How to compare the different Air Purifiers ?
AHAM
AHAM stands for the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers. This is an American
association the mission of which is to enhance the value of the home appliance industry
through leadership, public education and advocacy. AHAM created a Room Air Cleaner
Certification Program and test method to certify air cleaner performance through an
unbiased, independent laboratory. For more information see www.aham.org or

What is the CADR ?
The Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) is a measure of how quickly an air cleaner cleans the
air. A higher CADR means that the air cleaner cleans the air more quickly (it provides more
clean air). CADR is the one performance measure that can be used to compare all air
cleaners. CADR is usually measured for three particle challenges: smoke, dust, and pollen.
According to the AHAM Room Air Cleaner Certification Program, the recommended room
size is related to the smoke CADR. While higher CADR always equals higher cleaning
power, higher CADR is not always necessary for a closed room, which is why the room size
recommendation was created.

CADR is a uniform performance measure that is included on ALL room air cleaners that are
part of the AHAM Room Air Cleaner Certification Program.. The CADR rating label will list
the CADR rating for tobacco smoke, dust, and pollen, and it will also list the recommended
room size per the standard AHAM procedure.

Filtres HEPA
HEPA is an acronym for "high efficiency particulate absorbing" or "high efficiency
particulate air." According to the strict definition of a HEPA filter, it is at least 99.97%
efficient at capturing 0.3 micron particles (DOE 1997), However, many HEPA filters are
made with dense fibers so they have a much higher pressure drop than an equal-size filter
used in the Ultra clean units . Due to the density of the fibers, the room air cleaners that
use HEPA filters may contain larger motor to run the fan at a higher speed so that air can
pass through the filter. These air cleaners are louder than the Ultra clean units..
FiltreteTM Filters
They are filters made of permanently electro statically charged fibers converted into a non
woven pleated web. Those filters allow a good filtration with a minimal pressure drop and
air flow reduction.

Those filters retain large particles and have to be cleaned regularly, such as vacuuming,
which never remove 100% of the collected particles.
Ionizers
An ionizer is an electronic device that charges the particles in the air. Small charged
particles are more easily captured by an electrostatic filter, and small charged particles will
also naturally remove themselves from the air.
Our Ultra Slim Air Purifier combines a Filtrete filter with an ionizer – It has a CADR close
the one of the FAP02
Some units that have only an electrostatic precipitator (ionizer) and little, if any, airflow
have an extremely low CADR;. Ionizer-only air purifiers are typically not rated with AHAM
for CADR..
All the ionizers are producing Ozone because they are using high voltage to ionize the air.
According to the standard IEC/EN 60335-1 2004 edition et IEC/EN 60335-2-65 2005
edition about the limit of ozone emission, the level of ozone has to be below 0.05 ppm.

performance..
Importance of usage conditions
No room air cleaner will remove 100% of the particles in a room due to a variety of factors
First, only a certain amount of air will pass though the air cleaner at any time. The filter will
only remove particles from the air that passes through the filter.
Second, if you open any windows or doors in the room in which the room air cleaner is
operating, you will introduce more air into the room, and thus more particles which will mix
with the air in the room, even air that has already passed through the room air cleaner.
Third, even if you walk around the room or take a seat, additional particles will be
introduced into the air.
Finally, if you run your filter in a larger room than is recommended by the manufacturer, the
room air cleaner will not be able to remove particles from the larger space as quickly.
Room air cleaners are designed to remove particles from the air in a limited area. They
perform the same way, whether they contain HEPA filters or not. For a better air cleaning
use the air purifier in a closed room.

The Filtrete air purifier FAP04 has been designed by Pininfarina.
The filter change indicator
This Air Purifier includes a filter change indicator. The change indicator monitors
how long the Air Purifier has operated, not just how many days since the filter was
installed.
A yellow LED indicates the filter has reached 80% of its capacity. The flashing red LED
indicates the filter has to be changed.
An air quality sensor for running on automatic mode
This Air Purifier includes an air quality sensor. The air quality sensor reacts to
odours and gases in the air and causes the Air Purifier to change speed. This Air
Purifier is primarily designed to remove particles from the air. However, odours
and particles are often formed together, such as cooking smoke, tobacco smoke,
etc., so in many cases the air quality sensor will react to changes in particle
concentration. The Air Purifier will run on higher speeds when more gases or
odours are detected and on lower speeds when less gases or odours are detected.

the CADR is determined by both airflow and filter efficiency. Higher airflow provides better
circulation throughout a room, but for most media filters, it provides an additional benefit:

faster than a HEPA air purifier for a comparable room size.

Decibels measure noise level. They are measured on a logarithmic scale . Because of that
when the intensity is doubled, this is equivalent to increase noise level in dB of about 3dB.
But the sensation of intensity doubled ,is reached with an increase of 10dB
