Biogas and bio-methane projects in Brittany and Pays de la Loire (France)
AILE realises since 2007 a map to show where biogas use is in Brittany and Pays de la Loire. The map
gives information about: location, type of biogas plant (farm, centralized, collectivity, industrial, landfill),
size of the valorisation (with a kWe equivalent for all the plants), and stage of the project (in service,
under construction, administrative and financial stage). This map is updated at least once a year.
Since 2011, we add to the map, a table with the data about biogas valorisation plants which are in
service (and only in service).
The last map has been published in September 2013. This map is in this deliverable.
Bio-Methane Regions is an opportunity to spend more times to follow the anaerobic digestion projects.
When it is possible, we follow some AD project with bio-methane valorisation.
Since May 2011, we have had many contacts. We give advices about AD and bio-methane.
Also some AD projects have made a pre-feasibility study. We have analysed these pre-feasibility and give
advices to the project owner in target to develop his project.
Some AD projects have made a feasibility study, and we have also analysed it and gives advices. When it
is possible, we participated to a meeting with the project(s) owner(s).
There are some AD plants under construction or in service, and one with bio-methane valorisation.
The monitoring report (W.P.2.1.3) in Bio-Methane Regions project is a list of the AD projects with a
collection of data. Because of the map already done for our regions, we have decided to work specifically
on bio-methane projects. In France, it is not possible to publish some data about projects owners (as
name and address). So we have decided to give some information about bio-methane project with a
map, and without any tables with details.
The target of the map is to show the evolution of the bio-methane projects (gas grid injection or fuelused). In this map, we can give the localisation of the project, its size, and its states. There are 4 stages:
in service, under construction, administrative and financial stage, or ideas.
Other information on the map: the town which have gas distribution grid (by GRDF or Sorégies; natural
gas or propane).

AILE réalise depuis 2007 un état des lieux des valorisations du biogaz en Bretagne et Pays de la Loire au
travers d’une carte. Cette carte indique : la localisation du projet, la typologie du projet (à la ferme,
centralisé, en collectivité, en industrie ou en ISDND), la puissance installée (en équivalent KW électrique
de cogénération), et l’état d’avancement du projet.
Depuis 2011, Aile a joint à la carte, un tableau qui reprend les principales données des unités de
valorisation du biogaz en fonctionnement (et seulement en fonctionnement).
La dernière carte date de janvier 2014.
Le projet Bio-Methane Regions est une opportunité pour passer plus de temps sur le suivi des projets de
méthanisation, et notamment ceux avec une valorisation en biométhane.
Depuis mai 2011 (début du projet Bio-Methane Regions), nous avons plusieurs contacts pour des
réflexions et des projets autour du biométhane.
Grâce au projet Bio-Methane Regions, nous avons réalisé une carte pour montrer l’évolution des projets
avec valorisation du biométhane en injection réseau ou carburant. Cette carte nous indique la
localisation des projets, la taille de projets et leur état d’avancement.
Par ailleurs, le fond de carte indique les communes desservies par un réseau de distribution de gaz
(naturel ou propane ; GRDF ou Sorégies). Les données sont issues :
