1. FISE WORLD SERIES 2016
Le FISE World Series est une tournée mondiale
des sports extrêmes qui rassemble les meilleurs
athlètes au monde en BMX, Skateboard,
Mountain Bike (MTB), Roller et Wakeboard. Les
athlètes professionnels et amateurs viennent
s’affronter lors de compétitions spectaculaires
très appréciées du public. Fidèle aux origines
du Festival International des Sports Extrêmes
(FISE), la tournée FISE World Series propose des
événements gratuits, dans des lieux cultes de
chacune des villes hôtes. L’atmosphère festival et
la culture de la glisse sont toujours au rendez-vous
avec des villages exposants, des démonstrations
et des initiations proposées pour le grand public.
Sur chacune des étapes, les riders accumulent des
points, gagnent des dotations financières et sont
exposés médiatiquement. Un classement général
en fin de tournée déterminera le grand champion
2016 dans chacune des disciplines. À noter
que cette année et pour la première fois de son
histoire, le FISE World Series organisera la Coupe
du Monde BMX Freestyle Park UCI. Cette Coupe
du Monde exclusive est née de la collaboration
entre l’UCI et Hurricane Action Sports.

The FISE World Series is a worldwide extreme
sports serie that gathers the best international
athletes in BMX, skateboard, MTB, inline skate and
wakeboard. The professional and amateur athletes
come to battle in spectacular and extremely
popular competitions.
Just like at its very beginnings with the Festival
des Sports Extrêmes (FISE), the FISE World Series
offers free events in staple locations of each of
the host cities. The festival-like vibe and action
sports filled days are always an important part
of the event, but people can also come to enjoy
a exhibition village, demos and initiations for the
general public on top of the regular competition
schedule.
Through the tour, the riders cumulate points
through each one of the stops, while gaining
important media exposure and having the
possibility to win significant prize money. Overall
rankings are calculated at the end of the tour,
determining the year’s champion in each one of
the disciplines. Notable point this year, the FISE
World Series organizes the UCI BMX Freestyle
Park World Cup for the first time ever, bringing a
double stakes for the BMX riders!

La ville de Montpellier est le berceau du FISE.
Première édition, premier succès qui dure depuis
presque 20 ans! Ce rendez-vous incontournable
est le plus grand rassemblement de sports
extrêmes au monde avec plus de 500 000
spectateurs. Sur cette étape, près de 2 000 riders
de plus de 50 nationalités différentes se défient
lors de compétitions amateurs et professionnels
durant cinq journées de folie.

Osijek représente le charme de l’est de la Croatie
sur les rives de la rivière Drava, dans la région
de « Slovanija ». Si vous êtes confus pour la
prononciation, essayez de remplacer le « ij » par
« y » et prononcez « Osiyek ». Réputée par ses
températures élevées durant l’été, les habitants
trouvent la fraicheur dans les eaux fraiches de
la Drava et ils adorent ça. C’est sur ces rives que
les locaux et visiteurs dégustent leur café, font
du vélo et flânent. Osijek est fière de son centre
historique fortifié datant du 18e siècle. Lorsque
vous traversez le pont de la Drava vous apercevez
alors le site du Pannonia challenge, un parc qui
accueille des milliers de spectateurs chaque
été qui viennent admirer les meilleurs riders et
musiciens dans une ambiance de folie. Cette
année le Pannonia Challenge accueillera le FISE
World Series avec la deuxième étape de la Coupe
du Monde BMX Freestyle Park UCI.

Located in south of France, Montpellier is a
dynamic city on the shores of the Mediterranean
Sea. Birthplace of the FISE, the city of Montpellier
has been hosting the FISE for the last 18 years! This
staple event in both the Montpellier and extreme
sports calendar is the greatest action sports
gathering in the world. On this stop, nearly 2000
riders from 53 countries and 250 journalists gather
around a common passion: sports. Both amateur
and very high level professional competitions give
the rhythm to 5 full days during which over 500
000 spectators fill the riverbanks of the Lez in the
heart of Montpellier.

