II- The National School of Administration, location of training seminar
Created by General de Gaulle in 1945, the founding principles of the
Ecole nationale d’administration (ENA) are to broaden access to the
highest executive levels of government services, and to provide
professional training for senior civil servants. In 1991, the School was
“relocated” to Strasbourg, but kept buildings in Paris (the former
“Colonial School” which was opened in 1896) dedicated to continuous
training and international cooperation.
The main tasks of ENA include initial and continuous training of French and foreign high-level civil servants
as wall as cooperation activities with partners from Europe and other continents. The School trained more
than 6500 French officials and nearly 3000 foreign students as part of its long-term training programme.
As a substantial part of ENA students also join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, many training themes
concern international relations, trade and diplomatic and European matters. ENA regularly collaborates with
institutions and diplomatic academies, bilaterally or in the frame of consortia in order to respond to tenders.

III- Travel and commute in Paris
The fastest way to get around in Paris is by metro. The bus network and the metro are operated by RATP.
The metro, bus and RER networks do not work overnight. The metro and buses run until 0:50 (last metro
train). Most RER lines run until 11:30 pm. You can check the timetable on the RATP website :
http://www.ratp.fr/
Tickets and fares for travel
Single ticket: Cost 1,70 euros (2 euros when purchased directly from a bus driver). Valid throughout the
metro network located in Paris (zones 1 and 2), the entire bus network located in Paris (zones 1 and 2) and
across the RER network located in Paris (zones 1 and 2). With one ticket, you can change metro lines several
times without buying a new ticket if you do not get out of the metro. If you change buses or go by bus to the
metro, you must buy a new ticket.
Book of 10 tickets: Cost 13,30 euros. Valid throughout the metro network located in Paris (zones 1 and 2),
the entire bus network located in Paris (zones 1 and 2) and across the RER network located in Paris (zones 1
and 2). With one ticket, you can change metro lines several times without buying a new ticket if you do not
get out of the metro. If you change buses or go by bus to the metro, you must buy a new ticket. Your ticket is
valid for a trip on the railway network in the Ile-de-France. This formula is best if you stay in Paris for 3
days.
Tickets for airports: specific rate (see Section “Arrival in Paris”).
Packages for a day or more
Mobilis package: You can purchase this package for 1 day (6,60 euros) and have unlimited access to the
entire metro, RER and bus networks located in Paris zones 1 and 2 from 5:30 am (time of the first metro)
until 1:00 am (last metro train). This price is advantageous if you take the metro more than 5 times a day.
Paris Tour Package: You can purchase this package for 1 day (10,55 euros), 2 days (17,15 euros), 3 days
(23,40 euros) or 5 days (33,70 euros) and have unlimited access to the entire metro, RER and bus networks
located in Paris Zones 1 and 2. This package offers you discounts for some Parisian museums but is
expensive compared to the use of public transport you should do during your stay.
For more information concerning the metro map and schedules, please visit the RATP website:
http://www.ratp.fr/
RATP information: tel. : 32-46 (0,34 € / min; weekdays from 7am to 9pm, weekends and holidays from 9am
to 5:15 pm).
You can purchase tickets at ticket offices of metro, RER and tramway stations, as well as at some bus
terminus. Bus tickets can be purchased directly within the bus but they are more expensive.
At each station, you can buy tickets either at ticket offices or automatic ticket machines usually located next
to ticket offices. Payment by credit card is accepted for books of 10 tickets, packages and tickets to Paris
airports; the purchase of tickets sold as single units must be in cash.
Licensed businesses
Many shops (bookshops, newsagents, tobacconists...) are available to buy metro and bus tickets. They are
indicated by a sign representing a metro ticket, the rates are the same as in ticket offices.

IV- Hotels near ENA:
Paris is divided into 20 districts and is crossed by the Seine (the districts located at the north of the Seine are
called the Right Bank and the ones at the south of the Seine are called the Left Bank).
The ENA is located in the Left Bank near the sixth and fifth districts.
There are many hotels within a one kilometer radius around ENA and reachable in 15 minutes only by foot.
