Our Mission Statement
The Parish of the Holy Name of Jesus is a vibrant urban ministry in the Roman Catholic Church
within the Franciscan tradition. In our rich diversity of cultures and languages, we seek to be open to
God’s spirit so that we might grow in the faith that makes us one and give witness to the presence of
Christ in our daily lives. As instruments of God’s peace, we reach out to and welcome all people with
a special concern for the poor, the alienated, and the immigrant. We do this through worship, education, and outreach in fulfilling our dream that all might be served in the spirit of St. Francis.

MINISTRIES AT HOLY NAME
Stewardship at Holy Name
The Church’s rich Spirituality of Stewardship is the primary focus of our Parish Stewardship Committee. They
meet periodically to discern how to bring the message of
Stewardship to the men, women and children of Holy
Name. The Committee’s mission is to promote a conscious way of living that thanks God for all blessings received by returning a portion of them for the building of
the Kingdom of God. The spirituality that supports this
way of life is deeply studied, reflected upon and eventually implemented, both givers’ and receivers’ lives are
changed and spiritually rewarded.
Through its presentations, projects and programs the
Stewardship committee hopes to deepen parishioners’
relations with Jesus Christ as it challenges itself and all
members of the parish to more deeply invest in Holy
Name through the intentional, planned and proportionate
giving of a portion of their time, talent and treasure for
the strengthening of the community of faith.
Liturgical Ministry: Each of our Masses has a team that
is responsible for ministering at the liturgy. Included on
the team are Lectors, Ministers of Hospitality, Eucharistic
Ministers, Ushers, Altar Servers. These ministries are
open to all and provide an opportunity of sharing some of
your time and talent with the community. Training is provided. If you would like more information, please contact
the Parish Office.
Peace, Justice and Integrity of Creation: This committee provides educational programs and service opportunities for the members of the parish. The committee
works closely with our neighboring churches and the
Franciscan Province of the Holy Name in exploring the
wide range of issues of peace, social justice and the environment. To become involved in this important ministry or to receive more information, please contact
Janet Curley at 646-591-4022.
Collection Holy Thursday and Good Friday: Each year
on Good Friday our Holy Father asks all of the parishes
throughout the world to take up a special collection to
assist the Holy Land Mission. Weekend collection
amounts for April 13 and 20 will be in the Bulletin, Sunday, May 4th . The second collection for April 20 will be
your Easter gift to the parish. The second collection for
April 27 will be for The Franciscan Formation Appeal.
Thank you for your anticipated generosity..
