been established
and is about to launch a world
standard.The General Assembly of
the three merging organizations has
elected a new Board of Management
Hanns-Karl Tronnier, with Dr. Peter Penczynski from Siemens
Director General of EIBA AG as its president, and new
organizational processes with new management were initiated.
I wish all colleagues a lot of success with their new roles and tasks.
My sincerest "thank you" goes to Mr. G. Seip who has retired from
his position as Konnex president. As I, too, will soon leave the
active working life, I should like to take this opportunity to thank
all manufacturers and users of our EIB standard for their very
pleasant and fruitful cooperation over so many years.

ur zeit ist viel in Bewegung. Auf dem Weg zum Weltstandard
etabliert sich die Konnex Association. Die Generalversammlung der drei zusammenwachsenden Organisationen hat
einen neuen Vorstand gewählt, es gibt einen neuen
Präsidenten, Dr. Peter Penczynski von der Siemens AG, und
mit der Konnex Association haben auch neue Führungskräfte Verantwortung
übernommen. Allen wünsche ich viel Erfolg bei Ihren Aufgaben!
Danken möchte ich Herrn G.Seip, der seinen Führungsposten in der Konnex
Association übergeben hat. Auch ich werde mich in Kürze in den wohlverdienten Ruhestand verabschieden und möchte die Möglichkeit im EIB
Journal nutzen, mich für die langjährige gute Zusammenarbeit mit den
Herstellern und Anwendern des EIB zu bedanken.

a période actuelle est au mouvement : une norme mondiale
est sur le point de voir le jour, sous l’égide de l’Association
Konnex. L’Assemblée Générale des trois organisations qui ont
fusionné a élu un nouveau Comité de Direction présidé par Dr.
Peter Penczynski de Siemens AG. Et avec l’association Konnex,
des cadres nouveaux mettent en place une gestion nouvelle. A tous, je
formule des vœux de plein succès dans toutes leurs entreprises.
Je souhaite remercier tout particulièrement Monsieur G. Seip qui quitte ses
fonctions de directeur de la Konnex Association. Et puisque je m’apprête
également à faire mes adieux pour un repos bien gagné, je voudrais saisir
cette occasion et remercier tous les constructeurs et utilisateurs de l’EIB pour
leur bonne et fructueuse coopération, et pour leur fidélité tout au long de
ces années.

In the previous EIB Journal you were
informed about the birth of our new
organisation: Konnex Association. In that
article the First General Assembly was
announced, which took place the 20th
of March. In the last 6 months, between
the previous and the current transitional
edition of the journal all our efforts were
focused on bringing the Konnex Association into full swing.
Our preparations were aimed towards the first General Assembly which was for us the deadline to finalise all the formalities
so that the members who actively declared their company as
member of Konnex Association, could give a definitive GO for
the formal operation. To date 67 companies said definitively
YES to Konnex Association.They are mainly manufactures, one
utility company and several other interested parties.Up to now
one member, who was not member of one of the 3 existing
organisations, joined Konnex Association directly, this is the
company DOMOSYS from Canada. Some applications for
membership are still to come, but I am convinced that they will
surely be transmitted soon.
For the daily activities we decided to integrate the personnel
of all 3 associations into the new secretariat.This will surely be

In unserem letzten EIB-Journal berichteten wir
über die Geburt einer neuen Organisation, der
Konnex Association, und ihrer ersten Generalversammlung am 20. März.
Natürlich hat sich in den letzten 6 Monaten,
zwischen der letzten und der jetzigen umgestalteten Ausgabe des EIB-Journals, viel getan,
um die Arbeit der Konnex Association auf
Hochtouren zu bringen.
In der Vorbereitungsphase zur ersten Generalversammlung war unser Hauptaugenmerk
auf den rechtzeitigen Abschluss aller Formalitäten gerichtet, damit die Unternehmen, die
ihre Mitgliedschaft in der Konnex Association
angekündigt hatten, ihr grünes Licht für die
offizielle Arbeitsaufnahme geben konnten.
Bis heute haben 67 Unternehmen ihr JA zur
Konnex Association gegeben, darunter haupt-
sächlich Hersteller, aber auch ein Versorgungsunternehmen und etliche
andere Interessenten. Ein Unternehmen – DOMOSYS aus Kanada – das
vorher noch zu keiner der drei Gründerorganisationen gehörte, trat direkt
der Konnex Association bei.
Einige Anmeldungen stehen noch aus, doch der Anmeldeprozess wird
sicher bis Ende dieses Jahres abgeschlossen sein.
Für unser Tagesgeschäft werden wir die Mitarbeiter der drei Gründungsorganisationen in das neue Sekretariat in Brüssel zusammenführen. Sicher ist das für viele eine grobe Veränderung, denn von nun an ist
die Konnex Association ihr neues Arbeitsumfeld,und nicht mehr die Organisation, für die sie viele Jahre gearbeitet haben. Aber es zeigt sich, dass
jeder sein Bestes gibt,um diesen Übergang so reibungslos wie möglich zu
gestalten.
Mit den Geschäftsleitungen der drei Gründerorganisationen wurde
eine Übernahmephase der Geschäftsaktivitäten vereinbart.Während dieser Phase des Übergangs werden die drei Gründerorgansiationen ihre
Geschäftsaktivitäten im Rahmen ihrer eigenen Organisation allmählich
auf ein Minimum herunterschrauben und einen Teil der laufenden Akti-
vitäten an die Konnex Association weitergeben. Aus unterschiedlichen rechtlichen Gründen werden EIBA und EHSA als Organisationen
weiter bestehen. BCI hat eine offizielle
Unternehmensauflösung eingeleitet, die bis
Ende 2001 abgeschlossen sein wird.
Seit 1.April 2001 werden also das Sekretariat
und alle Promotionaktivitäten für den Vertrieb
des KNX-Standards von der Konnex Association
geführt, einschließlich der ursprünglich als BCI,
EIBA oder EHSA eingeführten Maßnahmen.
EHSA führt in diesem Jahr noch eine Aktion
parallel zu den Konnex Association Maßnahmen durch, die vollständig von EHSA organisiert und finanziert wird. Es handelt sich dabei

