Quelques breves notions interressantes sur Alpbach

Obwohl der Name Alpbach erst im Jahre 1150 erstmals
urkundlich erwähnt wird, erfolgte die Besiedlung bereits
vor und um die Jahrtausendwende durch die Bajuwaren.
Im Jahre 1860 fand man am Steinberger Joch (Übergang ins Zillertal) eine Bronzeaxt und die Vermutung ist
daher naheliegend, dass dieser Übergang schon vor
der Hallstatt-Zeit begangen wurde.
Die Christianisierung erfolgte im 7. und 8. Jahrhundert
durch irische und schottische Mönche. Der Patron der
Pfarrkirche (Turm aus dem Jahre 1440, Hauptschiff
1754) ist der Heilige Oswald, ein ehemaliger König von
Northumbria in England.
Zu Beginn des 15. Jahrhunderts fand man am Gratl­
spitz, Schatzberg und im Luegergraben Kupfer- und
Silbererz. Die Handelsfamilie der Fugger aus Augsburg
betrieb damals den Erzabbau in Schwaz und Kitzbühel
und übernahm diesen auch im Alpbachtal. Der Böglerhof war der Sitz der fuggerischen Verwaltung und des
Berggerichtes. Zwei Wirtshäuser gab es bereits
damals, den "Böglerhof" und den "Jakober", letzteren
nur als Branntwein-Schenke. Wegen des zu geringen
Ertrages wurde der Bergbau in der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts eingestellt.
In Inneralpbach, oberhalb der kleinen Kirche, steht am
Waldrand der 1636 bis 1638 von heimischen Zimmerleuten erbaute, bis 1952 bewohnte Bauernhof "VorderUnterberg" mit dem Bergbauernmuseum (nur im Sommer). Bauernstube, Hauskapelle, Rauchkuchl und etwa
800 Einrichtungs- und Gebrauchsgegenstände sind
hier zu besichtigen.
Aufgrund der Abgeschlossenheit (eine Fahrstraße am
Talboden nach Alpbach gibt erst seit 1926) entstand
eine eigene Bau- und Wohnkultur (Alpbacher Bauernmöbel), aber auch das Brauchtum blieb deshalb länger
erhalten als in vielen anderen Tälern des Landes.
Tourismus gibt es seit der Jahrhundertwende. Im Jahre
1938 verzeichnete Alpbach bereits 110 Gästebetten.
Heute sind es rund 2.500 Betten mit ca. 22.000 Gästen
im Sommer und etwa der gleichen Anzahl im Winter
(rund 300.000 Gesamtnächtigungen pro Jahr). Der Tourismus ist der Haupterwerb der heimischen Bevölkerung (2.300 Einwohner), doch noch immer gibt es 105
bewirtschaftete Bauernhöfe, in etwa gleich viele wie vor
100 Jahren.

Im Jahre 1975 stellte das Österreichische Institut für
Gesundheitswesen in Alpbach die reinste Luft Österreichs fest.
Im August 1983 wurde Alpbach in einem Fernsehwettbewerb des ORF aufgrund des einheitlichen Holzbaustils und des Blumenschmuckes zum "Schönstes Dorf
Österreichs" gewählt.
Im Juni 1985 wurde der Gemeinde Alpbach vom
Europarat in Strassburg in Anerkennung der Verdienste
um die Förderung des europäischen Gedankens die
Europafahne verliehen.
Im August 1993 erhielt Alpbach im Rahmen des europäischen Blumenschmuckwettbewerbes der "Entente
Florale" den Titel "Schönstes Blumendorf Europas"
verliehen.
Im August 1999 wurde das neue Congress Centrum
Alpbach gleichzeitig mit dem 55. Europäischen Forum
Alpbach eröffnet. Mit seiner genialen, naturnahen
Architektur setzt das Kongressdorf einen besonderen
Akzent für die Jahrtausendwende. Ein Plenarsaal mit
500 Sitzplätzen und fünf Seminarräume für 20 bis
200 Personen sowie großzügige Foyers und ein CaféRestaurant bilden das Raumangebot. Herzstück des
Hauses ist eine Glasspirale, die einen einzigartigen
Panoramablick ermöglicht.