Picturesquely set on the river Drava, Osijek
represents the beauty of the far eastern part
of Croatia, known as the region of Slavonija. If
you get confused about the pronunciation, try
replacing ‘ij’ with ‘y’, and say Osyek. Known for its
high temperatures during summer time, its people
usually seek solace inside the cold, refreshing
Drava, where you’ll find them having nothing but
fun. Apart from the river side, where most people
enjoy their coffees, bike rides, and happy strolls,
Osijek prides itself with a unique fortified city
center, called Tvrđa (đ is pronounced dʒ), which
goes back to 18th century, as well as the unusual,
beautiful Church of St Peter and St Paul. There’s
no doubt you’ll enjoy this city, especially if you
take your bike with you, as it’s the most popular
transportation in Osijek. And just when you cross
the bridge over Drava, you’ll see where all the fun
is centered – in the home of Pannonian Challenge
– a park where thousands of people flock each

Denver est la capitale du Colorado, c’est une
ville d’aventure avec une vue spectaculaire sur
les montagnes rocheuses, mais aussi un terrain
d’aventures urbaines pour tous les âges. Connue
comme « The Mile high city » grâce à son altitude
de 1600 mètres, Denver est une ville vivante,
jeune et créative. Elle offre un parfait contexte
pour le FISE World. Fréquemment citée comme
la ville la plus sportive des USA grâce aux fans
des 7 équipes professionnelles, dont les Broncos
récemment champions du Super Bowl. C’est une
véritable destination sportive. De plus, Denver
comporte une large population d’athlètes dont
certains favoris BMX du FISE World. Aj Anaya ainsi
qu’une douzaine d’athlètes locaux vont chercher
à se démarquer. La ville est heureuse d’accueillir
le FISE et tout aussi fière de faire découvrir le
« Metropolitan State University of Denver » ,
un campus de banlieue qui a été transformé en

Denver, the capital of Colorado, is an outdoor city
with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains
and plenty of urban adventures for all ages.
Known as The Mile High City due to its altitude
of 5,280 feet (one mile, or approximately 1,600
meters), Denver is a vibrant, youthful, creative city
and the perfect setting for FISE. It is frequently
noted as one of the best sports cities in the U.S.
due to the vast fan base of its seven professional
sport teams, including the recent Super Bowl
Champion Denver Broncos. Denver also has a
large population of local athletes – including FISE
World Series BMX athlete, AJ Anaya – looking to
make their mark. The city is thrilled to host FISE
and to showcase Metropolitan State University,
a downtown campus that has been transformed
into an icon of opportunity for its students and

Edmonton a toujours été un petit bijou caché.
Point central de l’art et de la culture avec des
festivals toute l’année. Peut-être est-ce l’héritage
des ambitions entrepreneuriales avec le premier,
le plus grand et le plus intense festival de théâtre
du continent. Un centre commercial qui détient
de nombreux records mondiaux avec le plus
grand parc d’attractions couvert, le plus grand lac
intérieur, la plus grande tyrolienne permanente
et la plus grande piscine à vagues intérieure. Où
peut-être parce qu’Edmonton est l’une des villes
les plus ensoleillées du Canada, avec 325 jours
d’ensoleillement par an. Edmonton est une grande
ville avec des valeurs de petite ville ; un centre
urbain dynamique au cœur du « wilderness ». Avec

Why is Edmonton different? There are theories.
Perhaps it’s the legacy of entrepreneurs dreaming
up oddities: the continent’s first, biggest and
wildest Fringe theatre festival and a shopping mall
which holds records for the world’s largest indoor
amusement park, the world’s largest indoor lake
and the world’s largest permanent indoor zipline
feature. Or maybe it’s because Edmonton is one
of Canada’s sunniest cities, with 325 days of bright
sunshine a year.
Edmonton is a big city with small-town values.
As an arts and culture hub with festivals on
the horizon year round. With a population of
1,328,300 free roaming bison, surfing indoors at
the world’s largest indoor wave pool, and some
of the hottest craft beer taprooms, hyper-local
bistros and indie bakeries in Canada, you’ll find
there’s a uniqueness to how Edmontonians do
ordinary things. Edmonton’s Hawrelak Park is the
second stop of the North American adventure
for the FISE World Series. This new collaboration
with the city of Edmonton and Edmonton Event
is an amazing opportunity for Canadian amateur
and pro riders, with among others, the UCI BMX
Freestyle Park World Cup.

Capitale de la Province du Sichuan, Chengdu est
l’un des lieux les plus dynamiques de l’ouest de la
Chine. Jumelée avec Montpellier, Chengdu marque
le premier jumelage d’une ville européenne
et d’une ville chinoise. La ville est habituée à
accueillir des événements à dimension nationale
et internationale (Football, triathlon...). Cette
étape du FWS à Chengdu est l’occasion d’enrichir
les échanges, de soutenir les initiatives culturelles
et sportives entre la France et la Chine, plus
particulièrement entre Montpellier et Chengdu.
Pour la troisième année consécutive Chengdu
accueillera une étape du FISE World Series avec
en prime cette année la finale de la Coupe du
Monde BMX Freestyle Park UCI 2016. En 2015
plus de 200 000 personnes émerveillées étaient
présentes.