a big change for them as now they have to think Konnex Association in the first place,
although they had been working for a different association for many years.I can assure
you that everybody is contributing to make the change as smooth as possible.
In our discussions with representatives of the 3 management boards of the existing associations we came to a transitional procedure for the activities after the First
General Assembly. In general terms this means that all 3 associations will go into a
kind of minimum activity and outsource their current activities to Konnex Association.EIBA and EHSA will continue to exist as associations, for various legal reasons.BCI
has started a formal closing-down procedure, which they want to finalise before the
end of this year.
So, from the 1st of April onwards it is Konnex Association who runs the secretariat and all the activities to promote our KNX Standard, incorporating the activities
started as BCI, EIBA and EHSA.
EHSA has for this year still one activity in parallel to Konnex Association which they
will coordinate and finance themselves.This is the development of the conformance
test tool and test procedure for EHS 1.3a., the associated standard to KNX.
One of the main questions under discussion was the responsibility of the daily
activities within Konnex Association.The proposed solution which has been accepted by the founding members and which is proposed to the members during the First
General Assembly is to have a team of 3 executive directors, each one responsible for
a well defined part, but as a team responsible for the total operation.
The members of this so-called 3D-team are:
• Joost Demarest, responsible for administration / legal affairs and for the Certification of KNX products.
• Marc Goossens, responsible for all technical issues around the KNX Standard and for
the development and sales of the ETS software.
• Harry Crijns, responsible for the marketing of our Association and its Standard but
also for the communication support to the country organisations and to members.
The First General Assembly approved the proposal of the board.Hence,the 3D-team
continued with the integration of all bits and pieces which we have taken-over from
what we will call from now on "the 3 legacy associations". We
will do our utmost to present you at the next general assembly
an enormous progress in the settlement of the structure in Konnex Association and the activities we have initiated in order to
promote our Standard KNX from different angles for different
target groups.
What made the First General Assembly to a historical event
was the first election of the Konnex Association’s Management
Board for the period of 2001 – 2005. All company and persons
who volunteered as candidates were elected by acclamation.
In a separate session the new board elected the president and
vice-president of Konnex Association for the coming period.
Before resigning his function and offering his chair to the
new president, Mr. Günter G. Seip congratulated all board
members with their election and wished them a fruitful period to bring Konnex Association and its Standard KNX to higher level of acceptance in the Market.

Association is on page 6 (see graph).
After the First General Assembly of Konnex Association the
members of the secretariat together with the 3D team have
started to speed-up the restructuring and integration process.
The projects,which have at the moment the highest priority,are:
• Finalising the final version amongst the final version 1.1 of the
KNX Standard, in cooperation with the technical Board and its
working groups.

• Developing the certification process of KNX products.
• Working out, together with the Marketing Board and its
workgroups the relationship between Konnex Association in
Brussels and the organisations in the different countries in
terms of marketing and communication.
• The work group, WG-2, of the Marketing Board (KMB) has
started to prepare documentation and presentations
concerning the implementation of the KNX technology in
system components for on the one hand the different communication media and on the other hand the 3 different
configuration mechanisms. The result of this project will be
made available to all members to inform their development
departments on the added values of the KNX Standard and
on the different possibilities of developing KNX certifiable
products.
As you see a lot of interesting and important work for the
promotion of our KNX standard is in progress. We will keep
you informed on our new website: www.konnex.org, which
will be released soon.

