Wine is nothing more than fermented grape juice, but somehow that transformation turns it into heavenly stuff! Our wine list is dedicated to the hands on makers, the small growers, the crazies and the fanatics. It is filled with varieties you’ve not necessarily seen (let alone pronounced!) and producers that are unknown. What you should know is that every wine has been picked to be on this list for a good reason. Every bottle, we believe, has a story to tell, be it about the place, the grape or the winemaker. This list is not meant to be a catalogue of trophy wines & great old vintages; there are plenty of those lists already. What we want you to take away is the experience of trying something that is both new and accessible. Having said all that, we do admit that our tastes can be eclectic, and life is too short to drink bad juice. So if you don’t like what’s in your glass then let us know, the bottle won’t go to waste! (And I mean the first glass, not the last one!) By the taste, glass or flask and over 200 bottles we should be able to find the good juice for you. So, who needs a glass of wine? AMBER ALERT! AMBER ALERT! AMBE Orange (or Amber) wines, probably the most talked about, controversial wines of recent times. Which makes me laugh. If they make up 0.5% of wine production in Australia I'll eat the leftover skins! So, what the .... are they? Well, they’re not made from oranges and not from Orange (though they could be). They're white wines made with extended skin contact in a similar way to the way we make red wines. This extended time on skins can run for a few weeks up to almost a year depending on the producer. This gives the wines their hue and thus the name. It is in fact the way all white wines were originally made. Frank is truly nuts when it comes to how he makes his wine. Total disregard for the scriptures of what is right or wrong when making wine. Yet truly passionate about trying to produce the best wine he can, that sings of it's place in the world. His vines grow untethered, grapes are picked by hand, other fruits and vegetables are planted throught his vineyards. Nothing is added nor taken out in the prduction of the wines. His wines, for me, are as close to wild produced as is MunJebel Bianco 9 possible. I hope you see what I see within them! 165 MunJebel Rosso 9 165 MunJebel Rosso 8 MC 170 MunJebel Rosso 9 CS 185 MunJebel Rosso 9 VA 185 100% Nerello Mascalese, blend of all his individual vineyard sites. 1st time a single vintage! MC - Monte Colla Vineyard. Planted between 1946-1948 and running from 740m800m elevation. A steep terraced vineyard, producing a deep brooding style. CS - Chiusa Spagnolo Vineyard. Plantedin 1930's as ungrafted vines at a relatively low altitude of 630m. Surronded by lavaflow rock which accentuates the tannins. VA - Vigne Alta. High Vineyard Cru. Produced from Frank's 3 highest ungrafted vineyards, contrada Tartaraci, contrada Barbabecchi & contrada Monte Dolce. Always a complex and long wine. 2012 was unsually bige and deeply coloured.
