977, where first the idea
came up for a germa n
Brotherhood. Horst very soon
became active part of the Table
Duesseldorf and later, in 1997,
took initiative to found a table at
his beloved home town,
Luebeck-Travemuende. With
sensitive feeling and talent, he,
from a big surrounding, choose
13 friends and sailing camerades,
which he invited on 13th of Feb.
for a founding meeting. On 20th
of July,1997, Table LuebeckTravemuende, was officially
inaugurated with a big FoundingZAF. Horst as the active
Secretary, developed and
influenced the Table from the
beginning. Due also to his
efforts, Table LuebeckTravemuende, today is well
known and respected world wide.
Beginning of 2008, for health
reasons, he passed the obligation
as Secretary into new hands.

El Tortuga Post es el boletín informativo oficial de los
Hermanos de la Costa. Es enviado libremente por Email a todos los Hermanos que se están inscritos en
BOC-Lista. Las Hermandades nacionales están autorizadas para utilizarlo de acuerdo a sus necesidades:
copias, traducciones parciales, etc, con la condición sin
embargo que siempre se indique la fuente. Por su parte,
los Vigías internacionales comunicarán con uno u otro
de los redactores o a SECOIN las noticias de su fraternidad. Estos comunicados serán escritos en una de los
cuatro idiomas oficiales de la fraternidad, y no traducidos normalmente.
The Tortuga Post is the official news bulletin of the
Brotherhood of the Coast. It is sent free by e-mail to all
the Brothers who are on the BOC-List. The national
Brotherhoods are authorized to use it to fit their needs:
copies, partial translations, etc., with the condition that
the source always be indicated. For their part, the
International Lookouts will communicate the news of
their Brotherhood to one of editors or to SECOIN.
These official news will be written in one of the four
official languages of the Brotherhood and will normally
not be translated.
The Tortuga Post est le bulletin d'information officiel
des Frères de la Côte. Il est adressé gratuitement par email à tous les Frères qui figurent sur la BOC-List. Les
confréries nationales sont autorisées à l'utiliser au
mieux de leurs besoins: copies, traductions partielles,
etc., à la condition toutefois que la source soit toujours
indiquées.
Pour leur part, les Vigies internationales
communiqueront à l'un ou l'autre des rédacteurs ou à
SECOIN les nouvelles de leur confrérie. Ces communiqués seront rédigés dans l'une des quatre langues
officielles de la Confrérie, et ne seront normalement pas
traduits.
