Research experience/achievements
My research is in the field of cognitive psychology and particularly musical
expertise during sight-reading. This complex cognitive activity requires simultaneous
perceptive (visual, auditory) and motor information integration. During my thesis and my
post-doc positions I have acquired expertise in eye tracking technique to investigate
musical cognition and also EEG/EFRP experience to investigate multimodal cognitive
processing. Eye tracking allowed me to evaluate the role of perceptual and motor cues
noted on the score during ecologic reading. I have investigated in an exploratory way the
encoding and retrieval information in memory for expert and non-expert musicians,
manipulating visual, auditory and visuo-motor cues. A multimodal integration seems to
be the characteristic of expert musicians due to the construction of an expert memory.
These findings need to be investigated with fMRI technique and it is my project.
