ABOUT US
The associate professorship in International Criminal Law at the Department for Criminal Law
at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland has been created in Fall 2012.
1.
Prof. Gerhard Fiolka
1994-1998 Studies in Law at the University of Fribourg / Switzerland, 2006 Dr. iur. with the
doctoral thesis «Das Rechtsgut». Currently working on a Habilitation thesis on the effects of
international law on the «dogmatical» structures of national (swiss) criminal law.
1999-2002 Researcher at the chair of Prof. Franz Riklin, 2002-2011 Lecturer in Criminal Law
at the chairs of Prof. Franz Riklin, Prof. Christof Riedo and Prof. Marcel Alexander Niggli at
the University of Fribourg / Switzerland. Stays for Research at the Universities of Bologna,
Brussels (Institut d’Etudes Européennes at the Université Libre de Bruxelles) and Leiden.
2011 invited professor at the University of Bucharest and at the Collège juridique francoroumain d’études européennes. 2012 invited professor at the University of Málaga. Since
August 2012 associate professor for International Criminal Law at the University of Fribourg /
Switzerland.
