The ESL in the world
The Diploma of the European School of Law
The European School of Law (ESL) ambitions to train
lawyers for Europe. Its axiom is cultural, linguistic and legal
diversity as key elements of training, and student mobility as
a means to develop knowledge.
The organization of ESL
Germany: Universität Passau, Universität Mannheim.
To achieve its ambition, the ESL offers a specific graduate diploma
to complement the main training. It enables students to enhance their
knowledge of the legal system of the European Union as well as
improve their grasp of the diversity of legal traditions within Europe
in order to better articulate the various national legal orders. Through
the management of a project with a European dimension and the
resolution of a concrete case, the students will become familiar with
the practise of European law.
The diploma comprises five units.
• The Strategic Committee (Comité d’Orientation Stratégique)
whose membership is composed of internationally recognized
professionals and academics.
• The educational board.
• The management.
• The general secretary.
• The research manager.
Spain: Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona , Universidad Carlos III

United Kingdom: University of Essex, Bangor University,
• obtain a double-degree or a degree with a dual training programme
of the school ;
Future European lawyers who are:
University of Dundee.
• obtain a Master 2 degree delivered by UT1 or by one of our partners;
United States: Stetson University.
• complete one or several internships, with a minimum total duration
of 6 months, in a public or private entity of European dimension ;
• capable of recognizing, understanding, comparing, articulating and
creating national and European rules ;
• learning law via student mobility ;
• aware of the necessary cooperation between legal experts.
The students graduating from the school are able to offer
solutions to legal issues within the European area.
