ARTCURIAL MOTORCARS renews its partnership with Le Mans Classic, one of
the most famous historic endurance events in the world, for a second consecutive
sale, to be held on 7 July. Some 130 important collectors’ and competition cars
will come under the hammer of auctioneer and former racing driver Hervé
Poulain.
Le Mans Classic brings back to life the era when anything was possible. When cars were
driven to the circuit, raced in the 24 Hours and driven home again! This event not only allows
collectors to realise their dream of competing on the legendary circuit at La Sarthe where the
greatest drivers of all time have raced, but also to attend the ARTCURIAL MOTORCARS sale,
highlight of the weekend, and bid for one of the 130 cars on offer.
Matthieu Lamoure, Director of Artcurial Motorcars comments : “What other sale can present
at least ten cars that have won legendary races, a manufacturer’s collection of prototypes
(Heuliez) , several collections of GT cars, and offer 70% of these at no reserve! ”
1968 Porsche 908 competition - Estimate : 1.300.000 - 1.600.000€
The sale has a strong competition bias and features cars that have participated – and in many cases won – highly prestigious races. Wellknown names in the motoring world have chosen to consign their cars
to this sale. Highlights include:
• Four exceptional Ligier cars that testify to the
talent of Guy Ligier, including the 1974 JS2
which won the 1974 Tour de France and came
second in the 1975 Le Mans 24 Hour Race
(estimate € 750,000 - 1,100,000), the 1970 JS1
with excellent racing provenance (€ 450,000 650,000) and the 1978 F1 11/15 which won the
1980 Hockenheim GP, driven by Laffite (€ 200,000 - 250,000).

• A tribute to the late Carroll Shelby with the 1966 AC Cobra 427 (estimate € 500,000 – 600,000).
• Collection belonging to Claude Le Guézec, former Matra race director.
• Collection belonging to Michel Pignard, who has participated in the Le Mans 24 Hour race 11
times and was runner-up in the French hillclimb championship.
• The Heuliez Collection comprising 40 prototypes offered at no reserve, and presented in a separate catalogue.
• Star GT cars :
With estimates between € 1,300,000 and € 1,600,000, collectors will have the choice of a rare 1966
Ferrari 275 GTC which won the 1966 Nurburgring 1000km, a magnificent Porsche 908, winner at
Zellweg, or the only world champion Audi R10 TD1 factory prototype in private hands. The
Peugeot marque is well represented, with a 1938 Darl’mat 402 and a 1991 905 which participated in the Le Mans 24 Hour race for three consecutive years (no reserve).
Hervé Poulain will also bring the hammer down on many all time classics, including two Mercedes
Benz 300 SLs – a Gullwing and a Roadster, XK and E-Type Jaguars, a Ferrari Daytona, an
Aston DB6 Vantage and many more...
