National Emergency Nurses Association Happy Emergency Nurses Day Sherry Uribe NENA President As we celebrate our profession this Wednesday, October 12, Emergency Nurses Day, please take a moment to say thank you – to our patients, our colleagues and of course, our families, without whom we could not do what we do every day. I am proud to be an Emergency Nurse and say thank you to all of you. NENA is proud of our members and wish each of you a great day. Members of the NENA Board of Directors wish to share a few thoughts with you: Margaret Dymond NENA Director of Education Congratulations to the ED nurses in Canada who have recently written the Canadian Emergency Nursing Certification exam. NENA has been working on a resource of study material - celebrate with ED nursing colleagues and tell them how it feels to be a certified emergency nurse Pat Mercer-Deadman RN ENC(C) NENA Director of Membership and Promotion Congratulations on Emergency Nurses Week! We are truly a force to be reckoned with and we need to shout it loud and proud! This year I would encourage each of you to 'spread the NENA word' to your friends and colleagues. I challenge you all to become active in your Provincial affiliate organization and BE THE VOICE OF EMERGENCY NURSING IN CANADA! Celebrate yourselves and your fellow Emergency Nurses on a job well done in challenging times and circumstances. Kitty Murray NENA treasurer Happy Emergency Nurses Week! Be proud that you work in such a dynamic environment. Support your colleagues this week and find some special way to celebrate in your workplace. In our department, we have a committee that is organizing a variety of "lunch and learns" for every day of the week including IVAD access, EKG interpretation made easy and disaster procedures to name a few. Stephanie Carlson NENA President Elect The best thing about Emergency Nursing is that we work with Emergency Nurses. Pulling together as a team to respond to an unexpected, urgent patient is the best of nursing. Janice L. Spivey NENA Director On our special day, Emergency Nurses Day 2016, be sure to recognize yourself, your local colleagues, and all of your provincial, national and international brothers and sisters in Emergency Nursing, for all that you do, and all that you give, every day on every shift. Congratulations!” Colleen Brayman NENA Secretary Emergency nurses are a special family - sometimes they have family disputes, but they are ALWAYS there for each other! Ashley Malarczuk NENA Director I'm excited to be celebrating Emergency Nurses Week with all of my peers. As an Emergency Nurse, you are often the first contact that a person has with the health care team in a hospital. Thank-you all for your work and dedication to patient care and safety in the challenging but rewarding emergency environment. HAVE A GREAT DAY!
