What you need to know to fish on the Ternoise
To fish on the reciprocal routes of the Ternoise, it is necessary to have a Federal fishing licence affiliated to one of
the 4 AAPPMAs operating within the local area, or from a reciprocal AAPPMA of the department or to have an
inter-federal licence with an URNE stamp. Fishermen and women must accept and keep themselves informed of the
current regulations. They will be liable to a fine and/or an exclusion of the AAPPMA in the event of non-compliance.
Fishing on the Ternoise is permitted from the 2nd Saturday of March until the 3rd Sunday of September (inclusive).
An application is currently underway for a two weeks extension. Please consult www.peche62.fr regularly to find

Thanks to the reciprocal agreement between the 4 fishing associations on the Ternoise, you have the possibility of
fishing freely over 37 km of banks. This area is renowned for its first class fishing and has a large number of salmonids
from natural reproduction, as well as great migrators (Atlantic salmon and sea trout). You will be able to develop
various techniques at your leisure, such as fly fishing, lure fishing, fishing with natural bait... For a day, weekend or full
week, there’s fishing here to fulfil all your desires!
Regulations for fishing associations on the Ternoise under
the reciprocal agreement

Fish all year round:
Carte majeure
Adult licence if you are over 18.
Carte mineure
Young person’s licence if you are between 12 and 18.
Discovery licence if you are under 12.

Fish for one day: daily licence.

Please note: to benefit from the reciprocal agreement, you must purchase a fishing license from a “réciprocitaire” (reciprocal) fishing association from Pas-de-Calais or a card with an inter-federal stamp “URNE”

Want to try your hand at fishing? Whether alone, with friends or family, young or old, discover the pleasure of this nature-orientated leisure pursuit! The Pas-de-Calais Federation for Fishing and the Protection
of the Aquatic Environment offers a series of free initiation sessions for everyone, with equipment loan,
throughout the year.

• I take my waste away with me,
• I take care not to cause any damage and to close gates behind me,
• I do not interfere with vegetation along the banks of the streams.

A spontaneous fishing trip? Note that there are two shops in the Ternoise area which specialise in the sale or the
rental of fishing equipment and licences: “Au Canari“ in Hesdin and “La Boutique du Ternois“ in Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise.

Catch and release is mandatory for Atlantic salmon and sea trout. The autumnal prolongation
does not concern the Ternoise. Beware, the regulation is likely to change during 2015.

• The use of gaffs is prohibited; the use of a dip net is recommended.
• Treble hooks are prohibited for float fishing or ledgering.
• Ground baiting is forbidden (pellets, special trout bait, etc.).
• Fishing by wading in the water is prohibited, except in AAPPMA Auchy-les-Hesdin, where it is authorised from
the last Sunday of May.
• For the Hesdin AAPPMA, the catch limit is of six trout, taking all species together.
• Legal catch size for brown trout: 25 cm.
