Emplacement des haut-parleurs et orientation du tweeter
Le résultat optimum sera obtenu en respectant quelques règles simples :
L’image sonore la plus large et la plus centrée sera obtenue par un écartement maximum
des haut-parleurs et par un positionnement le plus à l’avant possible.
Les fréquences médiums et aigues seront favorisées par un emplacement en haut de portière
ou sur le tableau de bord, les fréquence graves sont peu directives et ne sont donc pas déterminantes
pour le choix de l’emplacement du haut-parleur.
Les tweeters devront être installés soit en haut de portière (ex : support de rétroviseur) soit
sur le tableau de bord. Leur orientation permettra d'optimiser l'image sonore.
Une orientation vers l'oreille de l'auditeur opposé procurera une image parfaitement centrée
(ce positionnement permet de compenser la différence de distance entre les 2 haut-parleurs).

L'orientation des tweeters en direction des oreilles de l'auditeur
permet d'optimiser l'image sonore.
Puissance recommandée
Le rendement de vos haut-parleurs Access étant élevé, leur utilisation avec un autoradio "high power"
procurera un niveau acoustique suffisant pour une écoute confortable. Cependant, si vous souhaitez
encore plus de niveau, vous pouvez sans problème les associer avec un amplificateur de puissance.
Celui-ci devra avoir une puissance maximum correspondante à celle de vos haut-parleurs.
Evolution de l’installation
Afin de renforcer le niveau de grave, vous pouvez ajouter un subwoofer.

Recommandations importantes
Avant tout, il est primordial de vérifier l’espace disponible pour l’encastrement des haut-parleurs
(pour cela, nous vous recommandons de vous reporter aux plans sur l’emballage).
Après cette vérification, procéder aux découpes :
Dans le cas d’un montage en emplacement d’origine, il faut vérifier qu’il y ait un espace suffisant
entre le haut-parleur et la grille d’origine, afin de permettre les mouvements de la membrane sans
risque de butée sur cette grille.
Pendant l’installation, les haut-parleurs doivent être stockés dans un endroit propre.
Les copeaux pourraient être attirés par l’aimant
Ne pas suspendre les haut-parleurs par les fils.
Faire particulièrement attention de ne pas endommager les haut-parleurs lors du vissage.
Assurez-vous que le haut-parleur ne gênera aucune fonction (ex : baisse des vitres).
Les haut-parleurs doivent être solidement fixés afin d’éliminer toutes vibrations parasites.
Le support doit être rigide (renforcé éventuellement avec une plaque de bois).
L’étanchéité entre l’avant et l’arrière du haut-parleur doit être absolue (utilisez le joint d’étanchéité
fournie dans la grille).
Focal vous recommande l’utilisation de "Plain-Chant" (demander à votre revendeur). Ce matériau
amortissant installé sur l’intérieur de la porte, derrière chaque haut-parleur, améliorera encore le résultat
en réduisant les vibrations mécaniques de la tôle de la portière et en absorbant une partie de l’onde
arrière émise par le haut-parleur.
Installation du tweeter
Il existe deux possibilités de montage : montage en surface et montage encastré.
Le TN 47 est livré dans son support de montage encastré. Pour l'installer, vous devez sortir le tweeter de
son support. Pour cela, retirer la grille en la tirant à l'aide d'un objet pointu puis utiliser l'outil fourni
pour faire tourner le tweeter et l'enlever.

Montage en surface : choisir l'inclinaison
(10° ou 30°), fixer le support avec les vis
fournies, passer les fils du tweeter
puis placer le tweeter en le faisant pivoter.
Remettre la grille.
Montage encastré : découper un trou de
45 mm de diamètre dans la portière, installer
la barrette avec la vis fournie sur le support.
Insérer le support et la barrette puis visser
afin que la barrette vienne pincer le support.
Passer ensuite les fils et placer le tweeter en
le faisant pivoter. Remettre la grille.

Fixation du filtre
Les filtres doivent être fixés (vis fournies ou double face) dans un endroit
sec et aéré de préférence. Pour ouvrir le boîtier, appuyer suivant les flêches
du schéma ci-contre.
Réglage du niveau du tweeter
Le commutateur placé à l'intérieur du filtre permet d'ajuster le niveau du tweeter en fonction de vos
goûts et aussi de l'emplacement des haut-parleurs dans votre habitacle, ceci afin d'avoir la meilleure
restitution possible. Trop de niveau dans l'aigu donne un son agressif et un manque de niveau donne
un manque de définition et de dynamique.
Vous avez deux possibilités de réglage : Smooth et Live.
La position marquée Live est à sélectionner si le tweeter est installé très près du haut-parleur de
grave-médium. Elle correspond au niveau nominal du tweeter.
La position Smooth est recommandée si le tweeter est installé sur le tableau de bord ou en haut de
portière et le woofer dans la portière. Elle permet d'atténuer le tweeter de 3dB environ.

Le commutateur, permettant de régler
le niveau du tweeter, se trouve à l'intérieur du filtre.
Câblage et connexions
Afin de tirer le meilleur parti de vos haut-parleurs Access, Focal vous recommande l’utilisation
des câbles Focal. Un câble de qualité et de section suffisante (1 mm2 minimum) est recommandé,
particulièrement si la distance séparant l’amplificateur ou l’autoradio des haut-parleurs est grande.
Attention : il est impératif de respecter les polarités des haut-parleurs.
Pour les woofers : la cosse la plus petite correspond au négatif, la plus grosse au positif.
Pour les tweeters : le fil repéré d'un liseré rouge correspond au positif.
Pour le filtre passif 2 voies :
- les bornes marquées INPUT sont à connecter à la sortie haut-parleur de l'autoradio
ou de l'amplificateur ;
- les bornes marquées WOOFER sont à connecter au woofer ;
- les bornes marquées TWEETER sont à connecter au tweeter.

