Ite missa est
A superimposition of fifteen plainsong melodies from the Liber usualis,
each to be sung at the end of the Ordinarium missæ
in feasts at various times of the liturgical year,
for twelve-part chorus (SSMMAATTRRBB) a cappella
Ite missa est,
Deo gratias.
The mass is ended,

Performance note: This work is to be performed from the lowest voices upward. Beginning with B2, each choral section enters at the asterisk (*) that comes after the section below
has sung its entire first phrase. Each section sings its line 12 times: for the odd-numbered times, sing "Ite missa est," for the even-numbered times, sing "Deo gratias."
At the end of the twelfth time, sustain the final "a" of "gratias" (the tied half note) as a drone until the end of the piece. Stagger breathe within each section.
