PIERRE DELAGE, BAILLI RÉGIONAL, BAILLIAGE DE L'OUTAOUAIS
It is with much sadness that we
announce that Bailli Régional
Pierre Delage passed away
peacefully at his home on
Saturday April 19, aged 75.
Lawyer, wine connoisseur,
sommelier professor and Bailli
Régional, Bailliage de
l'Outaouais, Pierre is survived by
his life partner of 28 years, Lucie
Dion, legal expert. Born in Montréal in 1939, Pierre
Delage was the son of the late Yvette Jutras and the late
Gérard Delage, well-known Canadian epicure. He also
leaves his children Esther (Brad Landon), Louis-Philippe
(Isabelle Parrot), Isabelle (Maxwell Hollins) and the
mother of his children Françoise Gaulin, as well as five
grandsons, Philip and Eric Hollins, Marc-Antoine, Simon
and Charles Delage. He will also be missed by his sisters,
Niquette Delage (Jacques Beauregard), Jocelyne, the late
Lison (Philip Creery); his brothers, Yves and Michel
(Louise Prud'homme); as well as his nieces and nephews,
Danielle and Gaëlle Beauregard, Pascal and Joëlle
Messier, Patrick and Cybelle Creery, Alexandrina and
Olivier Delage. He leaves the great family of the Chaîne
des Rôtisseurs - in particular, the members and his fellow
officers of the Outaouais Bailliage of the Chaîne, his
students in the sommelier program at the Cité collégiale
and numerous family and friends.
Pierre held a Bachelor of Political Science and a
Licentiate in Laws from the University of Ottawa, as well
as a graduate certificate in the latter discipline. He was a
member of the Barreau du Québec from 1966 until his
retirement. As a lawyer, he litigated for a number of years
in labour law for the Treasury Board of Canada, was
Director General of Appeals at the Public Service
Commission of Canada and was Legal Counsel to the
Commission for Public Complaints Against the Royal
Canadian Mounted Police. An avid music lover, in
retirement, he was the legal counsel to the Friends of the
National Arts Centre Orchestra.
Shortly before his passing, Pierre left a few words for
his friends in the Chaine:
“Dear friends and members of the Chaîne,
It is not without regret that I must announce my
resignation as Bailli. Health conditions force me to act as
such. In so doing, I wish to thank all of you for your
support during my mandate.
I also wish to thank the members of our team who, by
their devoutness to the cause, have breathed new energy
to our Bailliage. Great thanks, therefore, to Marie-Ève
Coupal-Place, the Vice-Chancelière who, by her entrain,
her good humour and her constant desire to help has
rendered my task much easier. Thanks, as well to our
Vice-Conseiller gastronomique, Jean-Guy Gorley, who
has been full of resources to find new places so as to
satisfy our gastronomical wishes, and who has a number
of surprises for us this year. Thanks as well to Denise
Gélinas, our Chef de mission, who has contributed to the
organization of our events, and has acted as Secretary of
our Bureau during our business meetings and who
authored those impeccable minutes. I also wish to bring
to the fore the terrific contribution of Chef Blain, our
Vice-Conseiller culinaire who, with his experience and his
great wisdom was most helpful in the preparation of our
events. Thanks as well to Louise Beaulne, our ViceÉchanson, who, as a Sommelière helped us with her
judicious counsel in matters of wines. Great thanks, as
well, to Patrice Basille, our Vice-Chef de mission who was
very instrumental in the good work of our Bailliage by his
good humour and his desire to innovate, and who followed
through in that regard by hosting in the Perspective
restaurant of the elegant Brookstreet hotel some very
original menus for us. Finally, thanks to Victor Ferreira,
our other Vice-Chef de mission and grand hotelier, before
he retired for his greta contribution to the administration
of our Bailliage. Thanks as well to Marie-Madeleine, our
Ambassadrice itinérante who took care of the good
relationship between members and the good standing of
our Bailliage. Lastly, I would be remiss in not mentioning
Pierre Charbonnier, our Bailli honoraire.
Vive la Chaîne!”
C'est avec beaucoup de tristesse que nous vous annonçons
le décès de Pierre Delage, Bailli Régional de l'Outaouais.