um das Tool zum Testen der Konformität und um die Testprozedur für
EHS 1.3a., dem KNX kompatiblen Standard.
Eine der meist diskutierten Fragen war, wie die Verantwortungsbereiche des Tagesgeschäfts innerhalb Konnex Association verteilt
werden. Die vorgeschlagene Lösung, die auch von den Gründerfirmen akzeptiert und den Mitgliedern auf der Generalversammlung
vorgestellt wurde, sieht vor, ein Gremium von drei Direktoren einzurichten.Jeder Direktor ist zwar für einen genau abgesteckten Bereich
verantwortlich, gemeinsam führen sie aber als Team den gesamten
Konnex Association Verantwortungsbereich.
Die Mitglieder dieses sogenannten 3D-Teams sind:
• Joost Demarest, verantwortlich für Verwaltungs- und Rechtsfragen und die Zertifizierung der KNX-Produkte.
• Marc Goossens,verantwortlich für alle technischen Aspekte des KNXStandards und für Entwicklung und Vertrieb der ETS-Software.
• Harry Crijns,verantwortlich sowohl für das Marketing der Konnex
Association und für das KNX-Produktmarketing, als auch für die
Kommunikation mit den Länderorganisationen und Mitgliedern.
Die erste Generalversammlung verabschiedete diesen Vorschlag,
so dass das 3D-Team unmittelbar danach mit der Zusammenführung
der Aktivitäten der drei Gründerorganisationen – auch genannt
„3 legacy associations“ – beginnen konnte. Unser ganzes Bestreben
ist nun darauf gerichtet, Ihnen auf der nächsten Generalversammlung die erfolgreiche Festigung der neuen Konnex Association Strukturen demonstrieren zu können. Die konsequente und gezielte
Vermarktung unseres KNX-Standards läuft inzwischen bereits auf
Hochtouren.
Höhepunkt der ersten Generalversammlung war die Wahl des
ersten Vorstandes der Konnex Association für den Zeitraum 2001 –
2005. Alle als Kandidaten aufgestellten Unternehmen und Personen
wurden durch Abstimmung gewählt. Der neue Vorstand wählte in
einer separaten Sitzung den Präsidenten und den Vizepräsidenten.
Bei der Übergabe seines Führungspostens an den neuen Präsidenten, gratulierte Herr Günter G. Seip allen Mitgliedern des neuen Vorstands und wünschte ihnen viel Erfolg in ihrem Bestreben,der Konnex
Association und dem KNX-Standard wachsende Akzeptanz auf dem
Markt zu verschaffen.

Nach der ersten Generalversammlung der Konnex Association widmeten sich die Mitarbeiter
des Sekretariats und des 3D-Teams der zügigen
Umstrukturierung und Integration aller beteiligten Personen und Geschäftsprozesse.
Höchste Priorität haben dabei:
• Abschluss der Version 1.1 des KNX-Standards,
in Zusammenarbeit mit der technischen Leitung
und den verantwortlichen Arbeitsgruppen.
• Entwicklung einer Zertifizierungsprozedur
für KNX-Produkte.
• Erarbeitung einer Kooperation zwischen der
Konnex Association in Brüssel und den Länderorganisationen im Bereich Marketing und Kommunikation, in Zusammenarbeit mit der Marketingabteilung und deren Arbeitsgruppen.
• Die Arbeitsgruppe WG-2 der Marketingabteilung (KMB) hat mit der Erstellung von
Dokumentationen und Präsentationen über
die Einführung der KNX-Technologie in Systemkomponenten begonnen, zielgerichtet
auf die unterschiedlichen Kommunikationsmedien und die drei unterschiedlichern Konfigurationsmechanismen.Das Ergebnis dieser
Arbeit wird allen Mitgliedern bekanntgegeben, damit diese ihre Entwicklungsabteilungen über den Wertzuwachs ihrer Produkte
durch KNX und die Möglichkeit, KNX-zertifizierte Komponenten zu entwickeln,informieren können.Sie sehen,dass sich inzwischen in
punkto KNX-Vermarktung viel getan hat.Mit
unserer in Kürze eröffnenden Homepage
www.konnex.org werden wir Sie an unseren
Aktionen teilhaben lassen.

L‘Association Konnex sur la bonne route
Dans notre dernier Journal EIB,nous avions
annoncé la naissance d‘une organisation
nouvelle : l‘Association Konnex et sa première Assemblée Générale le 20 mars.
Naturellement au cours des six derniers
mois,entre la dernière et la présente refonte du journal, nous avons multiplié toutes
les occasions de faire travailler l’association « à pleines turbines ».
Dans la phase des préparations préalables à la première Assemblée Générale,
nous avons concentré nos efforts sur le
montage juridique de toutes les formalités
afin que les entreprises ayant fait connaître
leur partenariat au sein de l‘Association
Konnex puissent donner leur feu vert au
démarrage du travail.
Jusqu’alors, 67 entreprises – majoritairement des constructeurs, mais également une entreprise
de maintenance et
quelques autres intéressés – ont dit OUI à
l‘Association Konnex.

