Dès sa fondation dans l’Antiquité, et tout au
long de son histoire, Saint-Tropez a eu partie
liée à la Méditerranée. Ses habitants ont écumé
mers et océans, à la découverte du vaste monde.
Aujourd’hui, c’est le vaste monde qui vient se
ressourcer à Saint-Tropez. Qui vient admirer ses
merveilles, les ocres de ses maisons, ses monuments classés. Qui vient se délecter de ses plages
uniques. Qui vient déguster sa cuisine provençale,
ses vins gorgés de soleil.
UN VILLAGE MYTHIQUE
ET UN HÔTEL LÉGENDAIRE
Ce petit village de pêcheurs a eu un destin hors
normes. Dès les années 1920, Colette tombe sous
son charme et y achète une maison. Les plus
grands peintres – de Signac à Matisse, en passant par Bonnard et Dunoyer de Segonzac – sont
attirés par sa lumière, à nulle autre pareille. Un
mythe est né. Les années 50, le cinéma, Brigitte
Bardot vont le parfaire.
Sur la place de la Gendarmerie, l’Hôtel de
Paris. Érigé à la fin des années 20, inauguré en
1931, son histoire est indissociable de celle de
Saint-Tropez. Il deviendra, lui aussi, légendaire.
Artistes et stars y prendront leurs quartiers. Cary
Grant, Juliette Gréco, Jean-Paul Sartre, Picasso,
Boris Vian…
