Examination. Use this guide to prepare you for the expectations for the assessment. Your
teacher will practice these questions with you in class. It is up to you to go home and review
your notes, textbook material, and other worksheets/guides your teacher has provided

Section I: Interpretive Communication
Task A. Audio Only (Questions 1-20)
You will listen to several audio selections. For each audio selection, follow these steps:
1. Read the directions for each task carefully.
2. Pre-read each question and its possible answers just before you listen to the audio
portion associated to that task.
3. For each question, choose the response that is best according to the audio and/or

Task B. Text and Audio Combined (Questions 21-25)
You will read one text and then watch a video selection. You will have a designated amount of
time to read the texts.
For the video selection, you will have a designated amount of time to read a preview of the
video selection as well as to skim the questions that you will be asked. The selection will be
played twice. As you listen to the selection, you may take notes. Your notes will not be scored.
After listening to the selection the first time, you will have 1 minute to begin answering the
questions; after listening to the selection the second time, you will have 15 seconds per
question to finish answering the questions. For each question, choose the response that is best
according to the audio and/or reading selection and mark your answer on your answer sheet.

Qu’est-ce que les Français aiment écouter après une très longue journée à l’école ou au
travail? Ils aiment écouter de la musique !
Les Français aiment beaucoup de genres différents comme vous. Par exemple, ils écoutent le
rap, le jazz, le rock, et surtout le pop. Les Enfoirés est un nom d’un « supergroupe » de
musiciens et de personnalités français qui ont une réunion chaque année pour enregistrer* un
album ensemble. C’est une situation vraiment unique. Les membres de ce groupe chantent
pour Restos du Cœur, une organisation qui apporte une assistance aux personnes sans assez
de nourriture*. Il y a toujours des artistes majeurs qui participent à la réunion. Par exemple,
en 2012, Bénabar, Zazie, Patrick Bruel, Grégoire, Garou, Lorie, Shy’m, Yannick Noah, Garou,
et Pascal Obispo chantent pour la bonne cause. C’est vraiment extraordinaire et super, cette
idée !
Est-ce que tu sais que les Français aiment aussi la musique pop américaine ? Il n’est pas rare
de trouver* Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, ou P!nk sur la liste des chansons populaires en
France ! La musique symbolise l’essence incroyable de la vie* !
