Drought In Sahel Region, West Africa:
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace
have announced a joint campaign to respond to the serious food shortage and drought in the Sahel region of West
Africa. Fifteen million people face food shortages and malnutrition. Development and Peace, in partnership with
Caritas Internationalis and its emergency programs, is helping local Western African community groups cope with the
effects of the food crisis by supporting large-scale food distribution. Funds will be collected at the parish level and
forwarded to CCODP to ensure a timely response to this situation. If making a donation, please make cheques
payable to your parish with memo: Sahel Drought. For income tax receipt purposes, please include on your
envelope: your name, address, phone number. Along with the funds, prayers are urgently needed at this time for
victims and their families. Your prayers, generosity and assistance are greatly appreciated. For more information

St. Joseph-St. Charles Parish is celebrating its 150 anniversary this year with a number of events. The parish hopes
that everyone who is or has been a member of this parish will join in this historic milestone and join in the celebrations:
July 15 - a Parish Picnic will celebrate families that were ever members of this parish. Sept. 16 - Mass celebrated by
