Originaire du Kazakhstan, Annya Sand est
arrivée en Grande-Bretagne à l'âge de 14
ans. Elle vit et travaille aujourd’hui à
Londres. Elle est représentée en France
par la galerie ONEIRO.

relocated to the U.K at the age of 14.
She currently lives and works in London.
Annya is represented in France by the

Issue d'une famille d'artistes avec un
père
joaillier
et
un
grand-père
architecte, elle baigne dans le milieu
artistique dès son plus jeune âge.
Born into an artist family with her
father
being
a
jeweler,
and
her
grandfather - an architect, she was
immersed into the arts from the earliest
age.
Elle choisit la peinture à l’huile comme
médium pour s’exprimer à travers un style
abstrait. Sa peinture, inspirée par le
mouvement impressionniste, se développe
en de longs aplats de couleurs aux
teintes naturelles parsemées de touches
de couleurs vives donnant une harmonie à
l’ensemble.
Annya chooses oil painting as a medium to
express herself though an abstract style.
Her works, inspired by the Impressionist
Movement, is composed of plain colours
with earthy tones topped by touches of
bright colours, creating a perfect
harmony.
Le style de ses œuvres a déjà séduit de
nombreux collectionneurs et célébrités. A
seulement 20 ans, elle vend l'une de ses
peintures à 27000 £, un record mondial
pour une artiste de cet âge.
Her works have already being appreciated
by many art collectors and celebrities.
At the age of 20, she sold one of her
paintings for £27000, a world record for
a such a young artist.
Son travail a été exposé dans plusieurs
galeries à travers le monde et dans des
institutions muséales internationales
comme le musée d’Art National de la
République
du
Kazakhstan
à
Almaty
(Kasteev State Museum of Art) et le musée
National des Beaux-arts du Kirghizistan
(Gapar Aytiev National Museum of Fine
Arts of Kyrgyzstan). Ces musées ainsi que
l’Association Internationale pour le
Développement de l’Art (IADA) ont fait
l’acquisition de certaines de ses œuvres.
Her pieces have been exhibited in
numerous galleries around the world and
at International Museums such as the
Kasteev State Museum of Arts of the
Republic of Kazakhstan and the Gapar
Aytiev National Museum of Fine Arts of
Kyrgyzstan.
These
Museums
and
the
International
Art
Development
Association (IADA) have also acquired
some of her artworks.

Annya Sand s’investit activement dans
plusieurs
associations
caritatives
auxquelles elle a fait don de ses
créations pour soutenir les enfants
hospitalisés (The Children’s Burns Trust,
The Great Ormond Street Children’s
Hospital). Son projet artistique est donc
toujours en accord avec une volonté
humaniste et son désir de rendre l’art
accessible à tous :
Annya Sand is involved in several
charities to support sick children (The
Children Burns Trust, The Great Ormond
Street Children’s Hospital) and has
donated several of her paintings to such
organizations. Her artistic project is
always consistent with a humanistic
commitment and a desire to make art
accessible to everyone:
« Mon art est très personnel et pendant
longtemps j’ai refusé de le vendre. Mais
ensuite, j’ai vu un chemin dans mes
peintures qui me conduisait à aider les
autres. D’une certaine façon, cela me
fait sentir comme mon art a un réel
pouvoir de guérison.1 »
« My art is very personal to me and for
a very long time I refused to sell it.
But then I saw a path in my paintings that
has led me to help others. In a way, it
makes me feel like my art has a real
healing power2. »
Grâce à son double héritage culturel,
elle s’applique à faire connaître l’art
oriental en Occident et tente de mettre
en lumière les rapports qui existent
entre ces deux formes d’art. En 2010,
elle met en place une collaboration entre
la Maison Christie’s à Londres et le
musée
national
du
Kazakhstan
pour
organiser l’exposition « Trésor du
Kazakhstan », révélant pour la première
fois au public londonien plus de 75
chefs-d’œuvre du Kazakhstan et de Russie
qui n’avaient jamais été présentés à
l’étranger. En 2014, pour l’Année de la
Russie en Grande-Bretagne, Annya Sand a
réalisé
des
peintures
à
l’huile
figuratives
s’inspirant de paysages
urbains et de traditions culturelles
russes3.
With her dual cultural heritage, Annya
Sand wants to bring the elements of the
Asian art into Western world, attempting
to highlight the links between these two
worlds of art. In 2010, she helped to
establish
a
collaboration
between
Christie’s in London and the National
Museum of Kazakhstan in order to organize
«Treasure of Kazakhstan». The exhibition
reveals to the London’s audience more
than 75 masterpieces of Kazakhstan and
Russian art, which had never been shown
abroad before. In 2014, to inaugurate the
Year of Russia in the U.K., Annya
exhibited a collection of oil paintings
in a figurative style, inspired by urban
landscapes and traditions of Russia4.

