TIGNISH CREDIT UNION
 Tignish Credit Union Ltd. will hold its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 1st, at 7:00 p.m., at the
Tignish Parish Centre. The evening will begin with the business meeting followed by refreshments. A
number of prizes will be drawn throughout the evening. All owners are welcome and urged to attend to
celebrate the success of their business. It is your opportunity to hear the annual reports of activities
from the Board Members whom you elected.
 Credit Unions depend on the volunteer efforts of many people. To recognize those who have served
our communities well, each year we invite your nominations for “Credit Union Member of the Year”.
Complete guidelines and application forms can be picked-up at the Tignish or Alberton office during
normal business hours. Deadline for nominations is closing time on Tuesday, February 23rd . Please
help us recognize a worthy volunteer.
CAISSE POPULAIRE TIGNISH
 L’assemblée générale annuelle de la Caisse populaire Tignish aura lieu le mardi 1 mars, à 19 h 00,
au Centre Paroissiale de Tignish. La soirée débutera avec la réunion d’affaires suivie par des
rafraîchissements. Plusieurs prix seront pigés durant la soirée. Tous les propriétaires sont bienvenus et
pressé de participer pour célébrer le succès de votre entreprise. C’est votre opportunité d’entendre les
rapports de l’année des membres du comité que vous avez élu.
 Les Caisse populaires dépendent sur les efforts de beaucoup de bénévoles. Pour ceux qu’on servi les
communautés, chaque année nous vous invitons de faire des nominations pour le « Membre de la
Caisse Populaire de l’année ». Les fiches de critères et formulaires d’application sont disponibles aux
bureaux de Tignish ou Alberton, pendant les heures de travail. La date limite pour les nominations
sera le mardi 23 février, à l’heure de fermeture. S.V.P. aidez-nous à reconnaître quelqu’un.
LECTURE ON ACADIAN HOMES IN P.E.I.
Historian Georges Arsenault will present a lecture (in French) at the Acadian Museum, in Miscouche, on
Sunday, February 21st, at 2:00 p.m. His talk will deal with Acadian homes in P.E.I. over the 18th and 19th
century, from the pioneer log homes to the beautiful residences of prominent Acadians. The guest lecturer
will present numerous photos of houses from various Acadian regions of the Island and also, in some
cases, photos of the people who inhabited them. Free admission; donations appreciated. Storm date will
be Sunday, February 28th.
CONFÉRENCE SUR LES MAISONS ACADIENNES DE L’Î.-P.-É.
L’historien Georges Arsenault présentera une conférence (en français) au Musée acadien, à Miscouche, le
dimanche 21 février, à 14 h 00. Il traitera des maisons acadiennes à l’Île au cours des 1700 et 1800, soit
des simples maisons pièce sur pièce aux élégantes résidences des notables acadiens. Le conférencier
présentera de nombreuses photos de maisons de différentes régions acadiennes de l’Île et aussi, dans
certains cas, des photos des gens qui les ont habités. Entrée gratuite; dons appréciés. Date de tempête
sera le dimanche 28 février.

ST-LOUIS COMMUNITY CENTRE – NIGHT OF MUSIC
Come on out to the St-Louis Community Centre for a great night of music every Sunday, at 7:30 p.m.,
followed by a lunch. Admission is $5. All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the hall. The following are
the performances that will take place in the upcoming weeks:
 Sunday, February 21st, Carol Ann Gallant & Friends.
 Sunday, February 28th, Helping Hands Band.
 Sunday, March 6th, Edith Gaudet & Friends.
COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH
 The Tignish Winter Carnival will be held from Friday, February 26th, to Sunday, February 28th. We
are looking for volunteers to help out during this three-day event.
 The Tignish Community Council is asking the snow removal operators to not push or dump the snow
on the sidewalk when clearing private driveways or pushing the snow across the street.
 We now have a new website: www.tignishpei.ca. Please let us know what you think as a Facebook
page is being looked at for the Tignish Communities in Bloom.

Put on your dancing shoes and come on out to the Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest, in DeBlois, on
Saturday, February 27th, from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., with music by Kurk Bernard and Blair Gaudet.

BARGAIN BASEMENT
There will be a Social Event for the Bargain Basement on Friday, February 26th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00
p.m. This is an event for all past and present volunteers, along with anyone who is interested in
volunteering at the Bargain Basement for a day a week (4 hours) or a day a month, to come and see what
the Bargain Basement has to offer, answer any questions you may have, and to meet other dedicated
volunteers. The Bargain Basement will be closed for regular business that day… it’s for volunteers
only. Light snacks to be served and door prizes. Looking forward to seeing you.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Join us for a delicious pancake breakfast on Sunday, February 28th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the
Miminegash Fire Hall. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. All proceeds will go towards the purchase
of a new fire truck for the Miminegash Fire Department.

OPEN HOUSE
We would like to invite you to take part in our open house featuring a group of 22 local seniors who
participated in the 8-week Learning Elders Arts Program. They have fabricated numerous basket and
bookmarks. They have truly enjoyed themselves and looking forward to showing their creations. The
project was led by artist Ann McRae McIsaac and numerous volunteer who assisted our local seniors with
the production of their art. We would love if you were able to join us on March 2nd, at 1:00 p.m., at the
Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest.

ATV FUN RUN
The Miminegash Fire Department will be holding their annual ATV Fun Run on Saturday, March 5th.
Registration will be between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., at the Miminegash Fire Hall.
Registration is $10 and $5 for a passenger. There will also be an option of purchasing a hot meal ticket for
$5. Lots of great prizes to be won! All proceeds will go towards the purchase of a new fire truck for the
Miminegash Fire Department.
OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY OF THE “RENDEZ-VOUS DE LA FRANCOPHONIE”
The Conseil Rév. S.-É.-Perrey invites you to come out to the Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest on Sunday,
March 6th, at 2:00 p.m. (storm date is March 13th). Performing will be Caroline Bernard, Remi Arsenault,
and Louise Arsenault of the Evangeline region along with local artists Keelin Wedge, Elaine Wedge, Steve
Perry, and Victor Doucette. Also, the students from the fiddling program at the Centre will play a tune or
two. In addition, we are pleased to present our special guest Mélanie Brulée. She has a modern style, with
a particular kind of gypsy-chic and dynamic voice. Free admission. There will be delicious chiard and
fricot for sale during the break. The event is a collaboration of the Conseil Rév. S.-É.-Perrey and the
Fédération culturelle de l’Î.-P.-É.

time of sorrow. Thanks to all who phoned, brought food to our homes, sent flowers, cards, and Mass
tributes, and made donations to St. Simon and St. Jude Building Fund. To Fr. Bud for the beautiful funeral
Mass, to Fr. Danny Wilson and Fr. Albin for coming to Community Hospital for George and praying with us.
Thanks to the Eucharistic ministers, choir, readers, servers, and Jessie and Robert for the music at the
funeral. For those who served the lunch after the funeral, for all who assisted George in his sickness and
to all family and friends who were there for us. Thank you.
