Deuxième podium consécutif pour les
PEUGEOT 208 WRX à Lydden Hill
Après un début de saison difficile, le vice-champion du Monde Timmy Hansen a enfin renoué avec le
podium, en Angleterre. A l’issue de cette quatrième manche du Championnat du Monde FIA de
Rallycross, le Team Peugeot Hansen pointe désormais à la deuxième place du classement par équipe.

Après une première manche qualificative en demi-teinte, Timmy Hansen s’est montré très régulier aux
avant-postes et s’est brillamment qualifié en demi-finale et en finale où il a signé une belle troisième place.
C’est la première fois qu’il monte sur le podium cette année.

Pour ses 18 ans, Kevin Hansen s’est offert un joli cadeau d’anniversaire. Au volant de la PEUGEOT 208 WRX
n°71 de la Peugeot Hansen Academy, le leader du Championnat d'Europe s’est en effet qualifié en finale et a
signé son meilleur résultat en Championnat du Monde avec une superbe quatrième place.

Sébastien Loeb n'a pas été épargné par les soucis en tout genre mais arrive quand même à se qualifier pour
les demi-finales où, malgré un excellent départ, il ne peut défendre ses chances à cause de coupures moteur.

« Je pense que c'est un week-end important, spécialement pour Timmy. Il était un peu à la peine lors des épreuves
précédentes mais il a réussi de très belles courses tout au long du week-end pour terminer sur le podium. C'est crucial pour
l'équipe d'avoir deux pilotes capables de se battre pour le podium. Sébastien a rencontré des problèmes techniques ce
week-end et il n'a malheureusement pas pu se qualifier pour la finale. Kevin, quant à lui a réalisé un week-end très
brillant. Une superbe célébration pour son 18e anniversaire ! Et il s'en est fallu de très peu pour que Davy ne rejoignent les
».

« C’est fantastique d’être de retour sur le podium ! Ça faisait trop longtemps que je n’avais pas connu cela. J’ai eu un
week-end plutôt fluide. Je n’avais pas tout à fait la pointe de vitesse pour aller chercher Solberg et Ekström devant. Il nous
faut encore travailler un peu pour cela. Néanmoins, ce podium a le goût d’une victoire pour moi. J’ai donné le maximum
tout au long du week-end tout comme l'équipe. Je suis ravi de goûter à nouveau à la saveur du champagne ! C’est super
que Kevin, soit juste derrière moi. C’est son meilleur résultat à ce jour et je suis vraiment fier de lui ! »

« Ce week-end n’a pas été très positif pour moi. J’ai eu beaucoup de soucis : un problème moteur dans la première manche
qualificative qui m’a placé en 17e position. Après une deuxième manche correcte, j’ai eu une crevaison dans la 3e et ils ont
mouillé la piste juste avant ma course de la 4e manche. J’ai tout de même réussi à me qualifier en demi-finale mais j’ai
rencontré à nouveau des problèmes moteur ce qui ne m’a pas permis d’accéder à la finale. Je pense que l’on a cumulé tous
les problèmes possibles, on peut donc espérer que les prochaines courses se dérouleront sans encombre ! »

« J’osais à peine rêver de me qualifier pour la finale, alors signer un tel résultat est juste super ! J’ai pris un bon départ et je
me suis retrouvé derrière Petter et Timmy. J’ai réussi à rester dans leur sillage, ce dont j’étais assez fier. Après le joker lap,
j’ai terminé quatrième juste quelques secondes derrière des leaders du championnat. C’est mon meilleur résultat en
Championnat du Monde. Difficile d’imaginer une meilleure façon de célébrer mon dix-huitième anniversaire ! »

A second consecutive podium
finish for the PEUGEOT 208 WRX
at Lydden Hill
The 2015 FIA WRX vice-champion Timmy Hansen bounced back from a tough start to the season to
claim a podium finish at Lydden Hill, Great Britain. Round 4 of the 2016 FIA World Rallycross
Championship saw Team Peugeot Hansen climb to second place in the provisional standings.

After a perfectible run in the first qualifying heat, Timmy Hansen put in a consistent performance to qualify
in brilliant fashion for the semi-finals and, ultimately, the final which he concluded in third place to secure his
first podium result of the year.