à aucune des trois
organisations fondatrices, a fait son
entrée directement

nex.Quelques inscriptions nous manquent
encore à ce jour, mais ces modalités seront
très certainement achevées d’ici la fin de
cette année.
Pour notre masse de travail quotidienne, nous allons rassembler les membres
des trois organisations fondatrices,au nouveau secrétariat de Bruxelles. Ce qui n’ira
pas sans de grands bouleversements au
sein des mentalités : en effet, ceux qui tra-
vaillaient depuis de nombreuses années
pour une organisation devront désormais
penser Association Konnex avant tout,
comme nouveau champ d’action professionnel. Et pourtant tout indique déjà que
chacun met tout en œuvre pour amorcer ce
virage en virtuose.
Concernant la gestion des affaires des
trois organisations fondatrices, il a été
convenu une période de prise en charge
des activités professionnelles. Au cours de
cette phase transitoire, les trois organisations fondatrices réduiront graduellement
leurs activités professionnelles jusqu’à un
minimum dans le cadre de leur propre
organisation, tandis qu’elles transféreront
une partie des activités en cours à l’Association Konnex.Pour divers motifs
d’ordre juridique, l’EIBA et l’EHSA garderont leur statut d’association. BCI
a mis en place une procédure officielle de dissolution,qui s’achévera avant
la fin de l’année 2001.
Depuis le 1er avril 2001, le secrétariat et les activités de promotion
concernant la distribution de la norme KNX sont donc entièrement assurés par l’Association Konnex qui y intègre les activités initialement mises
en place par BCI, EIBA ou EHSA.
EHSA qui cette année, mène une action en parallèle à l’Association
Konnex dont l’organisation et le financement sont entièrement pris en
charge par l’EHSA : il s’agit de l’outil de test de conformité et de la procédure de test de l’EHS 1.3a., la norme KNX compatible.
L’une des questions les plus discutées a porté sur la distribution des
plages de responsabilités des tâches quotidiennes au sein de l’Association
Konnex.La solution proposée et également acceptée par les organisations
fondatrices, puis présentées aux partenaires lors de l’assemblée générale
prévoit de mettre en place un comité de trois directeurs. Chacun d’eux
serait alors responsable d’un secteur rigoureusement délimité, tout en
ayant une responsabilité globale sur la totalité de l’opération en tant
qu’équipe.
Les membres de cette équipe 3D sont :
• Joost Demarest, responsable des questions de gestion et de droit, et de
l’homologation des produits KNX.
• Marc Goossens,responsable de tous les aspects techniques de la norme
KNX, ainsi que du développement et de la distribution du logiciel ETS.
• Harry Crijns, responsable du marketing de l’Association Konnex et du
marketing du produit KNX. Responsable aussi de la communication avec
les organisations nationales et partenaires.
La première Assemblée Générale a approuvé cette proposition pour que
notre équipe 3D puisse démarrer immédiatement les activités des trois
organisations fondatrices – également désignées «3 legacy associations»
– à mener de front. Nous orientons tous nos efforts pour pouvoir vous
démontrer dès la prochaine assemblée générale, le succès structurel de la
nouvelle Association Konnex. Le marketing important et ciblé de notre
norme KNX bat son plein d’ores et déjà.
Moment fort de la première assemblée générale :l’élection du premier
comité de direction de l’Association Konnex pour le mandat 2001 – 2005.
Tous les chefs d’entreprises et particuliers,présentant leur candidature,ont
été élus par vote.Le nouveau comité a élu en séances séparées le Président
et le Vice-Président.
Lors de la passation directoriale au nouveau Président, Herr Günter G.
Seip a félicité tous les partenaires du nouveau comité et leur a souhaité
plein succès dans leurs efforts pour que l’Association Konnex et la norme
KNX connaissent une acceptation grandissante sur le marché.

Après la première assemblée générale
de l’Association Konnex, les membres du
secrétariat et de l’équipe 3D se sont consacrés à la restructuration à venir et à l’intégration de toutes les personnes intéressées
et processus d’activités.
D’où se dégagent les priorités suivantes :
• Bouclage de la version 1.1 de la norme
KNX, en coopération avec la direction technique et les groupes de travail responsables.
• Développement d’une procédure d’homologation pour les produits KNX.
• Elaboration d’une coopération entre
l’association Konnex à Bruxelles et les
organisations nationales dans les secteurs
Marketing et Communication, en collaboration avec le département Marketing et
ses groupes de travail.
• Le groupe de travail WG-2 (Work
Group-2) du département Marketing
(KMB) s’est lancé dans la création de
documentations et présentations de la
technologie KNX dans les composants système. Ceci, à l’intention des différents
média de communication et des trois différents mécanismes de configuration. Le
résultat de ce travail sera porté à la
connaissance de tous les partenaires afin
qu’ils puissent à leur tour informer leurs
départements de développement de la
valeur ajoutée de leurs produits grâce à
KNX, ainsi que de la possibilité de développer des composants certifiés KNX.

d’importantes démarches ont été faites
dans la dynamique « lancement sur le marché de la norme KNX ». Notre homepage
www.konnex.org qui ouvre incessamment, vous tiendra informés de toutes nos
actions en ce sens.

