Kathi Kaeppel (born March, 3, 1977) is a German animation director, illustrator, and visual artist
based in Berlin. She works in a variety of media including illustration, animation, and installation.
Kathi uses various techniques such as acrylic paint, drawing, papercutting and animation, both
analog and digital.
As a co-founder of the artistic group monogatari, she has worked as comic artist, character
designer, and illustrator for books, magazines, and exhibitions. In addition, Kathi has made many
animated music videos, animated series, and personal short films that were awarded and
screened around the world. She was awarded a DAAD and a Fulbright scholarship.
Nowadays, Kathi works free-lance as illustrator and director for animated films, and teaches the
latter at art colleges. She recently created a series of collaged murals for the lounge of the Hotel
Lindenberg, Frankfurt a. M. : “Der fliegende Robert” and prepares a picture book for children.
