CHEMDUR RAMP TYPE II is applied on reinforced concrete decks to protect against the infiltration of water and chlorides. The system CHEMDUR RAMP TYPE II hardens by the in place polymerization of its components. The base coat film, CHEMDUR FLEX, will bridge cracks up to 1.5mm wide as specified in ASTM C-957. CHEMDUR RAMP TYPE II consists of three-components and normally it is not necessary to preprime dense the concrete. (If in doubt, consult Chemdur technical adviser). 1/ ELASTOMERIC MEMBRANE – CHEMDUR FLEX This product is based on a polyurethane/epoxy copolymer combining the outstanding and complementary properties of its constituent polymers: elasticity of the polyurethane combined with tenacious adhesion and toughness of the epoxy. 2/ FINISH COURSE – CHEMDUR C 17 This 100% solids coating is based on a flexibilized epoxy to ensure its compatibility with elastomeric membrane CHEMDUR FLEX. It also acts as a powerful binder for the incorporated aggregates. COLORS CHEMDUR RAMP TYPE II is available in standard grey. Black is available on request. AGGREGATES Provide additional wear resistance and non-skid properties to the wear course. They must be of angular shape and of minimum hardness 6.5 on the Mohs scale. Their size depends on the requirements of a specific area (parking stalls, driving lanes, ramps, turns: see Table III). ADVANTAGES Free from any volatile, flammable solvents. Tenacious adhesion properties. Waterproof and durable. Crack-bridging capability. Low thickness and light weight. Excellent abrasion and wear resistance. Increased traction on non-skid wear course. Positive and durable slab protection against corrosive intrusions of water and deicing salts. Easy to repair. Complies with voc regulations across North America. Can Contribute to LEED points. LIMITATIONS New concrete must be water cured and at least 28 days old. It has to be free from curing membrane, sealer or any other contamination which could impair good adhesion. Surfaces to be protected must be sound, smooth, dry and at a minimum temperature of 15°C. If prior repairs or leveling should be required, consult Chemdur for a selection of materials compatible with CHEMDUR RAMP TYPE II system. CHEMDUR RAMP TYPE II system is not recommended for slabs on grade not equipped with a vapor barrier. To ensure water vapor transmission, moisture proofing silane or siloxane sealer should be used. (Consult your Chemdur technical adviser). APPLICATION NOTE: Humidity in concrete must not exceed 4.25%. Materials should be conditioned at a temperature between 18ºC-26ºC. Minimum temperature of 15ºC at the time of applications and during the cure. Lower temperatures prolong curing time whereas higher ones accelerate it. For maximum waterproofness, the juncture walls/floors and columns/floors should also be protected by carrying the system application continuously 10cm onto vertical surfaces. SURFACE PREPARATION NEW CONCRETE Provide a relatively smooth finish by a wood float or a fine hair broom for a good adhesion of the membrane. Concrete should be water-cured (liquid curing membranes impair membrane bonding). NEW OR OLD CONCRETE Thorough cleaning and removal of any contaminant (e.g. oil, grease, laitance, paint, etc.) and deteriorated or spilled concrete is required. Concrete preparation by mechanical method followed by total removal of all debris, residue and dust. Data in this bulletin are based on our experience and present our best judgment in the matter. PREPARATION DETAILS MOVING AND NON-MOVING CRACKS (< 1.6 mm). Apply Chemdur Flex until crack is filled, a minimum of 2 in. wide on both sides of the joint or crack. Immediately imbed the fiber glass tape (Yellow Jacket only) into the Chemdur Flex over the crack and apply a second coat of Chemdur Flex on top of the fiber glass to make sure all the fiber glass tape is covered. MOVING AND NON-MOVING CRACKS (> 1.6 mm). Proceed same as above. EXPANSION JOINTS Chemdur recommends the ZB SYSTEM (Parking expansion joint cover system) or equivalent For more information please contact: CONSTRUCTION SPECIALTIES at www.c-sgroup.com or call 800-233-8493 FOR DRAIN Grind the concrete 1.6mm around the perimeter of the drain. DIRECTIONS FOR USE CHEMDUR FLEX – MEMBRANE Under agitation, add Part B (hardener) to Part A (resin) in the ratio indicated on the containers. Continue mixing till the material is homogeneous. Using a notched squeegee, spread liquid membrane at minimum thickness of 0.625mm corresponding to the coverage of 1.57m²/L. Roll-back the material to ensure complete contact with deck surface and a uniform thickness. For interior applications, at normal temperatures of 15-23°C., allow membrane to cure a maximum of 24 hours before applying the wear course. For higher temperatures and for exterior applications, apply the wear course as soon as the membrane becomes tack free. Longer curing time of the membrane could impair the adhesion of the wear course. If recommended curing times or temperatures are exceeded, it will be necessary to activate the surface of the membrane with CHEMDUR DL 62. Under agitation add Part B (hardener) to Part A (resin) in the ratio indicated on the containers. Continue mixing till the material is homogeneous. Spread out the mix with a notched squeegee to meet specified minimum thicknesses for different deck and ramp areas (refer to Table III). Roll-back the material to ensure complete contact with the membrane and a uniform thickness. AGGREGATE INCORPORATION Broadcast preselected aggregates onto wet wear course coat. Roll-back the material to ensure that the aggregate his fully saturated. MAINTENANCE Hose deck surfaces periodically to remove deicing salts and debris. Repairs are easily carried out using original liquid CHEMDUR RAMP TYPE II materials. Consult the manufacturer and follow their recommendations. TECHNICAL SERVICE Available on request. WARRANTY Available separately on request. SAFETY Skin contact can cause dermatitis. Wear gloves and goggles. Wash with soapy water. Do not inhale vapors. Use with adequate ventilation. If irritation persists, get immediate medical attention. For more information, consult CHEMDUR Material Safety Data Sheet. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN - FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY.