Il est décédé, paisiblement à sa résidence, samedi le 19
Avril a l'âge de 75 ans.
Avocat, grand connaisseur de vin, professeur en
Sommellerie et Bailli Régional de l'Outaouais, Pierre
Delage, laisse dans le deuil sa partenaire de 28 ans,
Madame Lucie Dion, expert légal.
Né à Montréal en 1939, Pierre Delage était le fils de
feux Yvette Jutras et Gérard Delage, épicurien canadien
bien connu. Il laisse également dans la peine ses enfants
Esther (Brad Landon), Louis-Philippe (Isabelle Parrot),
Isabelle (Maxwell Hollins), la mère de ses enfants
Françoise Gaulin, cinq petits-enfants Philippe et Eric
Hollins, Marc-Antoine, Simon et Charles Delage, ses
frères et belle-soeurs, neveux et nièces, la grande famille
de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, particulièrement les membres
du Conseil du Baillage de l'Outaouais, ses étudiants de la
Cité collégiale et de nombreux parents et amis.
Pierre détenait un Bac en Sciences Politiques et une
License en Droit de l'Université d'Ottawa. Il fut Membre
du Barreau du Québec de 1966 jusqu'à sa retraite. Comme
avocat, il a siégé pendant plusieurs années au Conseil
du Trésor du Canada, oeuvré comme Directeur Général à
la Commission des Services Publics du Canada et fut
Conseiller Légal pour le Service des Plaintes Publiques
contre la Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Grand amateur
de musique, a sa retraite, Pierre devient le Conseiller legal
des Amis du National Arts Centre Orchestra.
Peu de temps avant son décès, Pierre a laissé ces
quelques mots pour ses amis de la Chaîne:
“Chers amis et membres de la Chaîne,
C’est avec tristesse que je dois vous annoncer mon départ
à titre de Bailli. Des conditions de santé m’y obligent. En
ce faisant, je tiens à vous remercier de votre appui durant
mon mandat.
Je veux aussi remercier les membres de notre équipe
qui, par leur collaboration, ont insufflé une nouvelle
énergie à notre Bailliage. Merci, donc à Marie-Ève
Coupal- Place, notre Vice-Chancelière, qui, par son
entrain, sa bonne humeur et son éternel désir de rendre
service à certes rendu ma tâche beaucoup plus facile.
Merci aussi à Jean-Guy Gorley, notre Vice-Conseiller
gastronomique, qui nous permis par son élan sans borne
de nous trouver des nouveaux endroits pour satisfaire nos
papilles, et qui, de ce fait, nous réserve encore des
surprises pour toute cette année. Merci aussi Denise
Gélinas, notre Chef de mission qui a aidé à la bonne tenue
de nos événements et a agi à titre de Secrétaire de notre
Bureau en nous préparant des procès-verbaux
impeccables. Je souligne aussi la belle contribution du
Chef Blain, notre Vice-Conseiller culinaire qui, par son
expérience et sa grande sagesse, nous a bien aidé à la
préparation de nos événements. Je remercie également
Louise Beaulne, notre Vice-Échanson qui, à titre de
Sommelière a su nous donner des conseils judicieux dans
le domaine de ses compétences et lors de nos réunions du
Bureau. Je réserve mes grands remerciements à Patrice
Basille, un Vice chef de mission, qui a contribué à la
bonne marche de notre Bailliage par sa bonne humeur et
son désir d’innover, et d’en faire la preuve avec les
ripailles très originales au Restaurant Perspective du
grand hôtel Brookstreet. Merci aussi Victor Ferreira, lui
aussi Vice-chef de mission et grand hôtelier, avant qu’il
ne prenne sa retraite; pour sa contribution à
l’administration de notre Bailliage qui été très appréciée.
Enfin, grands mercis à Marie-Madeleine Legendre, notre
Ambassadrice itinérante, qui a assuré les bonnes relations
entre les membres de notre Bailliage et a vu au bon
rayonnement de notre Bailliage. Je m’en voudrais de ne
pas faire un clin d’œil à Pierre Charbonnier, notre Bailli
honoraire.
