Queen Elizabeth Way Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment Study
From Evans Avenue to Cawthra Road
THE STUDY
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is undertaking a Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment Study
to examine rehabilitation and improvement needs for the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) from Evans Avenue to Cawthra
Road. The study limits extend approximately 3.5 km through the City of Mississauga (Region of Peel) and the City of
Toronto.
THE PROCESS
This study is following the approved environmental planning process for Group “B” projects under the Class Environmental
Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000), with the opportunity for public input throughout. Three Public
Information Centres (PICs) and three Community Workshops are being held to facilitate public involvement. Upon
completion of the study, a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) will be completed and made available for a
30 day public review period. Newspaper notices will be published at that time to explain the review process and identify the
locations where the TESR is available for viewing.
PUBLIC CONSULTATION
The first PIC was held on October 11, 2012 and the first Community Workshop was held on December 8, 2012. The
purpose of the PIC and Community Workshop was to provide the public the opportunity to review and comment on the
alternatives under consideration and the proposed evaluation criteria.
A second PIC has been arranged to provide an opportunity for interested parties to review and comment on the results of
the assessment and evaluation process, and to present the technically preferred alternative.
PIC #2 will be held as a drop-in style, open house session to allow members of the public to review display materials and
discuss the study one-on-one with members of the Project Team. Members of the public, local residents and business
representatives are encouraged to attend. The PIC will be held as follows:

Étude de conception préliminaire et d’évaluation environnementale
du Queen Elizabeth Way, de l’avenue Evans au chemin Cawthra
L’ÉTUDE
Le ministère des Transports de l’Ontario entreprend la conception préliminaire et l’évaluation environnementale en
rapport avec les besoins du Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) en matière de réfection et d’amélioration, de l’avenue Evans au
chemin Cawthra. La portion de la route visée porte sur environ 3,5 km et traverse la ville de Mississauga (région de Peel) et
la ville de Toronto.
LE PROCESSUS
L’étude suit le processus approuvé de planification environnementale prévu pour les projets du groupe B aux termes de
l’Évaluation environnementale de portée générale pour les installations provinciales de transport (2000). Ce processus
prévoit la participation du public tout au long de l’étude. Trois séances d’information publique et trois ateliers
communautaires ont lieu afin de permettre au public de participer. Une fois l’étude terminée, on rédigera un rapport d’étude
environnementale pour les transports, que l’on mettra à la disposition du public pendant 30 jours pour recueillir ses
observations. Des avis seront publiés dans les journaux pour expliquer en quoi consiste le processus d’examen et où le
rapport d’étude sera disponible.
CONSULTATION AUPRÈS DU PUBLIC
La première séance d’information publique s’est déroulée le 11 octobre 2012 et le premier atelier communautaire a eu lieu
le 8 décembre 2012. La séance d’information publique et l’atelier communautaire avaient pour but de donner au public
l’occasion d’examiner le projet et de faire des observations sur les différents scénarios possibles et sur les critères
d’évaluation proposés.
Une deuxième séance a été mise sur pied pour permettre aux intéressés d’examiner et de commenter les résultats de
l’évaluation des solutions de rechange et de présenter l’alternative privilégiée du point de vue technique.
La deuxième séance se déroulera sous forme de porte ouverte où le public pourra voir des panneaux de présentation en
rapport avec le projet et discuter en personne avec les membres de l’équipe du projet. Le grand public, les résidents et les