The Beta test phase was completed successfully,

The reason for this is the integrated interface to
application programming interface (API).
In addition to the expanded API interface, the following
functions have been added to version 2.2 of the EITT software.
EITT 2.3 allows to carry out conformity testing over 2 COM
interfaces. This is very useful when local service tests have to
be performed via the PEI. Then you have a choice of handshake or FT1.2 as communication protocol.
A new dialog field for generating telegrams makes it easier
to define polling requests and confirmations.
Jokers can now be set for received telegrams in the dialog
field of the faulty telegrams.
EITT 2.3 allows to set filter criteria in which three OR criteria
can be set (source/destination address and priority).These OR
criteria can then be AND-linked with other sets of criteria.Even
when one filter is activated, all telegrams are read from the bus
and written to the trace buffer but only the telegrams which
meet the set criteria are indicated.
EITT 2.3 also offers an integrated trigger function. Definition
of the trigger criteria is governed by the same rules as for definition of the filter criteria. In addition, the time at which you
want the telegrams to be indicated can be specified
(x telegrams before, after, or before and after the telegram
which matches the trigger conditions).Telegrams which don’t
meet the trigger conditions are not written to the trace buffer.

Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss der Beta-Testphase wird die EIBA nun
bald mit dem nächsten Update (2.3) des EIB Test Tools an die Öffentlichkeit gehen. EITT erfreut sich wachsender Beliebtheit nicht nur in
Entwicklungs- und Testabteilungen, sondern hält auch Einzug in die
Produktions- und Qualitätssparten. Grund dafür ist die integrierte
Schnittstelle zur Anwendungsprogrammierung (API).
Neu an der Version 2.2 der EITT-Software sind neben der erweiterten API-Schnittstelle zusätzliche Funktionen:
EITT 2.3 ermöglicht einen Konformitätstest über 2 COM-Schnittstellen, was besonders nützlich ist, wenn es gilt, Local Servicetests
über die PEI durchzuführen. Als Kommunikationsprotokoll kann in
diesem Fall zwischen Handshake und FT1.2 gewählt werden.
Ein neues Dialogfeld zur Generierung von Telegrammen erleichtert die Definition von Pollinganfragen und -bestätigungen.
Im Dialogfeld der fehlerhaften Telegramme ist es nun möglich, Joker
für empfangene Telegramme zu setzen.
EITT 2.3 erlaubt den Einsatz mehrerer Tracefilter, in denen drei ODERKriterien gesetzt (Quell-/Zieladresse und Priorität), die dann wiederum
mit anderen Kriteriensätzen per UND verknüpft werden können. Selbst
bei einem aktivierten Filter werden zwar alle Telegramme vom Bus gelesen und in den Trace-buffer geschrieben, aber nur die den gesetzten Kriterien entsprechenden Telegramme werden angezeigt.
EITT 2.3 bietet eine integrierte Triggerfunktion.Bei der Definition der Triggerkriterien gilt dieselbe Regel wie bei der Definition der Filterkriterien.
Zusätzlich gibt es aber hier die Möglichkeit, den Zeitpunkt der Telegrammanzeige festzulegen: x Telegramme vor, nach, oder vor und nach dem Telegramm, das den Triggerbedingungen entspricht.Telegramme, die die Triggerbedingungen nicht erfüllen,werden nicht in den Tracebuffer geschrieben.

EITT 2.3 offers a function for comparing two telegrams
(”C” key in the trace buffer toolbar). The result appears in a
dialog screen and can be exported in a text file.
In EITT 2.3 you can select all bookmarks of a ctl file and automatically set the physical address of the local BCU to that
selected in the sequence.

secteurs production et qualité.La raison tient en un mot :API (= interface intégrée pour programmation d’application).
Outre l’extension de l’interface API, les nouveautés fonctionnelles par rapport à la version

Centers in the Far East
of the EIB trainer course.The tests were preceded by a day of
preparation during which the inspectors from EIBA Brussels
presented a short summary of the EIB tutor documentation.
Last but not least technical equipment and organization of the
EIB courses was inspected.
On the last day of the visit to Shanghai, the EIB Certification
Manager held a speech on EIB at a very well attended press
conference organized by Siemens.

Neue zertifizierte EIB-Schulungszentren im Fernen Osten
Im ersten Quartal dieses Jahres reiste ein Mitarbeiter der EIB Zertifizierungsabteilung
gemeinsam mit einem externen Co-auditor 9000 Meilen weit in den Fernen Osten, um die
ersten beiden EIB Schulungszentren der Volksrepublik China (SIAS und Tongji Universität
in Shanghai) und zwei weitere EIB-Lehreinrichtungen in Singapur (ITE Dover und das ABB
Schulungszentrum) zu besuchen.
Während dieser zweiwöchigen engen Zusammenarbeit nahmen die 13 EIB-Schulungsleiter der neuen Ausbildungsstätten an den theoretischen und praktischen Prüfungen des
EIB-Ausbilderkurses teil. Den Prüfungen ging ein Vorbereitungstag voraus, an dem die
Besucher von EIBA Brüssel eine kurze Zusammenfassung des EIB-Ausbilderprogramms
gaben.Die Inspektion der technischen Geräte sowie der Organisation der EIB-Kurse schloss
mit einer EIB-Prüfung ab.
Am letzten Tag des Aufenthaltes in Shanghai erläuterte der Verantwortliche der EIBZertifizierungsabteilung Sinn und Inhalt der EIB-Zertifizierung auf einer sehr gut besuchten, von der örtlichen Siemens-Vertretung organisierten Pressekonferenz.

