The following abbreviations and acronyms are
used at the squadron and within this document:

2IC - Second In Command. Person second in the
command line after the commander.
cmdtA - commandant adjoint. La deuxième
personne dans la chaîne de commandement après
le commandant.
51 Sqn - 51 Canada Aviation Museum Squadron.
esc 51 - escadron 51 Musée de l'aviation du
Canada.
AAR - After Action Report.
RPA - rapport post-activité.
ACL – Air Cadet League.
LCA – Ligue des cadets de l’air.
ACR – Annual Ceremonial Review.
CRA – Cérémonial de la revue annuelle.
Admin NCO - Administration Non-Commissioned
Officer.
s/off Admin – sous-officier administration.
Admin O - Administration Officer.
O Admin - officier de l’administration.

of the CIC and hence not in uniform.

CIC - Cadet Instructor Cadre. A uniformed officer.
CIC - Cadre des instructeurs des cadets. Un officier
en uniforme.
CF - Canadian Forces.
FC - Forces canadiennes.
CFAO - Canadian Forces Administrative Order.
OAFC - ordonnance administrative des Forces
canadiennes.
CHAP - Cadet Harassment and Abuse Prevention
Programme.
PHAC - Programme de Prévention du harcèlement
et abus des cadets.
CO - Commanding Officer. Person in command of
a unit.
cmdt - commandant. La personne qui commande
une unité.
Comd - Commander (Appointment). Person
appointed in command of a group or of an activity.
May not necessarily be the CO.
cmdt - commandant (poste). La personne désignée
à un poste de commandement d’un groupe ou d’une
activité. Ce n’est pas nécessairement le cmdt d’une
unité.
COS – Chief of Staff (Appointment). Person
appointed as senior coordinator of the squadron
staff.
CEM – chef d’état-major (poste). La personne
désignée comme coordonnateur principal de l’étatmajor de l’escadron.
Cpl - The rank of Corporal.
cpl - Le grade de caporal.
CSTC – Cadet Summer Training Centre.

Flag Pty Comd - Flag Party Commander.
cmdt Gde drapeau - cadet commandant de la garde
du drapeau.
Flt - A flight. A grouping of more that 10 but
generally not more than 29 cadets placed together
for the purpose of training and administration.
son - Une section. Un groupement de plus de 10
mais généralement pas plus de 29 cadets regroupés
afin de faciliter la formation et l’administration.
Flt 2IC - Flight Second-in-Command.
cmdtA son - commandant adjoint de section.
Flt Admin O - Flight Administrative Officer – Sqn
Staff personnel appointed to maintain the standard
of a flight through the mentorship of the flight
senior cadets
O Admin son - Officier administratif de section –
Personnel de l’état-major de l’esc nommé afin de
maintenir la norme d'une section par le mentorat des
cadets seniors de la section
Flt Comd - Flight Commander, the commander of a cmdt son - commandant de section, un poste
flight. A position normally associated with the rank normalement associé au grade de sergent de
of Flight Sergeant (FSgt).

FCpl - The rank of Flight Corporal.
cpls - Le grade de caporal de section.
Flag Pty – Flag Party.
Gde drapeau - La garde du drapeau.
Flt O - Flight Officer - CIC officer and/or CAF
personnel appointed to maintain the standard of a
flight through the mentorship of the flight senior
cadets.
O son – Officier de section - officier du CIC et/ou
des FAC nommé afin de maintenir la norme d'une
section par le mentorat des cadets seniors de la
section.
Flt Sgt - A Flight Sergeant, the position of 2IC of a
flight (Flt 2IC). Not to be confused with the rank of
FSgt.
sgt son - Un sergent de section, le poste d’adjoint
d’une section (cmdtA son). À ne pas confondre
avec le grade de sgts.
FSgt - The rank of Flight Sergeant. A rank
normally associated to the position of Flt Comd.
Not to be confused with the position of Flt Sgt/
Flt 2IC.
sgts - Le grade de sergent de section. Un grade
normalement associé au poste de cmdt son. À ne
pas confondre avec le poste de sgt son/cmdtA son.
IC - In Charge. It is normally associated with a
position or function, e.g. Cdt IC.
resp - Responsable. Le terme est normalement
associé à un poste ou une fonction, p. ex. cdt Resp.
IG – Instructional Guide.
GP – Guide pédagogique.
Jr NCO - Junior Non-Commissioned Officer (Cpl
or FCpl).
s/off sub - sous-officier subalterne (cpl ou cpls).
LAC - The rank of Leading Air Cadet.
Cdt 1 - Le grade de cadet de l’air de première
classe.
Lvl O - Level Officer.
O Niv - officier de niveau.
NCM - Non-Commissioned Member. Genderless
word for someone who is not an Officer.
MR - Membre du rang. Terme, sans égard au sexe,
pour désigner une personne qui n’est pas un officier.

NCO - Non-Commissioned Officer. Someone who
is not an Officer.
s/off - sous-officier. Une personne qui n’est pas un
officier.
NES - Non-Effective Strength.
NES - Non-Effective Strength.
OCI - Office of Collateral Interest. Another point of
contact but not the Primary one. There can be
more than one OCI.
BC - Bureau consultatif. Un autre bureau ou
personne mais pas le BPR. Il peut y avoir plus d’un
BC.
OIC - Officer in Charge. An Officer assigned to be
in charge of an activity.
O Resp - officier responsable. Un officier désigné
responsable d’une activité.
OJT - On-the-Job Training.
FCE - formation en cours d’emploi.
OPI - Office of Primary Interest. The main point of
contact for an activity and not necessarily an
officer. There is usually only one OPI.
BPR - Bureau de première responsabilité. Le point
de contact principal pour une activité et pas
nécessairement un officier. Normalement il n’y a
qu’un seul BPR.
PO - Performance Objective.
OREN - Objectif de rendement.
POC - Point of Contact. A term not normally used
in Canada. We prefer the use of OPI.
POC - Point de contact. Un terme qui n’est pas
utilisé au Canada. Nous lui préférons BPR.
PSRY - Positive Social Relations for Youth.
RSPJ - Relation sociale positive pour la jeunesse.
QR (Cadets) - Queen’s Regulations and Orders
for the Canadian Cadet Organizations.
OR (Cadets) - Les ordonnances royales qui
s’appliquent aux organisations de cadets du
Canada.
QSP – Qualification Standard and Plan
NQP – Norme de qualification et plan.
RCAC – Royal Canadian Air Cadets.
CARC – Cadets de l’Aviation royale canadienne.
RCO - Region Cadet Officer.
ORC - officier régional des cadets.
RCSU - Regional Cadet Support Unit.
URSC – Unité régionale de soutien des cadets.
Recruit O - Recruiting Officer.
O Recrue - Officier du recrutement.
RFE - Request for Exercise.
RFE - Demande pour un exercice.
RWNG - Recorded Warning.
AE - avertissement écrit.
SC - Sponsoring Committee.
CR - comité répondant.
Sgt - The rank of Sergeant.
sgt - Le grade de sergent.
SOP - Standard Operating Procedure. Procedure
performed in a similar fashion every time so that it
has become standardised in its application.
IPO - Instruction Permanente d’Opération.
Procédés accomplis de la même façon à chaque
fois et qui sont devenu standardisés dans leur
application.
SOS - Struck Off Strength.
RE - rayé de l’effectif.