At the beginning of the 15th century, deposits of copper
and silver were discovered on Gratlspitz and Schatzberg and in the Luegergraben. At the time, the Fugger
merchant family from Augsburg had control over mining
operations in Schwaz and Kitzbühel, and they extended
their activities to include the Alpbach Valley.
The Böglerhof housed the Fugger offices and was also
the seat of the Mining Court. In those days Alpbach
already had two inns, the Böglerhof and also the Jakober Inn, where the men went to drink spirits. By the
middle of the 19th century, productivity at the mines had
declined to the stage where they had to be closed.
Vorder-Unterberg Farm, which was built in 1636-1638 by
local carpenters and was lived in until 1952, stands at the
edge of the forest above the little church in Inner­alpbach.
Today the historical building is a mountain farming
museum (only in Summer), and the exhibits include the
old parlour, the chapel, a combined kitchen and smokehouse, and about 800 artefacts of daily life and work.
The road leading up the valley to Alpbach was not built
until 1926, and the isolated location of the village led to
the development of a distinctive style of architecture
and furnishings, and also enabled the local folk traditions to be preserved for much longer than in most of the
valleys of the Tyrol.
The first tourists arrived in Alpbach at the turn of the century, and by 1938 the resort had accommodation for 110
visitors. In the meantime the figure has increased to
about 2,500 and Alpbach now attracts some 22,000 visitors in summer and about the same number in winter for
an annual total of 300,000 bed nights. Tourism is the
main source of income for today’s 2,300 local residents,
but there are still 105 working farms in Alpbach, about

The first conference hall in Alpbach was built in the midfifties and named after the Austrian poetess Paula
von Preradovic, who wrote the words for the Austrian
national anthem. The plenary hall was named after the
physicist and Nobel Prize-winner Erwin Schrödinger,
who lies buried in the Alpbach cemetery.
At the suggestion of Alfons Moser, Mayor of Alpbach
from 1945 to 1979, the Council issued a local planning
bylaw in 1953, which made the traditional style of architecture in Alpbach mandatory for all new buildings.
In 1975 the Austrian Public Health Institute certified that
Alpbach had the purest air in the whole of Austria.
In a contest organised by Austrian Television in 1983,
Alpbach was voted "Austria’s Most Beautiful Village”
for the harmony of its timber buildings and its fine floral
decorations.
In June 1985, the Council of Europe in Strasbourg conferred on Alpbach the right to fly the official European
flag in recognition of the community’s services to the
cause of European unity.
In the 1993 Entente Florale competition, Alpbach won
the Most Beautiful Floral Village in Europe Award.
In August 1999, the new Alpbach Congress Centre
was opened together with the 55th Alpbach European
Forum. With its combination of exciting architecture
and minimum environmental footprint, the facility sets
the stage for the new millennium. The centre has a
plenary hall with seating for 500 attendees as well as
five meeting halls and committee rooms for between 20
and 200 persons, plus spacious foyers and a fine coffee
shop and restaurant. The main architectural feature is a
spiral-shaped gallery with floor-to-ceiling glazing for a
unique view of the spectacular mountain backcloth.

Forum europeo di Alpbach, è stato inaugurato il nuovo
Centro congressuale di Alpach, che agli albori del
nuovo millennio si mette in luce volutamente con la sua
geniale architettura integrata nella natura. Il Centro
congressuale dispone di una sala per le sedute plenarie dotata di 500 posti a sedere, 5 sale per seminari che
possono ospitare dalle 20 alle 200 persone, ampi
foyers e un caffè-ristorante. Il nucleo dell’edificio è
costituito da una spirale di vetro da cui si può godere
di un panorama straordinario.