Kevin Hansen celebrated his 18th birthday by reaching the final in the N°71 PEUGEOT 208 WRX (Peugeot
Hansen Academy). The provisional European Rallycross Championship pace-setter went on to notch up his
best result at WRX level by scoring a superb fourth place.

Despite suffering a variety of woes, Sébastien Loeb succeeded in qualifying for the semi-finals but, although
he got away to a first class start, he was unable to stay in the fight because of an engine misfire.

“It turned out to be an important weekend, especially for Timmy who wasn’t really in the chase at the previous rounds.
He was in excellent form throughout the meeting at Lydden Hill, though, and he eventually bagged a top-three finish. It is
crucial for the team to have two drivers capable of fighting for the podium. Sébastien had technical problems and,
unfortunately, didn’t make it to the final. Kevin had a fantastic run which was a superb way to celebrate his 18th birthday!
And Davy came very close to joining them all in the semi-finals.”

“It’s fantastic to be back in the top three. It’s been some time since I last finished on the podium. The weekend went fairly
smoothly for me, although I didn’t quite have the speed to battle with Solberg and Ekström. We will therefore need to
keep on working but today’s result is almost like a victory for me. I gave it my all from the start of the weekend to the
finish, as did my team. It felt great to be spraying the champagne again and it was also great to see that Kevin finished
just behind me. It’s his best result to date and I am very proud of him!”

“It wasn’t a positive weekend for me because I had quite a few problems. I had engine trouble during my first qualifying
heat which dropped me to 17th position. The second heat was trouble-free but I picked up a puncture in the third one and,
for the last heat, they sprayed the track with water just before my race. I still managed to qualify for the semi-finals but I
had engine trouble again, so I didn’t make it to the final. I think we must have clocked up all the problems you can
imagine. Let’s hope we have a clean run next time.”

“I didn’t dare to dream of reaching the final so it’s just fantastic to have come away with such a strong result! I got off to a
good start and found myself behind Petter and Timmy. I managed to stay in their slipstream, so I was quite proud of that.
After may joker lap, I ended up fourth, just a few seconds adrift of the championship’s leaders. It’s my best result in the
world championship to date. I don’t think there could have been a better way to celebrate turning 18!”

Les PEUGEOT 208 WRX en chasse
en Angleterre !
Galvanisés par la belle seconde place conquise par Sébastien Loeb en Belgique, les pilotes
des PEUGEOT 208 WRX abordent avec un cœur de lion leur incursion en terre britannique.
C’est en effet sur la piste de Lydden Hill que se disputera les 28 et 29 mai prochains la
quatrième manche du Championnat du monde FIA de Rallycross 2016.

Après avoir retrouvé le podium en Belgique, le Team Peugeot Hansen entend bien amplifier son
élan à Lydden Hill. Actuellement troisième au championnat par équipes, le commando francosuédois visera sa première victoire de la saison et tentera de gagner une position au classement
général.

Lydden Hill est considéré comme le berceau du rallycross. C’est en effet sur cette piste du Kent
qu’a eu lieu la première course de rallycross le 4 février 1967.

Parallèlement au Team Peugeot Hansen, la Peugeot Hansen Academy alignera deux PEUGEOT
208 WRX : la #17 pour Davy Jeanney, engagé sur 10 courses du Championnat du Monde FIA de
Rallycross, et la #71 pour Kevin Hansen qui, bien qu’engagé en Euro RX et actuel leader, continue
d’acquérir de l’expérience en roulant sur certaines manches du Championnat du Monde.

« J’aime beaucoup Lydden Hill qui fait partie des pistes rapides sur lesquelles il est possible d’exploiter tout le
potentiel d’une voiture comme la PEUGEOT 208 WRX. Je sais qu’elle convient bien à nos pilotes Timmy,
Davy et Kevin et je suis sûr que Sébastien, avec son expérience des circuits asphalte, s’y adaptera rapidement.
Etant donné que le joker-lap se trouve au premier virage, il nous faudra adapter les stratégies en fonction de
ce paramètre. Nous nous battrons pour la victoire. Nous avons montré récemment que nous avions la vitesse
et nous sommes déterminés à franchir une étape supplémentaire ».

