Highlight of the Month: The ISDB
La SFBD est membre de la Société Internationale
des Biologistes du Développement (ISDB,
http://www.developmental-biology.org/index.php),
une
organisation
qui
regroupe
plusieurs
associations nationales ou internationales de
Biologie du Développement comme la JSDB
(Japon), la BSDB (Royaume Uni), la GfE
(Allemagne)… Ces sociétés ont déjà des liens
avec la SFBD puisque nous avons déjà, ou allons,
organiser des meetings associés avec elles. Le
Président actuel de l’ISDB est Claudio Stern.
L’ISDB a pour objectif de promouvoir la Biologie du
Développement. Une des actions principales est
l’organisation tous les 4 ans d’un meeting

international. Le dernier en date, le 16 ISDB
meeting, a été organisé à Edinbourg, Royaume Uni, en septembre 2009 par la BSDB. Le prochain meeting ISDB sera organisé à Cancun
au Mexique en 2013 (http://www.developmental-biology.org/Cancun.htm). Gardez-le à l’esprit, si vous êtes intéressés… Le rapport
annuel est téléchargeable sur le site de la SFBD.

May 6, 2011: Young Embryologist Meeting 2011, London
The 3rd Young Embryologist Meeting will take place on Friday 6th May 2011 at King’s College London (Guy’s Tower,
Floor 30). There will be a keynote lecture delivered by Sir John Gurdon, talks, poster session and a careers session
with a panel of three PIs (Prof. Claudio Stern, Prof. Jon Clarke and Dr. Karen Liu).
This unique meeting is run by PhD and Post Docs at UCL, King’s and NIMR and aims to create a more interactive
research community. Everyone is welcome to attend and the meeting is free and open to all. Deadline for abstract
st
submission is March 31 .

May 25-27, 2011: EMBO Lineage Commitments: Emphasis on Extraembryonic-Embryonic Interfaces
This workshop will bring together developmental biologists and stem cell researchers to review the latest
advances and highlight the future challenges regarding the intimate communication between the embryo and its
extraembryonic tissues.
The aim of the workshop is to examine the genetic control and molecular interplay in the various
extraembryonic-embryonic regions, to identify functional synergies and differences between distinct
extraembryonic-embryonic interfaces, to discuss the conservation and divergence in the developmental
relationship between the embryo and its extraembryonic tissues in several vertebrate models (mouse, chick,
rabbit, pig) and to share examples of clinical research investigating the consequences of extraembryonic
malformations. Deadline for abstract submission is April 29, 2011.