A Inneralpbach, sopra la chiesetta, sul limitare del
bosco sorge la fattoria "Vorder-Unterberg”. Costruita da
carpentieri del posto fra il 1636 e il 1638, questa fattoria fu abitata fino al 1952 e oggi ospita il Museo dei contadini di montagna (aperto durante l´estate). Vi si possono visitare la "Stube”, la cucina, la cappella privata e
circa 800 oggetti d’arredamento e d’uso comune.

Agli inizi del 15° secolo si rinvennero minerali di rame
e argento al Gratlspitz, allo Schatzberg e nel Luegergraben. I Fugger, una famiglia di mercanti di Augusta
che a quei tempi esercitava l’attività mineraria a
Schwaz e Kitzbühel, rilevarono anche i giacimenti
minerari dell’Alpbachtal. Il "Böglerhof” fungeva da sede
amministrativa dei Fugger e da tribunale minerario. Già
a quei tempi esistevano due locande, denominate
"Böglerhof” e "Jakober”, quest’ultima fungeva unicamente da osteria per la mescita di acquavite. L’attività
mineraria cessò alla metà del 19° secolo a causa
dell’esigua redditività.
Il turismo mosse i suoi primi passi alle soglie del secolo
scorso. Nel 1938 Alpbach poteva già contare su 110
posti letto. Oggi Alpbach dispone di ca. 2.500 posti letto
e vanta ca. 22.000 ospiti in estate e all’incirca lo stesso
numero in inverno (ca. 300.000 pernottamenti com­
plessivi annui). Il turismo è la principale fonte di reddito
della popolazione locale (2.300 abitanti), tuttavia vi
sono ancora 105 fattorie funzionanti, pressapoco lo
stesso numero di 100 anni fa.

La cristianizzazione avvenne nel 7° e 8° secolo da
parte di monaci irlandesi e scozzesi. Il patrono della
chiesa parrocchiale (la torre campanaria risale al 1440,
la navata centrale è del 1754) è S. Osvaldo, un tempo
re di Northumbria in Inghilterra.

congrès d’Alpbach en même temps que le 55e Forum
européen d’Alpbach. De par son architecture géniale
et authentique, ce village de congrès donne une
orientation originale pour le nouveau millénaire. On y
dispose d’une salle plénière de 500 places assises, de
cinq salles de séminaires pouvant contenir de 20 à 200
personnes ainsi que de foyers spacieux et d’un café
restaurant. L’attraction en est une spirale en verre d’où
l’on jouit d’une vue panoramique exceptionnelle.

Nel 1860 fu rinvenuta un’ascia di bronzo allo Steinberger Joch (il passo che conduce nello Zillertal) e si
presume quindi che questo valico venisse percorso già
prima del periodo noto come civiltà di Hallstatt.
A causa dell’isolamento, (la carrozzabile per Alpbach
sul fondovalle esiste solo dal 1926) si formò una cultura architettonica ed abitativa propria (mobili rustici di
Alpbach) e anche gli usi e i costumi si conservarono più
a lungo che in molte altre valli della regione.

Notizie interessanti su Alpbach in breve
Sebbene il nome Alpbach sia documentato per la
prima volta solo nel 1150, la colonizzazione ad opera
dei Bavari ebbe luogo già prima dell’anno Mille e sul
vol­gere del millennio.

Du fait de son isolement (une route dans le fond de la
vallée en direction d’Alpbach n’existe que depuis 1926),
ce village a non seulement son propre style architectu-ral et un style d’habitation spécifique (meubles
rustiques d’Alpbach) mais a aussi su de ce fait perpétuer ses traditions bien plus longtemps que la plupart des
autres vallées de la région.
En 1975, l’Institut autrichien d’hygiène et de santé
publique constata qu’Alpbach bénéficiait de l’air le
plus pur d’Autriche.