Formation EIB homologués en Extrême-Orient
Le premier trimestre de cette année a été témoin d’un long voyage :
9000 miles à travers l’Extrême Orient franchis par un membre de la
division Certification EIB, accompagné d’un homologue externe afin
de visiter les deux premiers centres de formation EIB de la République
Populaire de Chine (SIAS et Université de Tongji à Shanghai) et deux
autres antennes d’information EIB à Singapour (ITE Dover et le centre
de formation ABB).
Au cours de ces deux semaines de collaboration étroite, les 13 formateurs de formation des nouvelles structures se sont soumis aux
examens, tant pratiques que théoriques, du cours de formation EIB.
Les tests étaient précédés d’une journée de préparation à l’occasion
de laquelle nos visiteurs d’EIBA Bruxelles présentaient un bref aperçu du programme de formateur EIB. L’inspection des équipements
techniques ainsi que l’organisation des cours EIB s’est conclue par un
test EIB.
Le dernier jour de l’étape à Shanghai, les responsables de la division homologation EIB ont expliqué en détails les tenants et aboutissants de l’homologation EIB lors d’une conférence de presse très
écoutée, organisée par le représentant Siemens local.

was an ”island” next to other building automation systems
(e.g., blinds control with sensors to detect sunshine or an alarm
system with window contacts, motion detectors and key
switches). Now that Buderus has developed the new FM 446
EIB interface, the control system can be integrated in the EIB
system. It can manage up to 7 heating circuits and one drinking water heater with circulation pump.It also offers extra control functions and maintenance services.
• Single-room heating control with EIB not only ensures comfortable room temperatures.The central boiler system can also
be adjusted via the bus system to the heating requirements of
the various rooms.The EIB single-room control changes the setting of the radiator’s valve based on how the room is being
used at the moment.This valve setting is then used to adjust
the heating circuit curve automatically.
• Significant energy savings up to 20 %.In economy and reduction mode, the mixers are closed and the heating circuit circulation pump and,if necessary,the furnace are turned off.In addition
to conventional time control,economy mode can be controlled
by using presence detectors, window contacts or locking

• The FM 446 function module permits automatic or manual
modification of operational states using appropriate EIB
sensors such as key switches, window contacts, presence

states, temperature setpoints and actual values can be presented on EIB display units.The EIB module also forwards malfunction and error messages from the control unit of the
Logamatic 4000 system to the EIB system.

The Vitocom 200 communication interface from Viessmann can be used to integrate heating systems into an EIB system.
The data points provided by the Viessmann controllers are transmitted via the
Viessmann, 2-wire bus to the Vitocom
200 where the data are converted to the
appropriate protocol. EIB connects the
room valves with each other and with the
heating control.For example,in buildings
with single-room control, the valve settings can be recorded to calculate the
current heating requirements of the
building and thus adjust boiler control.
In addition, when the window contacts indicate that windows are open,the
heat can be turned down.
This makes it very easy to integrate
heat generators (e.g., heat pumps and
solar energy systems) into the control
system for optimum operation.
When leaving the house, occupants
can turn down the heat with a display,
or it can also be automatically regulated
with extra network components such as
a door contact. Controlling the heat
over the telephone is also possible.

eine Abfrage von Fensterkontakten eine
Reduzierung der Wärmeleistung bei geöffneten Fenstern erreicht werden.
Problemlos lassen sich auch Wärmeerzeuger wie Wärmepumpen und Solaranlagen in das Regelsystem einbinden
und somit optimal betreiben.
Die Bewohner können beim
Verlassen des Hauses die Heizung über Display oder über zu
installierende Netzwerkkomponenten wie einen Türkontakt
automatisch auf reduzierten Betrieb schalten. Eine Umschaltung
über Telefon ist auch denkbar.
Möglich ist auch, Fehlermeldungen an
den Heizungsbauer weiterzuleiten oder
durch eine entsprechende Datenauswertung eine bedarfsgerechte Fernwartung
zu initiieren.

automatic timer.The talento 994 EIB has four channels, can be
programmed as desired and can be used everywhere for all
time-dependent applications.A few examples – lighting, heating or blinds/shutters.The programs (daily, weekly and annual programs) can be created on the user interface of the automatic timer or on a PC with the ”talento dialog” software
written especially for this purpose.This also includes the Astro
program. Talento dialog can be used to create annual programs up to 2096, graphical presentation of the timer programs and program evaluation with number of switching
points, duration of the switching states (ON/OFF) and consumption in kwh. Using an IR interface and the ”talento taxxi”
hand-held transmission device, these timer programs are

From 27th until 31st of March the Internationale Sanitär und Heizungs Messe
(ISH) took place in Frankfurt. For the 3rd
time in row, EIBA was present on the fair,
this time, under the flag of the Konnex
Association (photo 1, above). With the
help of member companies,typical Heating and Sanitary solutions where shown
on a booth of over 120m2 in hall 10.2.

