Das Team der Jugendherberge Beaufort lädt erneut zu einem Einsteiger-Workshop in Sachen
Geocaching ein. Die diesjährige Ausgabe findet am Samstag, den 19. März 2016 statt. Während diesem
Workshop lernen die Teilnehmer alles rund um das Thema Geocaching kennen. Wie findet man einen
Geocache? Wie bedient man ein Outdoor-GPS-Gerät? Was ist ein Multicache? ...
Nach dieser theoretischen Einleitung werden erste „Caches“ ermittelt, um dann am Nachmittag
selbstständig einen sogenannten Multicache zu finden. Die benötigten Geräte werden von der
Jugendherberge gestellt, eigene können aber auch gerne mitgebracht werden.
Doch um was genau handelt es sich hierbei? Geocaching ist eine moderne Schnitzeljagd mit GPSGeräten, welche Groß und Klein begeistert. Diese elektronische Schatzsuche beinhaltet die Suche nach
geheimen Verstecken, den sogenannten „Caches“. Diese Verstecke die anhand geographischer
Koordinaten gesucht und auch gefunden werden sind in der Regel Behälter, in denen sich ein Logbuch,
sowie verschiedene Tauschgegenstände befinden. Nachdem die Teilnehmer sich im Logbuch
eingetragen haben, wird der „Cache“ wieder an die gleiche Stelle zurück gelegt. Zusätzlich kann man sich
auf der dafür vorgesehenen Internetseite eintragen und ein Feedback zu diesem „Geocache“ abgeben,
ohne dabei die Fundstelle, bzw. das Versteck zu verraten. So haben dann auch andere die Möglichkeit
diesen Geocache zu suchen und auch zu finden.
Der Workshop findet statt, wenn mindestens 10 Personen angemeldet sind. Ist die Mindestteilnehmerzahl
nicht erreicht, werden Sie davon frühzeitig in Kenntnis gesetzt.

Geocaching for beginners

The youth hostel in Beaufort invites you to their annual beginners’ workshop on geocaching. This year’s

edition will take place on March 19 , 2016 and participants will learn everything there is to know about
this fascinating pastime. How do you find a geocache? How does one use a GPS device? What’s a multicache? Following a theoretical introduction to the topic, we will find our first “caches” and spend the
afternoon discovering multi-caches individually. The necessary devices will be supplied by the youth
hostel, although participants are also free to bring their own devices.
But what exactly are we dealing with here? Geocaching is a modern scavenger hunt utilising modern
technology through GPS devices, mesmerising the young and young at heart. This activity focusses on
the discovery of hidden treasures, so called “caches”. These hideouts can be located with the use of
geographical coordinates and usually consist of repositories containing a log book as well as various
objects traded among participants. Following the discovery of the cache and inscription into the log book,
the cache is then placed back in the position it was found. Additionally, participants have the possibility to
register on a supplied website and leave feedback about the geocache in question, without revealing the
location of the hideout of course. This allows future geocache enthusiasts to find and enjoy the same
treasure.
The workshop will take place if a minimum of 10 participants is reached. Should the minimum amount not
be reached, registered participants will be notified in due time.

Géocaching pour débutants

Une journée de géocaching pour débutants sera organisée à l’auberge de jeunesse Beaufort, samedi,
19 mars 2016. Durant cette journée d’initiation, le moniteur expliquera le fonctionnement et le
déroulement du géocaching. Comment utiliser un outil GPS ? Comment trouver un « cache »? Qu’est-ce
que c’est un « multicache »? …
Après cette introduction théorique, les premières « caches » sont dissimulées avant de continuer avec la
recherche d’un soi-disant « multicache ». Les appareils GPS seront mis à disposition, mais les
participants sont libres d’en apporter les leurs.
Mais qu’est-ce que c’est le géocaching ? Il s’agit d’une chasse au trésor avec GPS, qui excite jeunes et
adultes. Cette chasse au trésor électronique implique la recherche de cachettes comprenant des
contenants avec un registre de visites (« logbook ») et un ou plusieurs trésors d’échange. Après avoir
trouvé ce contenant, le géochercheur enregistre sa découverte dans le « logbook » et s’il le veut, il peut
s’inscrire sur le site dédié au « geocaching » et donner ainsi son avis sur le « cache » à d’autres
géochercheurs sans révéler la cachette du contenant.
Pour que le cours ait lieu, nous avons besoin d’au minimum 10 inscriptions. En dessous de ce minimum,
le cours ne pourra pas être dispensé et sera reporté à une date ultérieure.