A Inneralpbach, au-dessus de la petite église, se dresse la ferme «Vorder-Unterberg» construite de 1636 à
1638 en bordure de la forêt par des charpentiers locaux
et habitée jusqu’en 1952. Elle abrite le musée des
paysans de montagne (ouvert en été). On peut y visiter
la salle lambrissée de bois, la chapelle particulière, la
cuisine fumoir et environ 800 objets d’équipement et
d’usage courant.
C’est sur l’initiative du conseiller commercial Alfons
Moser, maire d’Alpbach de 1945 à 1979 que le conseil
municipal statua, en 1953, sur les prescriptions
applicables à la construction et décréta l’adaptation
des nouvelles constructions au style architectural
traditionnel d’Alpbach.

Au début du 15e siècle, on trouva du minerai de cuivre
et d’argent au Gratlspitz, au Schatzberg et dans le Luegergraben. Les Fugger, une famille de commerçants
d’Augsbourg, s’adonna jadis à l’exploitation de minerai
à Schwaz et Kitzbühel et reprit également cette activité
dans la vallée Alpbachtal. La ferme «Böglerhof» était le
siège de l’administration des Fugger et de la juridiction
minière. A l’époque déjà il existait deux auberges: le
«Böglerhof» et le «Jakober», ce dernier uniquement en
tant que débit d’eaux-de-vie. On cessa l’exploitation des
mines vers le milieu du 19e siècle parce que ce n’était
pas suffisamment rentable.
Le premier palais des congrès fut construit vers le milieu
des années cinquante et fut dénommé d’après la
femme poète Paula von Preradovic. C’est elle qui
écrivit les paroles de l’hymne national. La salle plénière
porte le nom du physicien et Prix Nobel Prof. Erwin
Schrödinger dont la tombe se trouve dans le cimetière
d’Alpbach.

La christianisation se fit aux 7e et 8e siècles par des
moines irlandais et écossais. Le saint patron de l’église
paroissiale (clocher datant de 1440, nef principale de
1754) est saint Oswald, un ancien roi de Northumbria
en Angleterre.
Alpbach est, depuis 1945, le lieu de déroulement du
«Forum européen d’Alpbach». En août, le village est
chaque année deux semaines durant le lieu de rencontre de personnalités notoires issues de la politique, de
l’économie, des sciences et de la culture. Ce forum et
les personnalités ayant marqué leur époque, valurent à
Alpbach de porter également le nom de «village des
penseurs».

Über Initiative von Kommerzialrat Alfons Moser, Alpbacher Bürgermeister von 1945 bis 1979, beschloss der
Gemeinderat im Jahre 1953 die örtliche Bauordnung
und verordnete bei Neubauten die Anpassung an den
hergebrachten Alpbacher Baustil.

Das erste Kongresshaus wurde Mitte der FünfzigerJahre erbaut und ist nach der Dichterin Paula von
Preradovic benannt; sie schrieb den Text für die
österreichische Bundeshymne. Der Plenarsaal trägt
den Namen des Physikers und Nobelpreisträgers Prof.
Erwin Schrödinger, dessen Grab sich auf dem Alpbacher Friedhof befindet.

Seit dem Jahr 1945 ist Alpbach der Tagungsort des
"Europäischen Forum Alpbach". Für zwei Wochen im
August ist das Dorf alljährlich Treffpunkt führender Persönlichkeiten aus Politik, Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und
Kultur. Durch das Forum und seine die Zeit prägenden
Persönlichkeiten wird Alpbach auch als "Dorf der
Denker" bezeichnet.

and local history. A natural Kneipp facility, children’s play area and barbecue facility await you.
Pass the „Alpbacher Hof” - small pond - turn right at the fork - cross the bridge „Mühlbach” - turn
left - „Mühlbach” path - „Mühlei” - „forest path” A3 - along the stream „Höslbach” - „Lärchen”
