TIGNISH AND PALMER ROAD COMMUNITY BULLETIN
If you wish to place an announcement in the Community Bulletin, you can leave your notice at our office
located at 119 DeBlois Road, Tignish, send it in by fax, phone, or e-mail. Announcements must be
received no later than Thursday at noon. There will be a $20 charge per article if the group or individuals
has not in some way donated or contributed to sponsor the Community Bulletin. If you would like a copy of
our policies, please contact the office at 882-0475, ext. 147.

ROYAL STAR FOODS – TIGNISH FISHERIES
Come visit the Fish Mart at Royal Star Foods, located at 175 Judes Point, Tignish. We have fresh north
side hard shell lobster (all July), fish, mussels, sand free clams, oysters, quahogs, etc. Along with fresh
frozen lobster meat, scallops, shrimp, canned hot pack lobster, lobster paste, lots of Island made products
and gifts. Store hours for the months of July and August are Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
and Monday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We have FREE delivery throughout P.E.I. on Tuesdays

There will be a concert fundraiser to raise money between the IWK and the St. Louis Community Centre
on Sunday, July 22nd, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the St. Louis Community Centre, located at
3563 Union Road. Admission is $5. Featuring Keelin Wedge, Fred Arsenault, Steven Perry, Andy
Doucette and Monique Pendergast-Doucette, and Tracy Gallant.

There will be a benefit in aid of Ivan DesRoches on Sunday, July 29th, at the Tignish Legion beginning at

♥ We are advising ALL of Dr. Sethi’s patients to contact the Patient Registry Program at 1-855-563-2101
(Please note the telephone number has changed).
♥ Dr. Naqvi is attending to his regular patients, Dr. Sethi’s patients, his on call services at Western
Hospital, and all the reports from both Doctors. This is a very time consuming for Dr. Naqvi. Dr. Naqvi
is seeing all of Dr. Sethi’s patients but will not be signing them on as his patient at this time but plans to
slowly work on this issue. It is vital for everyone to call the Patient Register Program, and advise
them that they do not have a Family Doctor. This may HELP us in recruiting another Doctor for
our Centre.
TUESDAY TALK (IN ENGLISH) ON THE RECENTLY FOUND LIST OF ISLAND ACADIANS IN 1763
The Tuesday Talk titled ‟The 1763 List of Acadians in P.E.I.” will be held (in English) at the Acadian
Museum, in Miscouche, on Tuesday, July 24th, at 7:30 p.m. Historian Georges Arsenault will discuss the
recently found list of Acadians living on the Island in 1763. A most interesting document, it reveals where,
five years after the Deportation of 1758, could be found a number of ancestors of the Acadians living today
on P.E.I. Admission is free; donations appreciated.
CAUSERIE DU MARDI SUR LA LISTE RÉCEMMENT TROUVÉE DES ACADIENS DE L’ÎLE EN 1763
La Causerie du mardi « The 1763 List of Acadians in P.E.I. » aura lieu (en anglais) au Musée acadien, à
Miscouche, le mardi 24 juillet, à 19h30. L’historien Georges Arsenault parlera de la liste des Acadiens qui
se trouvaient dans l’Île en 1763, document qui a été trouvé en France récemment. Ce document nous
dévoile où se trouvaient, cinq ans après la Déportation de 1758, plusieurs des ancêtres des Acadiens qui
vivent aujourd’hui à l’Île. Entrée gratuite.
ORGAN RECITALS
This week’s featured artist will be Michael Unger of Rochester, New York. His program will include works
by Mendelssohn, Pachelbel, Schumann, and Litaize. He will be performing at the St. Simon & St. Jude
Church on Wednesday, July 25th, from 7:30 p.m. until 8:20 p.m. No admission will be charged, but
donations will be gratefully accepted to help defray cost.

Our Construction Loan at the Credit Union is down to $116,038 and we have used $82,502 of the matching
$100,000. Our next projects are a golf tournament at Mill River and a cold lobster plate. Hemphill GM

MISSION DAY FOR FATHER ROY SHEA!
Join us for a special fundraiser event to raise money for Fr. Roy Shea’s missionary work in Brazil on
Sunday, July 29th, at the Palmer Road Community Center. There will be a 50/50 bingo from 2:00 p.m. to
4:00 p.m., followed by a BBQ from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and live entertainment beginning at 5:30 p.m.

ST. ANTHONY’S PARISH CHURCH PICNIC
The St. Anthony’s Parish Church Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 5th, at the St. Anthony’ s Parish,
located on 37947 Route 2, Bloomfield. Outdoor mass starts at 12 noon. A delicious “homemade” hot
roast beef dinner will be served immediately following the mass. Cost is $12 adults and $8 children. Join
us for a day of fun for the whole family including games, hay rides, music, yard sale, lottery draws, 50/50,
bingo at 1:30 p.m., and a food auction at approximately 7:00 p.m. In case of rain, meals will still be served
on Sunday. Rain date for remainder of event is Monday, August 6th, starting at 5:00 p.m.
