HIKING SWITZERLAND VIASUWOROW OVERVIEW The Russian General Suworow marched through the Swiss Alps with his army in the autumn of 1799 to force the French to flee their country. The Via Suworow follows this expedition through a breathtaking mountain landscape. Memorials along the Gotthard and in Schöllenen, as well as the places where the General set up camp in the buildings declared as protected monuments, such as the Muotatha Monastery or the Suworow-Haus in Elm. recall the dramatic events.