En cas de problème, adressez-vous à votre revendeur Focal.
La garantie pour la France sur tout matériel Focal est de un an, à partir de la date d'achat, non
transmissible si le matériel est revendu. En cas de matériel défectueux, celui-ci doit être expédié
à vos frais, dans son emballage d'origine. Notre service après-vente analysera le matériel et déterminera
la nature de la panne. Si celui-ci est sous garantie, le matériel vous sera rendu, remplacé en "franco de
port". Dans le cas contraire, un devis de réparation vous sera proposé.
La garantie ne couvre pas les dommages résultant d'une mauvaise utilisation ou d'un branchement
incorrect (bobines mobiles brûlées par exemple...).
En dehors de la France, le matériel Focal est couvert par une garantie dont les conditions sont fixées
localement par le distributeur officiel Focal de chaque pays, en accord avec les lois en vigueur sur le
territoire concerné.

Placement of the speakers and orientation of the tweeter
To obtain the maximum results possible for effective listening pleasure, simply follow these easy steps :
To obtain correct sound staging, the speakers should be installed in the most front position possible.
Medium and high frequencies are better obtained if the speakers are positioned high in the door
or in the dashboard. Bass drivers, and particularly subwoofers do not produce directional sound,
thus are not so restricted to their position placement.
High frequency sound are even more directionnal, so fit the tweeters high up on the door panel or on
the dash. Make sure there's a clear path between yours ears and the tweeters, that way you'll be able
to hear how good they really are. If this is not possible, the windshield makes a very efficient reflector
and can be used to re-direct the sound back towards you. Try and aim the sound from the left tweeter
towards the right seat and the sound from right towards the left seat. This gives the widest and most
even spread of sound.

Position the tweeters in the line of yours ears, that way you'll
be able to hear how good they are.
Recommended Power
These speakers are already highly efficient, therefore their use with high power head units already
ensures a comfortable listening pleasure. Always consult the head unit or amplifier manual, before.
However if you wish to get more efficiency you can use your speakers with a power amplifier. Beware
that the power consomption of your amplifier is compatible with your speakers (consult the head unit
or amplifier manual).
Installation upgrade

project obtains the maximum audible pleasure possible.

Recommendations
Before attempted any installation work, it is very important to verify how much space is available to
fit the speakers into the vehicle. We recommend you use the “hole-cutting”plans included to help with
your installation.
After this has been verified continue to follow these important steps:
Regarding a direct replacement of original equipment, it is necessary to verify how much space is
available. It is particularly important to verify how much space is available in front of the speaker,
thus ensuring the forward excursion of the membrane will not hit the grille.
The defined location of the speaker installation must be clean.
Never use the cables to hold the speakers in place.
Ensure not to accidentally damage the speakers front facing surface, while screwing in-place.
Always ensure the speakers do not obstruct any of the normal working operations found in the
vehicle (example: the speakers magnet assembly does not obstruct the window winding mechanism).
The speakers must be fixed rigidly in place to ensure unwanted distortion is eliminated.
The surrounding area where the speaker is placed, must be rigid (we recommend this area is
reinforced with wood).
Sealing of the speaker to the placement is obtained using the foam gasket supplied.
Focal recommends the inclusion of “Plain-Chant” (ask at you local dealer). This damping material when
installed in the door interior, behind each speaker greatly increases its performance. It helps eliminate
unwanted vibrations and ensures the sound remains dynamic and responsive.
Fitting the tweeter
There are two monting possibilities: surface or flush mounted.
The TN 47 arrives supplied in its flush-mounting pod. Remove the grille by gently prizing it off
(a paper clip is good for this). Use the tool supplied to remove the tweeter from its twist-lock fixing.

Surface mounting: choose the angle that best
suits your installation (10° or 30°) and mount
the pod firmly using the screws supplied.
Feed the wire though the hole in the pod and
re-fix the tweeter and grille in place.
Flush mounting: cut a neat 45mm hole
in the panel where you want to place
the tweeter. With the metal mounting strip
held from behind (with the ends pointing
towards the hole), insert the screw through
the flush-mount pod from the front and tighten
to two parts together. Feed the wire through
the hole in the pod and re-fix the tweeter
and grille in place.

Fitting the crossover
Locate the crossovers in a dry, preferably ventilated area using
either the screws supplied or double-sided tape.
To open the box, squeeze the middle of the side on the top half.
Adjusting tweeter level
Once the complete system has been installed, the tweeter level can be adjusted to best suit the
environment and placement you have chosen.
There are two adjustments: Smooth and Live.
Use the position Live if the woofer and tweeter have been placed close to each other. This position
corresponds to the nominal level of the tweeter.
We'd recommended the position Smooth when the woofer is in the door or in the top half of the
door and the tweeter on the dash. The Smooth position allows a 3dB attenuation.

Cables and connection
For best results, we recommend you include the use of Focal cables. Alternatively, other high quality
cable can be used. A section of 1mm is recommended, particularly if the distance from speaker to
amplifier or head unit is long, to ensure the signal remains efficient.
Correct polarity must be maintained for a smooth and balanced sound.
Woofers: the small tag is the negative, the larger is positive.
Tweeters: the positive wire is marked with a red line.
2-way crossover:
- connect the terminals marked INPUT to the loudspeaker outputs of your head unit or
amplifier;
- connect the terminals marked WOOFER to the woofer;
- connect the terminals marked TWEETER to the tweeter.