« C’est sûr qu’après le podium de Mettet, j’aborde la course de Lydden Hill avec une forte motivation.
L’objectif est de continuer à être dans le coup et d’évoluer dans le peloton de tête même si je vais devoir
découvrir la piste de Lydden Hill. J’ai pu constater à Mettet que lorsque l’on a une bonne place de départ, ça
change la vie. Un week-end de course peut basculer tellement vite ! J’espère que le meeting de Lydden Hill se
déroulera bien de ce point de vue ».

« Les courses précédentes ont été plutôt difficiles pour moi et j’espère vraiment entamer une série plus
positive. Je sais que j’ai la pointe de vitesse pour cela. Et puis Lydden Hill est une de mes pistes préférées.
J’aime ses longues courbes et le rythme fluide que requiert son tracé. Le premier virage est, selon moi, l’un
des plus intéressants de toute la saison. Il est en terre avec un petit passage en asphalte. Il est vraiment
très sympa à négocier. Je pense que c’est une piste qui convient bien à la PEUGEOT 208 WRX ainsi qu’à
mon style de pilotage. J’y ai de bons souvenirs. C’est sur cette piste que j’ai disputé ma première course en
tant que pilote de Rallycross à plein temps. J’avais terminé sur le podium et j’espère qu’il en sera de même
cette semaine. »

A PROPOS DU RALLYCROSS
Les épreuves de rallycross se disputent sur des tracés mixtes, 60% terre et 40% asphalte. Ils sont longs
d’environ 1 kilomètre et parfois parsemés de sauts. Les pilotes sont progressivement éliminés au cours du
week-end et seuls les six compétiteurs les plus rapides et les plus téméraires ont la possibilité de se battre
pour la finale.

Four PEUGEOT 208 WRXs on the
prowl at Lydden Hill
Boosted by Sébastien Loeb’s encouraging second place in Belgium, the four PEUGEOT 208
WRX drivers are looking forward to the visit to Great Britain where Lydden Hill will host
round four of the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship on May 28-29.

After finding its way back onto the podium in Mettet, Belgium, Team Peugeot Hansen will be
looking to keep the momentum going as the championship moves on to Lydden Hill. The FrancoSwedish operation is currently third in the Teams’ standings and is targeting its first victory of the
season in its bid to move further up the provisional leaderboard.

Lydden Hill, Kent, is viewed as the home of rallycross. It was here that the first ever rallycross
meeting was held on February 4, 1967.

In parallel to Team Peugeot Hansen’s two cars, Peugeot Hansen Academy will have two
PEUGEOT 208 WRXs at Lydden Hill. The #17 car will be in the hands of Davy Jeanney, who has a
programme of 10 world championship rounds this season, while the #71 car will allow Kevin
Hansen to continue to gain experience at world championship level in addition to his campaign in
the European Rallycross Championship which he currently tops.

potential of a car like the PEUGEOT 208 WRX. I know it’s a venue that suits Timmy, Davy and Kevin, and I

adapt our strategy to the fact that the Joker Lap veers off at Turn 1. We are determined to up our game a

your weekend can tip one way or the other very quickly. I hope Lydden Hill goes well from that point of view.”

“The early races have been pretty hard for me, so I hope Lydden Hill will mark the start of a more positive
spiral. I know we have the speed for that to happen and this is one of my favourite circuits. I always enjoy its
sweeping corners and the flowing rhythm it calls for. For me, Turn 1 is one of the most interesting corners of
the season. It’s on gravel, with a brief portion of asphalt. I love it. It’s a track that suits both the PEUGEOT
208 WRX and my driving style, and I’ve got some fond memories of my previous visits. It’s here that I
competed for the first time as a full-time rallycross driver. I finished on the podium and I’m hoping history will
repeat itself this time round!”

(from 2pm, Sunday, May 29) will be broadcast live in France by L’Equipe 21, in
Sweden by SVT and in Great Britain by Quest TV.
ABOUT RALLYCROSS
Rallycross events use mixed-surface dirt/asphalt circuits of about one kilometre in length and can feature one
or more jumps. The drivers are knocked out as the weekend progresses and only the six fastest and bravest of
them get to contest the final.
