millions of record sales worldwide, and
thousands of sold out performances, rock
blues icon Robert Cray is considered “one
of the greatest guitarists of his generation.”
Rolling Stone Magazine in their April 2011
issue credits Cray with reinventing the
blues with his “distinct razor sharp guitar
playing” that “introduced a new generation
of mainstream rock fans to the language
and form of the blues” with the release of
his Strong Persuader album in 1986.
Since then, Cray has gone on to record fifteen Billboard charting studio
albums and has written or performed with everyone from Eric Clapton
to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker. Recently
inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame at the age of 57, he is one of the
youngest living legends to receive the prestigious honor. And while he
can look back over an astonishing three-decade career punctuated by his
trademark sound and distinct playing style, Robert Cray is too busy moving
forward on an amazing journey that has him releasing his seventeenth studio
album due out April 2014 and embarking on yet another world tour.

Being the blues singing daughter of B.B.
King has earned Shirley King the title
“Daughter of the Blues,” but she is an
outstanding singer and performer in her
own right.
Her father’s career exposed her to the
company of great singers. Born and raised
in Memphis, Shirley began singing in the
church choir at age nine. When she was 13 she met another music legend – Etta James. Young Shirley was so impressed by Etta’s
performance that she made Etta her musical role model. Ruth Brown and
the late Mahalia Jackson also greatly influenced the fledgling singer. Shirley
has sung at major blues clubs and festivals worldwide. She toured the U.S.,
Canada, Italy, France and Iceland as “The Daughter of the Blues.” She has
performed with B.B. King, Bobby Bland, Albert King, Little Milton, Tyrone
Davis, Otis Clay, Jerry Butler, Koko Taylor, Lonnie Brooks, Eddie Clearwater,
Billy Branch and many others.
She has also worked with kids as an artist-in-residence with the highly acclaimed Urban Gateways Arts in the Schools Program at Chicago Public
Schools, and continues to expose school children to the history blues has
played in American culture. Shirley always rocks the house whether it’s a
museum, on-campus performance, fest or nightclub.

Lloyd Jones is a master of the soulful
understatement, the raw growl, and the
groove. From his roots in muddy Oregon
soil, he’s forged a 30-plus-year career as an
impassioned singer and fierce guitar slinger,
a clever and soulful songwriter, a bandleader,
record producer, and an almost strident
torchbearer for all that’s true and good about
America’s music. Jones is his own true artist who works diligently at pushing
American roots music forward.

One of the most powerful artists on the blues scene, Shawn Pittman has it
covered on every level: singer, guitarist, songwriter, performer, and producer.
Born in 1974 in Talahina, Oklahoma, the then-capital of the Choctaw Nation,
and raised outside Oklahoma City, in Norman, Pittman
got an early start in music. Inspired by the boogiewoogie piano stylings of his grandmother, and by his
grandfather’s guitar picking, Shawn took up piano at
age eight, following that with the drums, before concentrating on guitar at 14. Introduced to the blues by
lifelong friend Bracken Hale, who to this day remains a
regular co-writer, Pittman quickly progressed through
Jimmy Reed’s rhythmic foundations to Albert King’s
lead guitar style, along the way absorbing the approaches of touchstone artists like Magic Sam, Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Muddy
Waters, Hubert Sumlin, Jimmy Rogers, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Frankie Lee Sims,
the Vaughan Brothers, and Albert Collins. He can also discuss and reproduce
the styles – and the dustier corners of the catalogs – of such artists as Lowell
Fulson, Jerry McCain, Lazy Lester, Robert Nighthawk, Chuck Berry, Hound
Dog Taylor, and Ike Turner.
