PRESS RELEASE – APRIL 2013 4th Edition of the International Multihull Boat Show, La Grande Motte from 10 to 14 April 2013 EDITO The concept of « les salons du multicoque » was born in 2009, of an evidence to exhibit the catamarans and trimarans in water, and to save money on the transport costs. One event, 2 sites: Lorient, on the Atlantic coast, enhances the northern European shipyards La Grande Motte, on the Med coast, optimizes the visibility of the southern European yacht builders This original strategy to alternate between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean takes its dimension over the years and attracts more and more shipyards. The aim is to make this annual rendez‐vous, the world showcase of leisure multihull boats. With 60% of the world production, the French shipyards take a prominent place and are a real locomotive for the boat industry. Foreign shipyards are also here, from all continents, they push the event to an international dimension: Italy, Spain, Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Hong Kong, United States... They are more than twenty countries to develop new products that make us dream and travel. 2010 – First edition… a world premiere!!! 50 multihulls in water, the esplanade of “La Cite de la voile Eric Tabarly” in Lorient, inaugurates the multihull boat show. 2011 – The first in the Mediterranean… more than 60 multihulls, and a successful confirmation ‐ It is the assertion of an international vocation. 2012 – Back to the Atlantic – Northern Europe gets together, against all odds, it is the year of sustainability. 2013 – Here is the fourth already, an edition full of promises and new boats… th
4 Edition of the International Multihull Boat Show, La Grande Motte from 10 to 14 April 2013 page 1 PRESS RELEASE – APRIL 2013 Edition 2013 In water The more prestigious multihull shipyards are here: Catana, Fountaine‐Pajot, Lagoon, Leopard Catamarans, Nautitech, Neel Trimarans, Outremer, and Privilège Marine... More than 60 multihull boats in water in front of the pyramids, with a specific lay out of the docks to improve the presentation of the boats and the flow of visitors. For this 4th edition, some boats are exhibited for the first time in water, in the world or in Europe: • AVENTURA 33 Hybrid, • New motor yacht FOUNTAINE‐PAJOT, CUMBERLAND 47 LC, • LAGOON 39, and LAGOON 52, from CNB‐LAGOON, • LEOPARD 48, from LEOPARD CATAMARANS, • TAG 60, from the South‐African shipyard TAG YACHTS • VA 32, catamaran for disabled people, manufactured by VOIL’AVENIR, a rehabilitation association For this second Mediterranean Edition, a special area "charter with crew" will be settled at the harbor master office docks, and visitors will see another facet of sailing a multihull. These boats will accommodate beginners or experienced sailors, one will sail with crew on the most beautiful seas of the world ... not to be missed ...!! The heart of the marina of La Grande Motte directly connected to the city center with a crossing‐floating gateway, welcomes the exhibitors village representing the whole multihull industry. The exhibitors village In the garden tents or in the main tent, more than 150 exhibitors are together on the western esplanade of the marina. Very coveted spot, the “multihull club design”, presents this year still, the last projects and innovations of the architects and designers. An area dedicated to the charter companies will display the most beautiful travel destinations aboard catamarans and trimarans. Faithful since the first edition, shipchandlers, electronics and equipments manufacturers, banking solutions, insurance, sail makers… they are there to meet the future owners’ expectations. th
4 Edition of the International Multihull Boat Show, La Grande Motte from 10 to 14 April 2013 page 2 PRESS RELEASE – APRIL 2013 Accordingly to its philosophy of conviviality and exchange, the organisation continues the adventure of the “Multihull Cup”: the 2nd edition, in the bay of La Grande Motte, partners, and exhibitors will race on trimarans Multi 23 (VPLP design) for 3 days. The award ceremony will take place on Saturday evening at the, now famous, “Multihull Club”. Golden Oldies Faithful, among all, Philippe Echelle and the Golden Oldies, make the show once more. They exhibit this year 4 legend boats : FLEURY MICHON 4 (45' Newick) the most exemplary renovation of the association (4 years) and PAT'S, GODIVA and MOXIE in particular tribute to Dick Newick... GODIVA, Rory Nugent’s prao sailed by Anne and Paul Buttin (2012 Golden Oldies Trophy of honnor). The right moment for enthousiats to admire this extraordinary avant‐garde sculpture, last representative of race praos wih TAHITI DOUCHE and CHEERS. AILE BLEUE (prix Phil Weld de l’élégance 2011), the magnificant Native (Newick 42’) of Jérôme Brochier is there as well, with F40 BISCUIT CANTREAU I of Emmanuel Pironneau and with FINE MOUCHE /FLEURY MICHON IV (Newick 45’ Golden Oldies Trophy 2011) of Alain Borsotti. The achievement of these solutions, involves in particular the support to responsible shipyards, looking for clean building materials, and training people in the South.
