Die Qualitäten dieses Orchesters wusste Karajan mit seiner Programmwahl vorzüglich auszuleuchten. So bot ihm z. B. schon die langsame Einleitung der Es-­‐Dur Symphonie KV 543 die Gelegenheit, die Präzision und die Klangpracht des Orchesters zu zeigen. Eine magische Stunde erlebten die Zuhörer beim d-­‐Moll-­‐Klavierkonzert KV 466 mit Clara Haskil am Klavier. Niemals sonst hat sie den langsamen Satz so innig, so ruhig, so ausdrucksstark gespielt wie an jenem Abend. In dem langsamen Satz, über dem ein „Schauer der ewigen Schönheit“ schwebte, hat sich die Künstlerin selbst übertroffen. One of the highlights of the 1956 Mozart Week was the concert, which brought together Herbert von Karajan, Clara Haskil and the Philharmonia Orchestra London. Karajan knew how to project the qualities of the orchestra using the pieces he selected. The slow introduction of the Symphony No 39 gave him an early opportunity to demonstrate the precision and aural splendour of the orchestra. Those listening to the Piano Concerto No 20 experienced an enchanting hour with Clara Haskil at the piano. On no other occasion did she play the slow movement in such a calm and heartfelt manner so expressively, as on that evening. In the slow movement, above which hung a “frisson of eternal beauty”, the artist managed to excel herself. Un des points forts de la semaine de Mozart en 1956 fût le concert le soir du lendemain de l’anniversaire de Mozart, qui rassembla Herbert von Karajan, Clara Haskil et l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Londres. Karajan a su mettre à profit les qualités de cet orchestre dans le choix de son programme. En prime abord, la lente introduction de la Symphonie № 39 offrait une occasion parfaite pour démontrer la précision et l’excellence de l’orchestre. Les auditeurs vécurent une heure magique lors du concerto pour piano No. 20 présenté par Clara Haskil au piano.