ish/ish2001. Some interesting new developments were presented in the heating and sanitary application field, amongst
others Buderus introducing their burner control based on EIB.
Both on the Konnex booth as well as their own, Stiebel
Eltron and Oras demonstrated a combination of a Warm Water
heater controlled via EIB with a Water Faucet. Viessmann and
Junkers (Bosch Thermotechnik) were also present at the
Konnex booth with their respective EIB solutions. Abovementioned Heating and Sanitary EIB solutions together with
solutions from Busch-Jaeger, Jung, Berker, Merten and Siemens
clearly demonstrated that integration of products from different application domains can be easily realised with EIB and
can moreover be programmed by the common software tool
ETS©.This full interworking is especially ensured via the sound
EIB certification procedure. The participation in an EIB combined course will allow any professional, be it electrician or
heating/sanitary installer, to integrate EIB solutions from
several application domains.
EIB is clearly no longer restricted to lighting and shutter
applications alone:one more reason to cooperate with BatiBus
Club International and European Home Systems.
With these sound partners,EIBA envisages the integration of
Home & Building applications in One Single Standard (photo 2,
below). The interest from the visitors at the booth, both from
Manufacturer as well as from the Craftsman side, showed that
EIB is the right basis to build on, and
together the three associations will work
hard to be able to present the KNX compatible Heating and sanitary applications at the next ISH fair in 2003.

Du nouveau dans la technologie du chauffage
et de l’équipement sanitaire
Du 27 au 31 mars a eu lieu à Francfort la
foire internationale des équipements sanitaires et de chauffage (= Internationale
Sanitär- und Heizungsmesse = ISH). Pour
la troisième fois, EIBA y était dûment
représenté – et cette fois-ci par l’Association Konnex (photo 1, haut). Sur un stand

compagnie des entreprises partenaires les
solutions typiques dans le domaine du
sanitaire et du chauffage, intégrées dans

Avec de nouveaux développements qui ont
particulièrement impressionné dans ce
secteur, parmi lesquels : la commande de
brûleurs implémentée avec l’EIB,proposée par Buderus,tandis que Stiebel
Eltron et Oras faisaient la démonstration sur le stand Konnex ainsi que sur
les leurs, de la combinaison parfaitement réussie d’un système de chauffe-eau contrôlé par EIB,associé à un robinet spécial Oras.Les solutions EIB
de Viessmann et Junkers (Bosch Thermotechnik) venaient grandir le
champ d’exposition.Sans oublier les solutions Busch-Jaeger,Jung,Berker,
Merten et Siemens qui illustraient en beauté l’intégration réussie des produits EIB dans les corps de métiers les plus variés du réseau EIB ainsi que
l’efficacité de l’outil ETS© pour programmer le système dans sa globalité.
L’homologation EIB garantissant interopérabilité et compatibilité des
différents sous-domaines. Un cours de « combinatoires EIB » propose aux
exécutants – installateurs électriques ainsi qu’installateurs chauffagistes
et d’équipements sanitaires, une information détaillée sur l’intégration
des sous-domaines respectifs dans une solution intégrale de réseau EIB.
EIB n’est désormais plus cantonné aux systèmes d’éclairage et de commande de stores. Encore une bonne raison de coopérer étroitement avec
les organisations BatiBus Club International et European Home Systems !
En partenariat avec ces associés, l’EIBA
projette de réunir en un unique standard
les applications domotiques et immotique
(photo 2,en bas). L’intérêt massif des visiteurs – constructeurs et installateurs –
a fait la preuve que l’EIB en tant que standard dans l’électrotechnique connaît une
acceptation grandissante.Les trois organisations poursuivent résolument cette voie
en concertant leur action et en œuvrant en
conséquence à cet objectif : présenter à
l’occasion de la prochaine Foire ISH (janvier
2003) les applications compatibles chauffage et sanitaires.

Vom 27. bis 31. März fand in Frankfurt die Internationale
Sanitär- und Heizungsmesse (ISH) statt. Auch EIBA war wieder
dabei, inzwischen zum dritten Mal, diesmal repräsentiert von

auch auf ihrem eigenen Messestand den gelungenen Versuch,
ein von EIB gesteuertes Wasserheizgerät mit einem Wasser Faucet zu kombinieren. EIB-Lösungen von Viessmann und Junkers
(Bosch Thermotechnik) erweiterten das Ausstellungsfeld. Und
nicht zuletzt die Lösungen von Busch-Jaeger, Jung, Berker, Merten und Siemens gaben ein klares Bild von der gelungenen
Integration von EIB-Produkten aus den unterschiedlichsten
Gewerken in das EIB-Bussystem und der effizienten Programmierung der Gesamtlösung mit der ETS©.
100%ige Durchgängigkeit und Kompatibilität der einzelnen Teilbereiche werden
durch die EIB-Zertifizierung garantiert. In
einem EIB-Kombinationskurs können sich
die Ausführenden – sowohl Elektriker als
auch Heizungs- und Sanitärinstallateure –
über die Integration einzelner Teilbereiche
in eine EIB-Gesamtlösung informieren.
EIB beschränkt sich also längst nicht
mehr auf Beleuchtung und Jalousien. Ein
weiterer Grund für eine enge Kooperation
mit den Organisationen BatiBus Club
International und European Home Systems!
Gemeinsam mit diesen Partnern hat
EIBA die Vision, Heim- und Gebäudeanwendungen in einem einzigen Standard zu
vereinen (Foto 2, unten).Großes Besucherinteresse, Hersteller und Installateure,
zeigte, dass der EIB als Standard für die
Elektrotechnik zunehmende Akzeptanz
erfährt.Konnex will diesen Weg fortsetzen
und konsequent an dem Ziel arbeiten,
KNX-kompatible Heizungs- und Sanitäranwendungen auf der nächsten ISH-Messe
im Jahre 2003 auszustellen.

