BACKGROUND:
Two-time Olympian, David Bissett, makes his return to the Canada 1 sled for the
first time since teaming up with Lyndon Rush to win Canada’s first Olympic
bobsleigh four-man medal in 40 years at the Vancouver-Whistler Games in 2010.
Team Rush celebrated the bronze medal at the Whistler Sliding Centre.
One of the top brakemen in the country, David has pushed Pierre Lueders and
Lyndon Rush’s four-man and two-man sleds to countless World Cup and World
Championship podium finishes during his short career.
David honed his athletic power and strength in his years competing with the
University of Alberta's football team. His quick speed on the field or icy tracks
around the world was developed as a member of his university’s track team, while
competing in the 60m sprint.
PARCOURS DANS LE SPORT:
Le double athlète olympique David Bissett retourne dans le bob Canada 1 pour la
première fois depuis le moment où il avait glissé avec Lyndon Rush vers la première
médaille olympique depuis 40 ans pour le Canada en bobsleigh à quatre, aux Jeux
de 2010 à Vancouver-Whistler. Équipe Rush a décroché la médaille de bronze au
Centre des sports de glisse de Whistler.
L’un des meilleurs freins au pays, David a aidé à pousser les équipages de
bobsleigh à deux et de bobsleigh à quatre de Pierre Lueders et de Lyndon Rush vers
d’innombrables podiums de Coupe du Monde et de Championnat du Monde, ceci
dans une durée relativement courte dans le sport.

David a perfectionné son pouvoir et son conditionnement physique au fil de sa
carrière dans l’équipe de football de l’Université de l’Alberta. La vitesse dont il fait
preuve sur le terrain de jeu comme sur la piste de glace s’est développée quand il
représentait l’université en athlétisme, se spécialisant au sprint de 60m.