L’abstraction est omniprésente dans son
travail, et crée un espace où se mêlent
son propre regard sur le monde et
l’interprétation du spectateur, ouvrant
ainsi un dialogue entre l’artiste et son
public.
Abstraction is omnipresent in Sand’s
works creating a space where her own view
of the world and our own interpretation
can meet, opening up a dialogue between
the artist and the audience.
La galerie ONEIRO a choisi d’exposer
essentiellement les peintures abstraites
d’Annya Sand. Certaines proviennent de sa
précédente
collection
«
Pensée
abstraite ». La série « Le Monde des
obsessions » a été réalisée spécialement
pour l’occasion.
In this exhibit, The ONEIRO Gallery has
decided to showcase exclusively the
selection of Annya Sand’s abstract
paintings, some of which are from the
ancient collection « Abstract Thinking ».
The series « The World of Obsessions »
have been realized especially for the
occasion.

L’utilisation de la couleur est au cœur
de son travail. Les couleurs sont
subtilement mélangées et assemblées de
façon harmonieuse. Certaines de ses
œuvres présentent un fond aux tons clairs
comme l’ocre, des dégradés de beige, des
gris, avec des touches de couleurs vives
ou
foncées.
D’autres
peintures,
à
l’inverse, sont réalisées à partir d’un
fond plus sombre par-dessus lequel
l’artiste
ajoute
par
endroits
des
couleurs claires. Ainsi, Annya Sand joue
avec les effets de contrastes qui doivent
selon
elle
«
refléter
l’âme
de
l’artiste ». Elle s’intéresse également
à la matière en superposant les couches
de peintures qui donnent à la toile une
tridimensionnalité. Ces effets de matière
évoluent
en fonction de la distance
entre le tableau et le spectateur. Ce
dernier est alors happé par les formes
esquissées
et
l’expressivité
des
couleurs.
The use of the colour is at the very art
of her works. Colours are subtly and
harmoniously mixed. In some of her
paintings, the background is made up of
a variety of earthy tones, ochre, shades
of beiges and grey, then being topped
with touches of bright colours. Other
pieces, by contrast, are made on a darker
background over which light colours are
added. Through these contrasts, Annya
attempts to « reflect the soul of the
artist ». Also of interest to her are
material effects of layering colours as
means creating a thick impasto and threedimensionality effects. These textured
effects change according to the distance
between the canvas and the spectator,
thus allowing the viewers to immerse
themselves in the sketched shapes and the
expression of colours.
Dans sa nouvelle collection, « Le Monde
des obsessions », Annya utilise un
nouveau médium : l’acrylique. Cette
collection est différente des précédentes
en terme de couleurs. Elle utilise
beaucoup de blanc, ce qui donne à son
travail une luminosité et une fraîcheur.
Annya’s new collection, « The World of
Obsessions », was created in acrylic,
which was a new medium for the artist.
This collection is quite different from
her previous works in terms of colours.
She uses a lot of white, giving her work
a fresh, light feeling.
Certaines œuvres évoquent des atmosphères
oniriques comme dans Compulsion où les
touches de couleur rouge rappellent les
paysages
montagneux
des
estampes
japonaises. Dans une autre peinture, les
pointes de rose sur un fond gris bleuté
semblent figurer les fleurs des cerisiers
du Japon.
Some works depict a dream-like atmosphere
as in Compulsion where touches of red
suggest the mountainous landscapes of
Japanese engravings. In one of her
paintings, the pink colour on a bluish
grey background appears like the cherry
blossoms of a Japan tree.
Pour le tableau intitulé « Mask », Annya
Sand travaille une composition dynamique
à partir d’un fond très lisse par-dessus
lequel s’esquisse la représentation d’un
masque effrayant.

La liberté du geste de l’artiste est
telle qu’elle se dégage complétement des
contours des formes. L’absence de repères
formels et l’insistance sur les effets de
couleurs donnent à ses œuvres un
caractère d’illimité et d’infini. Grâce
aux couleurs, Annya Sand suggère une
impression de flottements évoquant les
Nymphéas bleus de Claude Monet où
l’abstrait prédomine.
The freedom of the artist’s movement is
such that it emerges from the contour of
the shapes. The absence of definitive
shapes and the emphasis of the effects of
colour in the paintings work together to
create a sense of the infinite. Some of
Annya Sand’s paintings, suggest an
impression of vacillation evoking The
Nymphéas bleus of Claude Monet.
Pour créer, l’artiste s’inspire de la
réalité
passée
et
présente,
d’une
histoire, d’une expérience vécue, qu’elle
traduit en peinture. Son œuvre est avant
tout
fondée
sur
l’instinct.
Une
« méditation personnelle » émerge du
processus de création qui nous touche et
provoque en nous des questionnements sur
notre existence.
Annya Sand is inspired by past and
present
reality,
by
a
story
and
experience that she then translates into
her paintings. Her art is primarily based
on instinct. A « personal meditation »
emerges from the creative process, which
then reaches the spectator and leaves one
to ponder about one’s own life.

énergiques et à l’atmosphère mystérieuse.
Through Sand’s works, the viewer is
invited into the artist’s own private
world

energizing
colours
and