in Nederland
een steeds
groter wordende
populariteit
Duidelijk waarneembaar is dat de inspanningen van de EIBA partners in Nederland
om EIB bekend en populair te maken gehoor hebben gevonden in de markt.Thans
geniet EIB een zeer grote naamsbekendheid bij de elektrotechnische installateurs en
eindklanten.
Siemens Nederland N.V. neemt in dit geheel van inspanningen een bijzondere
plaats in door alle marktgebieden te bedienen. Niet alleen voor kantoorgebouwen
en winkelcentra, maar ook voor luxe woonhuizen en sociale woningbouw, zoals
woningen voor ouderen en woningen voor mensen met een handicap. Uitgangspunt is in het laatst genoemde voorbeeld de zogenaamde "levensloop
bestendige woning."
Levensloop bestendig
Juist de levensloop bestendige woning staat enorm in de belangstelling bij woningcorporaties, alsook bij gemeentelijke instellingen die als doelstelling zien dat een
bewoner met een handicap zo lang mogelijk in zijn of haar woning kan blijven
wonen. Een woning die naar gelang de handicap verergert, aangepast kan worden
met EIB.Ook zorgverzekeraars die financieel moeten ondersteunen, zien steeds meer
het belang in van de investering in deze flexilbele EIB technology. Verpleegkosten
voor een intensieve opname worden daarmee verlaagd, hetgeen tot grote kostenbesparingen leidt.
Scholingsconcept
Elektrotechnische installatiebedrijven die met instabus EIB werken zijn zeer divers. In
de praktijk houdt dat nog wel eens in dat er installateurs zijn die zonder kennis van
zaken met instabus EIB aan de slag gaan, wat voor de opdrachtgever meestal nare
gevolgen heeft. Siemens heeft zich daarom ten doel gesteld bij een goed kwaliteitsproduct als instabus EIB ook uitsluitend met goed gekwalificeerde installateurs te
werken. Installateurs die bereid zijn te investeren in nieuwe technieken en monteurs
de EIB cursus te laten volgen bij het VEV te Nijkerk, het grootste opleidingsinstituut
voor EIB Nederland.Door bij installatiebedrijven het belang van deze EIB cursus onder
de aandacht te brengen voor zowel het projecteren, het installeren als het in bedrijfstellen en daarmee een tevreden opdrachtgever te krijgen, mag als een succesvolle
actie worden gezien.Tot op heden hebben 29 monteurs op initiatief van Siemens de
EIB cursus gevolgd en zijn daarmee volledig EIB gecertificeerd. Tevens zijn deze
gecertificeerde installatiebedrijven ervan overtuigd hiermee een investering te
hebben gedaan voor de toekomst. Zij kunnen nu een antwoord geven aan de stijgende vraag naar instabus EIB.

Great interest in the
3rd EIB conference
for training centres
On 23 April 2001 EIBA organised the annual EIB Conference for training centres in Frankfurt/Main: this
event is especially intended as an annual training
measure for the tutors of EIB certified training centres, where they receive up-to-date information on
the latest EIB system and tool developments. Last
year’s event also proved to be a platform for manufacturers to present their latest product developments to the training centres.
This year’s event was very much frequented: over
70 participants both from the training centres as well
as the industry participated in the event, during
which the following subjects were presented (simultaneous interpreting respectively in German or English):
• certification of training centres
• working with iETS client and server
• working with the EIB OPC Server
• EIB and KNX Easy installation
• Tool novelties (outlook on ETS NG)
• Product novelties from Somfy, Albrecht Jung,
Siemens, Theben and Buderus
The 4th annual EIB training centre is scheduled for
April 2002.

Am 20.März wurde Hans-Georg Krabbe in die Führungsriege der
Konnex Association mit Sitz in Brüssel gewählt.
Die neue Gesellschaft vereint die drei europäischen Bussysteme Batibus, EIB und EHS. Sie wird eine führende Rolle bei der
Standardisierung von Heim- und Gebäudesystemen übernehmen.
Die Konnex Association kann auf eine über zehnjährige Erfahrung
der drei Bussysteme aufbauen. Im Hinblick auf einen gemeinsamen Marktstandard ein Schritt in die richtige Richtung.
