IGDR seminar series INSTITUTE OF GENETICS AND DEVELOPMENT OF RENNES Dr. Michael Young The Rockefeller University New York, USA Genes controlling sleep and circadian rhythms Campus Villejean, Building 2, Amphitheatre A Monday, April 14, 2014 - 11:00 Dr. Michael Young is the Richard and Jeanne Fisher Professor and the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Rockefeller University, New York, USA. His work focuses on the molecular mechanisms that control circadian, or daily, rhythms. Using the fruit fly as a model system, pioneering studies in his laboratory identified the conserved genes and pathways that establish biological clocks, findings which have had important implications on human health. Among his many honors are the 2012 Canada Gairdner International Award, the 2013 Shaw Prize in Life Science and Medicine, and the 2013 Wiley Prize in Biomedical Science.
