FACT SHEET – Gloucester City Centre – A Single Free Standing Building, Ottawa, Ontario LEED Canada Core and Shell (CS) 2009 Certification This single free standing building, which forms part of Gloucester City Centre, a shopping centre development, is occupied by the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) and located at the intersection of Blair Road and Ogilvie Road in Ottawa, Ontario. It is owned and was developed by First Capital Realty Inc. (FCR) and obtained LEED Canada Core and Shell (CS) 2009 Certification in 2015. In keeping with FCR’s ongoing commitment to sustainable design and construction, this single free standing building located at Gloucester City Centre, was constructed to LEED Canada CS 2009. The LEED Canada CS 2009 Certification comprises the base building design and construction of one building with 1,083 m² or 11,657 ft² in total. FCR did not construct or fit out the interior finishes or leaseholds of the tenant premises; and as a result, they were not included in this LEED Canada CS 2009 Certification. However, a mandatory agreement specifies that the tenant design and complete the interior of their leased premises in accordance with LEED requirements. Has access to public transit. Reduced heat island effect through the installation of highly reflective roof coating. WATER EFFICIENCY o Reduced water consumption by 36% by installing low flow plumbing fixtures. MATERIALS & RESOURCES o o o INDOOR ENVRIONMENTAL QUALITY o o ENERGY & ATMOSPHERE o o o Optimized energy performance. 28% estimated projected savings in annual energy costs. Developed and implemented a measurement and verification plan of the base building thereby providing ongoing accountability of building energy consumption over time. Secured a two-year contract to supply 70% of the building’s power needs from renewable sources. Project # 15011 Page | 2 Diverted 78% of construction waste from landfill. 13% of the total content of building materials, by value, was manufactured using recycled materials. 100% of wood-based building materials was harvested from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests. o Prevented indoor air quality problems through the use of a Construction Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Management Plan. Used adhesives, sealants, paints, and coatings having low volatile organic compound (VOC) content to minimize off gassing.