Capital of the Szechuan province, Chengdu is one
of the most dynamic locations in Western China.
Being Montpellier’s twin city, Chengdu is the first
Chinese city to be paired with a European city.
The city is often the host of important national
and international events (football, triathlons…).
This stop of the FISE World Chengdu is a great
occasion to deepen intercultural exchanges
and support cultural and sport related initiative
between France and China, and mostly between
Montpellier and Chengdu.
For the third year running, Nan Hu Park in the new
Tian Fu area in Chengdu will be the welcoming
athletes and spectators for an exceptional show.
This year should be particularly interesting and
intense as it will hold the UCI BMX Freestyle Park
World Cup finals. In 2015, over 200 000 people
came to watch in awe, and we are sure 2016 will
bring even more!

Freestyle, sport extrême, action sport, qu’est ce
que c’est ?
Il s’agit des termes génériques qui regroupent les
disciplines de sports de glisse qui défient la gravité
en effectuant des figures à partir de structures
naturelles ou artificielles. Tirant ses origines du
Skateboard, issu lui même de la culture Surf, le
freestyle est pratiqué dans des zones fermées
(parcs) ou en milieu naturel. Les pratiquants sont
appelés « riders ».
Comment sont jugés les athlètes ?
Les athlètes sont jugés sur les figures réalisées
selon la difficulté, l’originalité, le style et
l’exploitation de l’espace. Ils ont un temps limité
pour effectuer leurs enchainements. Les juges
sont des professionnels experts de leur discipline.
Freestyle and extreme sports.
Freestyle is the generic term that regroups most
action sports in which the riders perform tricks on
natural or artificial structures. Depending on the
sport and discipline, these features can be made
out of dirt, steel, wood, snow and can even be
urban features. The only limits are those of the
rider’s creativity. Coming from skateboarding,
freestyle can be practiced in special areas named
“parks” or in a natural environment. The person
performing freestyle can be called a freestyler but
is most generally called a rider.
What are the judging criteria?
The athletes are judged on the tricks performed,
according to the difficulty, originality, style and
use of the space. They have a limited time to
perform their sequence. The judges are pros and
experts in their discipline.

Cette discipline est l’une des plus spectaculaires
des sports extrêmes, à ne manquer sous aucun
prétexte lors du FISE World Series. En effet, les
meilleurs athlètes de la planète viennent des 4
coins du monde pour tenter de se classer dans
le top du classement FISE World Series et de la
Coupe du Monde BMX Freestyle Park UCI. Un
double enjeu pour les athlètes !
L’ADN des sports Freestyle… Ce sport vient de
Californie et il est le digne héritier de la culture
Surf. Au départ il est un simple moyen de
locomotion, puis il a pris de l’ampleur dans les
années 80 dans le freestyle. C’est aujourd’hui le
sport le plus démocratisé. On le retrouve dans
la mode, la pub, l’art et le lifestyle. Une véritable
philosophie.
This discipline is one of the most spectacular
extreme sports, and you wouldn’t want to miss
it on the FISE World Series. The best athletes
come from all around the world to try to reach
the top spots of the FISE World Series and UCI
BMX Freestyle Park World Cup rankings. A double
stake for the riders!
The DNA of freestyle sports… This discipline
comes from California and is the child of surf
culture. At first just a way to stroll around, it truly
boomed as a freestyle sport in the 80s. Today, it
is the most democratized board sport. It is literally
everywhere: in fashion, advertising, art and
lifestyle. It is a true way of living.

MTB SLOPESTYLE
WAKEBOARD
Le MTB slopestyle est un parcours reproduisant les
obstacles rencontrés par les bikers en montagne.
Ce sport offre donc un spectacle à couper le
souffle tant par les structures surdimensionnées
que par les figures, la hauteur et la vitesse. Le parti
pris, exporter un sport outdoor en plein centreville.
Littéralement le Wakeboard se définit de l’anglais
wake, sillage et board, planche. C’est une discipline
nouvelle qui surgit début des années 80 à partir
d’une combinaison de techniques de ski nautique,
de snowboard et de surf. Grâce aux systèmes
de câbles, les wakeboarders tractés à 40km/h
peuvent pratiquer partout et donc s’inviter en
centre-ville pour partager leur passion. Les figures
et sauts y sont en général très spectaculaires.
Slopestyle Mountain Bike is performed on a
course built to reproduce some of the features
bikers could find on a mountain. This sport is truly
breathtaking to watch with its oversized features
but also with the type of tricks the riders perform,
as well as their height and speed. The challenge of
bringing an outdoor sport in the heart of a city is
one we are always willing to take!

Wakeboading is a new discipline that started to
appear in the 80s with a combination of waterski,
snowboard and surf. Thanks to the cable systems,
the riders now don’t necessarily need a boat to
be pulled around on the water at speeds up to
40km/h and can hence come and showcase their
sport and passion right downtown. The tricks are
definitely spectacular.

module.
C’est une forme artistique de
la pratique du BMX. Maitrise,
équilibre et beauté du geste, le
BMX Flat est très apprécié du
public par son aspect esthétique
et créatif.

arête centrale impressionnante.
Cette discipline spectaculaire et
aérienne est très populaire lors
du FISE World Montpellier. À ne

The athletes link up tricks on a
slopestyle course (with a start
and finish line) or on a park setup, both with features that allow
riders to perform their tricks and
show their creativity. Both in
park and slopestyle, they have
the chance to accumulate a lot
of speed, which offers a dynamic
performance every time.
This BMX riding style is
performed on smooth flat
surfaces that do not include any
ramps, jumps, or grind rails. It
can be described as a form of
artistic cycling.

Logan Martin est le nouveau prodige du BMX
Freestyle mondial. La première apparition de
Logan sur une compétition internationale c’était
déjà avec le FISE à Paris il y a seulement 3 ans.
Depuis il remporte la plupart des compétitions
auxquels il participe et s’il ne gagne pas il est
au minimum sur le podium à chacune de ces
apparitions. Logan est très technique, il allie
vitesse, amplitude, et engagement dans son
terrain de jeu favori (les parks) et c’est ce qui lui a
permis de remporter la tournée FISE World Series
2015.

Joe est un personnage très atypique. Son esprit
est sans cesse occupé à rêver des prochains tricks
qu’il réalisera, ou des prochains voyages auxquels
il prendra part. Très calme et souriant, ne vous y
trompez pas, une fois ses rollers aux pieds, Joe est
survolté. Très original et technique dans son riding,
il s’illustre dans chaque compétition internationale
auxquelles il se rend.

Joe isn’t your typical inline skate rider. His mind
is always busy dreaming about the next tricks he
will perform or the next trips he will be taking part
in. He may seem like a mellow guy at first glance,
once he pus on his skates, Joe just sets on fire.
Very original and technical in his riding, he shines
in every competition he takes part in.

Logan Martin is the new prodigy in international
Freestyle BMX. Logan’s first apparition on an
international event was with the FISE in Paris, 3
short years ago. He has been winning on most of
the competitions he takes part in and if he doesn’t
win, he is most likely on the podium at each one of
his participations. Logan is a very technical rider,
allying speed, amplitude and commitment on his
favorite playground, BMX parks. That’s exactly
what brought him to in the 2015 FISE World Series
tour.

COLLABORATION ENTRE HURRICANE ET L’UCI
Pour la première fois de son histoire, le BMX
Freestyle Park devient une discipline cycliste
reconnue et homologuée par l’Union Cycliste
Internationale (UCI), l’instance faîtière du sport
cycliste dans le monde, reconnue par le Comité
International Olympique (CIO). Cette nouveauté
dans le monde du cyclisme est le fruit d’une
collaboration entre l’UCI et Hurricane Action
Sports portant sur le lancement de la Coupe du
Monde BMX Freestyle Park UCI.
COLLABORATION BETWEEN HURRICANE AND
UCI
For the first time in its history, BMX Freestyle
Park becomes a recognized bicycle discipline, as
it is now certified by the UCI. This novelty in the
cyclist world is the result of a great collaboration
between UCI and FISE (Festival International des
Sports Extrêmes) through the launch of the UCI
BMX Freestyle World Cup.
Les manches de la première édition de la Coupe du
Monde BMX Freestyle Park UCI 2016 se tiendront
conjointement avec le circuit international du FISE
World Series et serviront de tremplin pour les
premiers Championnats du Monde de Cyclisme
urbain UCI prévus en 2017. L’événement inclura
le BMX Freestyle Park, le mountain bike crosscountry Eliminator (XCE) et le trial.
L’UCI et le FISE s’allient pour partager leurs
connaissances, leurs compétences, leur expérience,
et travailler ensemble au développement de la
discipline BMX Freestyle Park.

«L’intégration du BMX Freestyle Park est une
excellente nouvelle pour le cyclisme. Notre
partenaire Hurricane nous apportera son savoirfaire reconnu en matière d’organisation. L’UCI

de notre sport en répondant à une attente

The first edition of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park
World Cup 2016 will be taking place on the
international FISE World Series competitions. It
will be the springboard for the UCI Urban Cycling
World Championships, planned for 2017. These
championships would include BMX Freestyle park,
Cross Country Mountain Bike Eliminator (XCE)
and Trial.
Both UCI and FISE are happy to team up to
share their knowledge and competences through
different past experiences and work hand in hand
to develop the discipline that is BMX Freestyle
Park.
